Re: Spamsieve not working in 5.0?
PowerMail Engineering [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: no, I think by doing this you just skip the is not in previous testing. On my side I *inverted* this last setting: indeed my setup is ALL / from/send not in address / is in previous : apparently idiot, but I feel this not in previous menu text does the contrary of what it says... I think that is in previous recipients and is not in previous recipients works as expected. Jérôme I am sorry, but I *really* have an isue here, the same as Marlyse. If for instance I reset the Spamsieve conditions by running the spam setup assistant from the prefs, and ask successively for the three conditions that lead to the usual setup (not in previous, etc.), all new spam jumps right in my incoming folder and I can perfectly see SpamSieve is not activated (it is not even launched if it doesn't run). I discussed this issue at length in this very list just a week ago. I reinstalled PM5 entierely, etc. In the end I discovered that suppressing the incoming conditions (asking for a SpamSieve evaluation always) did work. Then I reintroduced the filters one at a time, and I found the faulty one being indeed if sender not in recent that never triggers. At present time I can ensure you my settings are - if sender not in AdBk AND - if sender IS in recents then evaluate spam and this, works. If I switch the second condition to is not, SpamSieve is just not used, and all spam flies through. As I mentioned, this may be a mistranslation in french (here I see PM in french) I also think that you should use all conditions. Of course. If you use any condition, all messages will be passed to SpamSieve, except when the sender in both in your address book AND in your recipient history AND the message is addressed using your real name. That is typically too restrictive. Try it: with just not in address alone, it will work, with not in previous alone, it won't. Probably because this sender is in your address book, but you have never sent a message to this address in PM 5 (the previous recipients list did not exist in PM 4)? No. In one of my accounts I get 100 spams/day, and for sure senders are not all in my addressbook. -- remove .listes and add a dot after fh please enlevez .listes et ajoutez un point après fh
Loss of Toolbar icons when switching language?
I have had loss of Toolbar icons and wanted to hear if I was alone in having this provlem. I only get the dividers, all other symbols and text is gone. Replacing with a new fresh 5.0 release, deleting all prefs inlcuding the user prefs inside the PowerMail files folder and also removing all PM keys doesn't help. I can get back the main window Mail Browser icons and text if I start out with a new DB and switch user environment to my main DB. At present I have all the icons of the Mail Browser window, but the rest of the windows including the message window, the Account window, the Mail filter window, the Mail and Schedulings window, the text clipping window and the Text signature window, do lack any hint of icons or text. If I choose Customize Toolbar from the View menu I can repopulate the toolbar and it it seems it will stick. In what pref file is the Toolbar preferences set? I did remove: com.ctmdev.PowerMail.plist PMKey 5 PowerMail Prefs and also user prefs from the PowerMail Files folder None of those seemed to affect things. The problem has remained as I have migrated from one machine (PB G3 w 10.3.3 to a Beige G3 with OSXS 10.2.2 to finally a PB G4 with 10.3.x). I suspect this may be as I have switched languages and with that used different resources, that may have got stuck in a cache or similar. But where could the source be? Also, is there a clean way to reinstall another key? PM 5.0 | OS X 10.3.4 | Powerbook G4/400 | 384 MB RAM | 30 GB HD
Re: PM 4.2.1 query...
Hi Judy, We often receive emails written in Japanese and are afflicted with the same type of problem. The Japanese text is received as a series of question marks '?' but a Reply to reveals the full text content. This happens on our Mac running OS9 running PM 4.2.1. If I receive emails from the same source, that is cc'ed to me, on Mac running 10.3.4 and PM 4.2.1 the Japanese text is fine. Maybe I should investigate the network setups and PM preferences on these two Macs. I have twice now received email from a Windows pc on AOL that appears to be devoid of any content: empty window opens when I open it to read. Both times I assume this was an HTML message; clicked on globe and again, empty window in my Safari browser. Then, I open a Reply to Sender window when the entire message appears in the Reply window. PowerMail FAQ site having trouble
In PM 5, when I select the Help menu, and then the PowerMail FAQ menu item, I'm taken to the site http://info.ctmdev.com/faq/. On 3/6/04 listes wrote: did you check in snitch that you allowed PM forever *and for any server*? (you can see this on the snitch control panel rather than trashing all its prefs file) Since my post I have tracked down the problem to a change in my ISPs servers. Coincidentally they have been using an extended range of IP addresses probably as a result of increased server capacity. At the moment I have been adding these to Snitch as they appear, but I will look at your suggestion to use 'any server' which is obviously a simpler method of doing it. Thanks for the help. Chris

Re(2): Who White Lady?
Damienn, Thanks for your input. Indeed, it may be a good idea to try to export message database. It was suggested by Jerome that I could eventually isolate corrupted message by exporting message folders and this experiment has pointed to multiple messages in my Sent Mail folder as being source of problem. Unfortunately, I am unable to pinpoint them yet... Only 6278 messages left to go through... What export would you suggest as the safest bet for later import? so perhaps you ought to check out the integrity of your system beyond PM in regard to this: like fonts, Only original OSX fonts so far. keyboard layouts, Only Latin US layout and Unicode Croatian layout. Before I used to have much more complicated setup but last week I installed a clean Panther 10.3.4 and kept it as simple as I could. Hardly something could get corrupted there in such short time... language packs Only US, voodoo-viruses, etc. Heh, what frustrates me is that ever since I got Mac, I wasn't able to locate any viruses... Originally coming from PC world this is unusual... :-)) Disregard the last suggestions. Be friend with a Brunette Lady instead. Any nice lady will do. :-) Calling it White Lady was a great thing, at least any real gentleman would go really easy on cursing over the problem called such charming name. Hope you'll be able to solve your problem. Sometimes we have to go to the bottom with things, before the symptom disappears... I'm well aware of that... It really makes me not a happy person that I've literally spent whole day today (and quite number of hours over last two years) searching for solution for something that should not be problem at all (or at least should be solved by someone else, for change), knowing that probably it will take few more days but heck, I remember days when this frustrations used to be fun... But, then I wasn't self-employed... Best regards, Sead
