RE: Not an official endorsement, but PT 12 works with El Cap.
Hi Slau, Yes you were correct as usual. I called Sweetwater, and the tech said that this is a common issue where Avid had not deposited the additional content licenses into the account. I thought I would mention it for all on the list to read, because there's no getting into Pro Tools with out sighted help to temporarily move the plug-ins to the unused folder until Avid forces the licenses into the Ilok account. Folks need to make sure the licenses are on the Ilok before installing the plug-ins , otherwise, we're stuck! I had installed Pro Tools 12 a couple months ago, but had not yet installed the additional contents until Kevin inspired me this morning. So there for is Kevin's fault! How's that for blame shifting! Re: [Bulk] [Bulk] Pro Tools Dock and s3
Hi Katie, I've been using multiple surfaces over the years and for the investment I don't think the C24 is worth anything over the current Ebay price which is between 3000 and 4500 used depending on the condition. Certainly if you were going to spend anything near 10,000 the better bet would be a D|control. We got rid of 3 C24's which were all in good condition for $3500. You can find one around that price if you keep searching. I use both the D-control and D|command and I see the D|control on Ebay all of the time for around $10,000. There's one right now with the X-mon and surround panner for that price in NY and one just sold in California for 11,000 including a hard wired patch bay. The board is bigger than the C-24 but it has a dedicated EQ and compression section plus it's very tactile. There are buttons and nobs for everything including PT shortcuts so you'll almost never use the actual qwerty keyboard other than typing names for tracks and inputting text. It's fully customizable and you can program soft keys to do just about everything. If the state will spring for it I would go for it over an S3. I've used an S3 2 weeks ago and I'm not very familiar with it so I can't say anything other than it doesn't do as much and is a much smaller surface footprint. I personally like large faders that feel like a big board which neither the C|24 or S3 have. If you're going by feel there's a large difference and that will become vital if you're working on the board many hours a day. I've also used a D|command quite a bit and feel it lacks in comparison in terms of options and also only has 2 rotary pots per channel as opposed to 6. These are both older boards so nobody really knows the shelf life but I don't see it becoming completely extinct at least for a few years. There are 2 versions of the D|command and D|control and the oldest is the blue version of both. The X-mon that they both can be used with will take care of any monitoring paths including talk back. It's one of those things where if you can get it paid for you'll never go back to something that doesn't have the feel of an actual board. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Pro Tools Accessibility" group. Re: Not an official endorsement, but PT 12 works with El Cap.
One other thing worth mentioning is a strange quirk about authorizations. My understanding is that this is the case with Pro Tools First but some might see it with Pro Tools 12. If you activate a license to an iLok first and then launch Pro Tools First (and I mean the product Pro Tools First and not first as in the order of sequence), upon launching the program, it prompts you to activate the license even though it's already on the iLok. You then need to deactivate the license, relaunch the application and activate it from within the Activation Wizard. It's surely unexpected behavior. Again, this apparently is the case with Pro Tools First but I'm wondering whether others might find themselves in a similar situation. To be sure, I had no problems activating the license onto the iLok first and then Pro Tools 12 launched with no issues. Well, actually, there was one minor issue and that was that, upon opening a session that contained an old TL Space plug-in for which I had deactivated a license, the Activation Wizard came up asking if I wanted to activate the old plug-in authorization. At least I could tell what was going on and could make a decision. Good times. Slau On Nov 5, 2015, at 9:38 AM, Sean A. The only plug out of the bonus set that requires ILOK is Eleven if you buy before Dec 31. Supposedly, there is a graphic EQ stomp box that they are also offering free through their app store, but I haven’t looked at that yet. Hope that helps.
