You can run "archive and cleanup" in multiple steps, to copy as much messages as possible to a new, clean database: - Select one folder (or a few folders), then search "in the selected folders only" for messages whose "date received" is older than 0 day. - then run "archive and cleanup" for "all messages from the search result window", and import the archived message to "a new PowerMail User Environment". Do not try to delete the archived messages or compact the corrupted database at this stage. - repeat these steps with a different set of folder until you are done, importing them to the same user environment. - if a specific folder can't be exported successfully, only export its oldest (or most recent) messages, by adjusting the date in the search dialog - instead of archiving folder by folder, you may prefere to search messages only by date, or by account etc… If some messages are archived multiple times, they will only be imported once to the archive. Can't compact database
I am unable to run the "archive and cleanup" or "compact database" commands. The process appears to start normally, but after a short time it stops with the error message "A database error occurred Class=DB ;what=100;when=9;err=158" I'm running PM v6.0.2 build 4601. The message database is about 1.5GB I would like to troubleshoot this problem and archive old messages, creating a smaller and up to date database without losing my folder structure and filters. Is this posible? How? Thanks. Joe Hallett -- Joe Hallett - Independent Writer on Technologies and Applications

Thanks! The command-option on startup did the trick. Let me know if it solves the problem. Jérôme - PowerMail Engineering - "In this world, you generally get what you pay for. PowerMail is worth paying for. Download a demo. That's a file error. Usually -47 is trying to access a deleted file. Which OS are you using. If on OS X, repair permissions, make sure you have enough space on your hd. You can also hold down cmd and option key and make a full repair. good luck Matthias - schmidt-systementwicklung Tel. +31-736-56-3905 - Am/On: Wed, 31 Dec 2003 10:02:03 +0100 schrieb/wrote: Victor Victor Orly >Hello; > >My mail database is now up to about 727 MB. Can't Compact Database
Hello; My mail database is now up to about 727 MB. I empty the trash all the time, and used to be able to compact the database. Now when I try to compact, about 20 seconds into the database I get this error: A file error occurred. File is busy. Class=file; what=100; when=4; err=-47 Please help! Thanks Victor
