How do I select insert slots? Trying to put a virtual instrument on an instrument track

2018-07-09 Thread Rory McDonald
Hey all. I am currently trying to play around with midi in pro tools. I created
a project, then added a stereo instrument track. But where are the insert
slots? Based on the guide on sweet water i’m supposed to select the first
insert slot but I can’t find where any of those are. Can anyone help me out?
Thanks

Re: Level meter problem

2018-07-09 Thread Slau Halatyn
VoiceOver notoriously reads things that are actually not visibly on screen. If
a level meter shows no value and there is definitely signal being passed, that
means that the channel strip is either off screen to the left or right or
there's something blocking the channel strip like a floating window or dialog
box.
1. Make sure all other windows are closed including system dialogs.
2. Maximize the window with Command Option Shift Z which works when the Flo
Mouse is enabled.
3. Hide unused sets of inserts or sends, which usually means F through J.
4. The first thing in the Mix window should be the word "Tracks." If any
channel strips appear before the word "tracks" and the Tracks list Pop-Up
button, Press Option Page Up until Tracks is the first thing in the window. It
sometimes helps to hide unnecessary tracks when looking at multiple level
meters.

Re: FloTools beginner question

2018-07-09 Thread Slau Halatyn
Glad you're enjoying it so far. As Steve said, double-tapping is sometimes
employed where one wants to check the status of a mode rather than changing it.
Further, VoiceOver often reports the checked or unchecked status in a sort of
backwards way where it reports what the status was before you issued the
command rather than what it is after you've issued the command. Anyway, these
things and more are detailed in the Read Me. Enjoy,
Slau

Re: Waves Tune

2018-07-09 Thread Slau Halatyn
I don't use Waves products in general but, for keyboard input of MIDI pitch
data, it's usually a matter of putting the plug-in into a mode where it
receives MIDI note information and uses it to establish a target pitch. Apart
from plug-in settings, of course, the device has to be enabled, input filter
set, etc.

Re: FloTools beginner question

2018-07-09 Thread Steve Sparrow
Yeah man, it sure makes things easier.
What you have to do is double tap the letter to uncheck or check the option. so
for example. pre post roll hold down the command key, and double tap the K. two
very quick taps. It works well the way it is set up, if you just tap the key
once it reports the status. The double tapping of the key will uncheck or check
it. This is the way it is with so many things in Flo tools.

FloTools beginner question

2018-07-09 Thread Niklas Karlsson
Hi again list,
Sorry for so many messages!

I've recently installed and started using FloTools and have a quick question:
I have an issue where the built-in toggle commands in ProTools doesn't report
the status like it did before.
For example, when I press Command-K VO just says "Pre-post role", instead of
"Pre-post role checked", if it is checked.
The same appears with the loop playback function (Command-Shift-L).

Any ideas of what the reason for this is?

Last but not least, big thanks to Slau and the other developers for your hard
work to accomplish this.
It definitely makes the workflow much quicker!

All the best,
Niklas

Thanks again!

Flo tools is great. makes things much more accessible. Although, from previous
experience, if your level metre is saying level metre pressing L will probably
give you the same result. Having said that, i’ve only seen this once or twice
since i’ve started using flo tools. Hopefully you won’t see this too often.
Have you checked it out on different tracks or sessions.

SV: Level meter problem

2018-07-09 Thread Niklas Karlsson
Hi,

Thank you all for your help, I will try your solutions!

I've even installed FloTools now so I will be playing with that as well. 😊

Best,
Niklas

Hi. yes i’ve seen this from time to time. Thankfully not often these days.
Sometimes you can dis arm and re arm the track a few times and it will sort it
self out. Some time i’ve found it to be an issue with one particular track. So
you could try adding a new track and see if you get the level metre back. I’ve
never worked out why this occurs at times. Maybe interact with the track in
the mix window and see what the metre is doing. But you’ll probably get the
same result. Make sure lupe record is not enabled. I think I had an issue at
one time with this happening, and found it was something to do with lupe
record. But it was a while back and i can’t remember all the details now.

If all else fails. I’ve generally found it to be something to do with the
actual session. So If you start a new session, the problem should go away. But
that’s hard going some times when you’ve got a lot of stuff recorded in the
session. But metering should come back.

Just a few thoughts. Good luck with it.
