Re: MIDI from GarageBand to Pro Tools

2013-05-18 Thread Chris Norman
Ah, sorry, I forgot about all that Pro Tools LE stuff, sorry, I only
came into Pro Tools at version 9...

You could record the track in Logic, and probably export MIDI from
that easier... Other than that, I'm afraid I don't really know... Good
old QWS? That would definitely do it dead easy.

HTH, and sorry I can't be more use.

 Sorry for the confusion,

into a computer, ideally running PT. But since I only have PT 8, I need
 an
interface with it. So with my current setup, I would have to unhook my
 003
from the studio and take it down two flights to record into my Macbook.
There's no way. I suppose I could get a 50 or 100 ft usb cable, but then
there's the issue of monitoring. The virtual drums would be upstairs on
 the
 Mac Pro with Strike.

Hey Chris,

Liking the vocal sound overall man, seems like it's developed a lot
since the last time I remember you posting something on here.

One suggestion would be to go through and delete the audio whenever
there's long stretches of silence on that vocal track. I noticed a few
lip smacks and other odd little sounds of you getting ready to sing
during gaps in the instrumentation. You might be able to get away with
a gate on the track instead of editing, but either way, cleaning up
those gaps would help some. Oh, probably put that gate pre-compression
if you do try that instead of editing the vocal track.

Sounding good dude, keep it up.

Oh, I used auto-tune. That may be why. I agree I probably shouldn't a done
that. I just don't think my natural voice sounds all that great without it. I
tend to really really! waver off key, bad! And I do mean, bad!

People've told me, don't be so hard on myself, but yeah. One thing I will say
is I tried shutting off my computer tower while recording the vocal to a track,
and man oh god! what a difference! I thought I'd already tried that, but maybe
not after all. I think that's part of what it was. my mike which is in a
stand sititng on my desk was picking up the vibration from the desktop computer
fan sitting not even a foot and a half to the right of the mike stand. When I
shut that system totally down, killing it's fan, oh my heavens! Still not
quite? the sound I want, but man is it getting closer. What is you all's
experience with the fans in those old white macbooks? I hear they are barely
even to a real sensitive mike, even audible at all. Your real deal breakers
are more probably with those desktop towers.
