Re: battery rollercoaster

2001-10-04 Thread Michael Dolberry

Thank you for this highly informative post. I'm always
amazed at the answers found here.

I an going to try to replace the batteries inside the
casing, the next time I go to Radio Shack. I'm not
risking much and it may be fun. It looks like I can
modify a battery tray in one of my children's dead
toys to accept the batteries and it might fit back in
the casing. It's worth a try. Modular, convenient and
ecologically-friendly. I suppose that I stand a chance
of not being able to recharge them inside the
computer, by going this way, though.

yep, I've had similar results from two batteries

 chemistry of these
batteries when they're on the way out. (unless it's
 the rate of
discharge, but this is on Battery Amnesia, which I
 think gives a
constant rate of discharge). I gave up and pulled
 the cells from one.
They all held an initial charge, and I haven't had a

That 170 battery rollercoaster

2001-10-02 Thread Michael Dolberry

Hi Folks,

I am in the process of reconditionong the battery on
my wife's PB 170.

I have deep charged and discharged it several times,
as recommended.

The last two times the discharge curve has almost been
identical. It runs down to about 25% after only 6
minutes and then ramps back up to about 35-40% for
about 5 minutes more, until finally discharging
completely after about 35 minutes.

While this explains why the battery goes to sleep
after about 5 minutes, I wonder if this is a symptom
of a bad battery or something.

Has anyone else encountered such a thing?
