Re: Hanging downloads
Hello Matthias, PM did it again this morning. PM was in the foreground and I used Connect Now to download my messages. At the bottom of the window, PM said there were 3 messages to download then hung. I stopped the download and two messages were in the in-tray, one of which had no subject. Opened this message to see that it was completely blank. Closed the blank message again, command-clicked on it in the in-tray and selected "Retrieve Again Now". This time PM said there were 44 messages to download. When it had finished downloading the original blank message had disappeared from the inbox. This is just for general information, there is probably no major problem. Regards, Frank >>I just had that case yesterday again. >>This time the mail was only completely received, after I activated the >>option, "receive completely now ( or no next connnection)". >>So I'd use this option. > >I could try this the next time it happens, but where is "receive >completely now". I guess PM starts hanging, when downloading the header. Next time, one connects the message is downloaded as expected. That also happened to me and I have no glue why, mostly with messages from some lists. So they even don't contain a html part. Hello Frank, there are at least 2 possibilities: - the click the message in the list and then use the contextual menu (ctrl click or other mouse button) - there appears a little icon at the bottom of the list window All the best Matthias --- Admilon Consulting GmbH http://www.admilon.com Tel. +81-736-56-3905 --- Am/On Thu, 13 Jul 2006 01:22:49 -0700 schrieb/wrote Frank Mitchell: >Hello Matthias > >>I just had that case yesterday again. >>This time the mail was only completely received, after I activated the >>option, "receive completely now ( or no next connnection)". >>So I'd use this option. > >I could try this the next time it happens, but where is "receive >completely now". Hello Frank, I just had that case yesterday again. This time the mail was only completely received, after I activated the option, "receive completely now ( or no next connnection)". So I'd use this option. For the records, this happens mostly only, when PM is in the background. Re: Hanging downloads
In our case, I have narrowed it down to SPAM with illegal characters. There is one particular type of SPAM that puts every conceivable key combination and unicode structure in the title to get your attention. It also causes mail servers to choke. If the downloading fails to proceed a second time, I must use a web client to delete the offending message. Re: Hanging downloads
This has been happening to me for quite sometime, and is very unpredictable when it happens. When it happens, I click on X, then PM shows the blank mail with partially downloaded icon so I click on it to force download. Interestingly, in my case, it has been 100% Spam mails that hangs, but the source code of the mail itself doesn't show any suspicious code nor attachment. -- - Hiro [PROTECTED] <[PROTECTED]> <[PROTECTED]>

Hi Sean, >>Occasionally, when downloading my messages, PM hangs part way. After >>waiting, I stop the download and immediately reconnect. I'm running the latest PM on the latest OSX with a cable modem + wireless router. I get well over 200 emails a day (counting the spam). I'm not saying that it's not happening to you (obviously it is) but it's not a given, and hopefully there's something that can be done to fix it. Re: Hanging downloads
Hello, the message is not downloaded at all, if I understand Rick right. I guess PM starts hanging, when downloading the header. Next time, one connects the message is downloaded as expected. That also happened to me and I have no glue why, mostly with messages from some lists. So they even don't contain a html part. I have 2 theories to offer: - one of the header records might be too long. - the network (IP) handler bails due to some error or runs crazy which might be also the reason, when PM crashes, while checking mail in the background. Re: Hanging downloads
Frank If the mystery email is only half downloaded then you can right-click (ctrl-click) and choose "Retrieve message completely now" from the contextual menu. (it might not say precisely that; I'm going from memory and don't have a half-message to hand to test with). But maybe you don't mean that, and the message is completely downloaded but blank. In which case I don't know, but maybe it is an empty stub and you actually do have the message included in the ones that downloaded properly. What I mean is that you might have 'Message A' twice: once as a useless stub and once as a complete download. Of course the stub should be deleted when the full version comes in but maybe PM lost the link between the two. Just an idea. I have no evidence of any sort.
