Re: Musical keyboards
Is there a particular reason why you are shying away from Yamaha. As far as accessibility goes, the Yamaha motif xf is very good because it doesn’t have a touch screen. It does have usb and if you buy the optional board, it has firewire. It also can be used as an audio interface. Gord From: Andy B. Re: Pro Tools accessories
Agreed with the Apogee Ensemble recommendation, and if you act fast its onside for Black friday/cyber monday direct from Apogee for about $500 less than it normally goes for. Also the apple keyboard has unpowered USB ports so if the HD has its own external power supply it will work. If it doesn’t have power supply and is bus powered it won’t work plugged into the keyboard. > On Nov 30, 2015, at 4:40 PM, Slau Halatyn wrote: > > You have two Thunderbolt ports. Hi Chris, The Applications Manager isn't yet accessible and there's no workaround, per se, other than logging into your Avid account on the web and looking to see what might potentially be a new download like a new version of Pro Tools or a new driver, etc. Which interface are you using? Was it recognized in a previous version of Pro Tools? Did you ever install drivers for it? Two protools questions
Good evening all, I was wanting to email to see if their is a work around for the avid application manager? It’s letting me know I have two updates available, however the interface seems inaccessible with voiceover. I am also having a rather strange interface problem as well. I’m using protools 12, and it just will not recognize my interface anymore. I know the computer recognizes it, however, their is nothing showing up in PT. Any help would really be appreciated! Trim plugin question
Hello all, Just was wondering if the trim plugin was working better in pro tools 12.3. I know in previous versions of pro tools, we were unable I believe to move the volume down in the trim plugin itself. Just was wondering how that works now in 12.3. Thanks for the info, Brian -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Pro Tools Accessibility" group. Re: Pro Tools accessories
Hi Andy, Regarding the control surface and interface, I'd recommend the S3 and an Apogee Ensemble Thunderbolt. If, as you say, price isn't of concern, you'll want to eventually get the Pro Tools Dock when it comes out early next year to give you better transport control and scrub wheel functionality. I also use an Axium keyboard, which uses a USB to plug into the computer. As for the guitar hardware someone else will have to answer that. Sweetwater customer service is remarkable. They've worked with blind musicians before and if you describe what you need they will most certainly match you up. Explain that you need the most hands-on, knob and button oriented hardware and they be delighted to help. I do not have any bad experience and everything I won, keyboard, control surface, microphones etc are from them. I hope this gives you a start. Best of luck and do feel free to ask questions. That is why we have this list. Vaughn On 11/30/15, Andy B. wrote: > Hi all, > > > > I am just getting started with Pro Tools. Pro Tools accessories
Hi all, I am just getting started with Pro Tools. Unfortunately, most of the hardware left from my previous stint with another DAW brand is sub quality. I wish to start over with new equipment and hardware, but do not know what equipment to purchase. I have a list of items with nowhere to find good quality brands or models. Can someone help me out? The list with additional notes where necessary is below. 1. Pro Tools 12.3 - On the way. 2. Control surface - price is not a concern. 3. Audio input for recording instruments such as vocals, guitar, and keyboard - USB enabled with a direct input method. Price is not a concern. 4. Guitar amp modulator - portable, price is not a concern. 5. Keyboard - Must be portable, workstation type of playing. Must have the ability to play soft synths/virtual instruments in Pro Tools. Price is not a concern. I believe the list above will get me started for now. A note of importance, I am completely blind, and cannot read anything printed on the screen or device. My current computer is a MACBook Pro mid 2015 with 500GB flash drive, 16GB memory, and an I7 with 8 processor cores. I have OSX 10.11 installed. If anyone can help, it would be appreciated. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Pro Tools Accessibility" group. Re: Usb interface controller
Hi Pavel, Two things that are strongly recommended for blind users of Pro Tools are an Apple Pro keyboard and a control surface. Your budget will largely dictate which control surface you'll end up buying. Another potential issue is whether you need that surface to work with other DAWs. Currently, for Pro Tools, the entry level would be the Artist series. Also, if you look around, you can still find the Avid 003 second hand. You can use other surfaces that use the HUI protocol but be aware that their implementation with Pro Tools is often clumsy but certainly better than not having a surface. Again, it all depends on budget and what kind of compatibility you need with other DAWs, if any. Whatever you decide, I'd recommend doing as much research as possible. There have been several small companies over the years who have introduced products that seemed promising but those companies have ultimately stopped manufacturing and supporting their products. I know, I bought one of those products years ago and it became an expensive doorstop. As I recall, you're in Europe so there's the added aspect of local support and a relatively smaller community of blind users. Maybe that complicates things just a little, I'm not sure. I know of nobody who uses the Q-con surface. I think I've seen mention of it on gearslutz but, since I know better than to read anything on that forum, I dismiss that as any measure of the Q-con. It seems like it has the key features that you would need to use it with Pro Tools but I'm not sure about sales and support, especially in Europe. You'd have to check that out carefully before diving in and making sure, since I know of no other consistent users, that you have a decent return policy in case it's not the right solution for you. If you do go with the Q-con, keep us posted. best, Slau On Nov 30, 2015, at 6:23 AM, Pavel Vlček wrote: > Hi, > I am buying Pro tools 12 now. I want to buy some usb audio controller. Usb interface controller
Hi, I am buying Pro tools 12 now. I want to buy some usb audio controller. Maybe Q-con pro. Is it a good choice? And can be Pro tools used without controller? I think yes, but it will be more difficult. Or do you know some better than Q-con pro?
