Re: powermail-discuss Digest Custom sounds
On Wednesday, 26 May 2004, Ira Lansing, [EMAIL PROTECTED], thoughtfully composed the following: What is the preferred format for custom sounds that are placed in the Custom Sounds folder (PM 5)? I take it that these will appear in the Preferences' Notification sounds pop-up menu? Thanks--Ira I use AIFFs, mainly because before I upgraded to my eMac and OS X, I converted my Additional Sounds suitcase to that format using SoundApp. When I put them in my home library's Sounds folder, PM5 adopted them immediately, without having to change any settings in prefs or filters. But I just tried an MP3, and it worked, so I guess you could use any sound format supported by QuickTime. HTH, Marcus Thanks, Marcus, I am using an AIFF. Placing it in the user Library Sound folder did the trick, but PM would not recognize it in the Custom Sound folder. --Ira

Purchasing PM5. How does it work?
So, I was reinstalling the system on my Powerbook (don't ask!) and I thought I'd upgrade to Powermail 5 at the same time. I went to a page at the ctm web site and _thought_ that I ordered PM5 + SpamSieve, entered my credit card, and the transaction ended with a page that said that I would receive PowerMail 5 when it is released! Is this normal? Did I find an out-of-date web page? Or am I confused about the availability of PM5? Am I supposed to get an email with my registration numbers? I am really confused. (So far my credit card hasn't been charged, but I only ordered it 24 hours ago). How did others get a PM5/SpamSieve registration number? How long did it take? A

Feature suggestion - HTML
(Apologies if we've been here before - I know there have been a few holy wars on closely related topics, but...) How about making the HTML-viewing preference selectable on a folder-by- folder basis (maybe as one of the View Options)? That way, if a particular mailing list or correspondent insists on sending HTML mails and you're not in a position to argue, you could enable it just for them, without the security risk of switching it on globally. The 'globe' icon at the bottom of the browser is great, but this would be even more convenient. Of course, I'm exercising the customer's privilege of totally ignoring any practical programming difficulties this raises :) TimH

hello again!
Been a while since I used PowerMail... At least a year or so... I am trying to get back up to speed with v.5 and instantly recall the power and speed of the app. Have a question or two some of the more experienced users might be able to help out with... I'm an IMAP user and find that the connection settings are somewhat unique in PM compared to other apps... You set a connection per account, rather than letting one connection schedule handle multiple... at least that is the current limitation based on the radio buttons! I am trying to set up filters, but see I can only use local mailboxes for storage... unless I am missing something. Is that really the case? If it is... can anyone point me in the direction of a procmail lesson so I can set some server side filtering up and just happily browse subscribed folders? Other than recent mail which only seems to support POP accounts - or locally stored mail - is there a way to have an integrated In Tray view? I know I can set up all messages to just dump there, but that's not want I was hoping to have. Thanks in advance!
