Re: Moving tracks in the track table of the Mix window

2023-10-03 Thread Chuck Reichel
Hi John,
This got broken about 1 year ago.
You're correct about mouse down then mouse up when you want to move the track
though.
I’ve been on this bug for a while now.
The fix is coming up soon! :)
1 work around is to boot up an older PT version from last October 2022 or so
and move the tracks then re-open it with the version of pt you're using.
Another work around I got from Mike Lockett is to do a find for the track
“command option f” and after that the track will move up or down most of the
time.

Moving tracks in the track table of the Mix window

2023-10-03 Thread 'John André Lium-Netland' via Pro Tools Accessibility
Hi,

This might be a dum question, but I do not remember how to move tracks up or
down with a keystroke. :) I tried to move by using VO comma and VO period, and
control-shift-option-command to hold and release the mouse, but was not able to
move the track.

Any suggestions?

Best,
John André

What's the problem then? If the files are in a hard drive why can't you just

Moving tracks from a zoom F6 to ProTools

2021-05-10 Thread Terry Nord
Hey guys,
I have a zoom F6 multi track recorder And I want to know how to move the tracks
from the Sd card that’s in it that’s removable to pro tools to work on them. I
should let you know also that the tracks did get moved from the SD card to a
external hard drive that I have for my Mac. If it’s easier to move them from
there that’s fine. Thanks in advance, I do appreciate it.

You can fill your ears with music and your mouth with food, but, music won’t
make you fat.

Re: moving tracks again

2019-08-19 Thread Steve Sparrow
Hey chris. thanks for this.Actually i gave this a run. But it does work for
some of the tracks in the project, but not others. I added new tracks to the
session this afternoon and all the new tracks will not let me move them. when
after issuing the vo command f 5 when ever I hit mouse down it says mouse down
on edit then the name of the song i’m working on. Very weird i’ve not seen this
before. I hope i can get around this, as without this it’s very hard to mix
with tracks all over the place.
Thanks for your thoughts Chris. Should be useful in the feature.

Re: moving tracks again

2019-08-18 Thread Christopher Gilland
Are you sure you have your mouse pointer set to follow your Voiceover
cursor? Before doing your mouse down, and your mouse up, try doing a
VO+Command+F5 to route your mouse pointer to the current item. That's
the only thing I can possibly think of.

Re: moving tracks WAS: Structure - Korg M3 and Motif XS patches

2017-02-02 Thread Slau Halatyn
In sessions where there are a ton of tracks, I've come up with a workflow that
works for me. I often work with large session files where I'm constantly having
to move tracks. Apart from the sheer time it takes to navigate down the tracks
list with VoiceOver, one of the main concerns is that, once tracks are below
the visible scroll area, they are selectable with VoiceOver but dragging
doesn't work because the mouse pointer doesn't click in the right spot as the
tracks are off-screen. One aspect of the tracks list table that works in our
favor is that, when multiple tracks are selected and one of those tracks is
moved, all of the selected tracks end up in a continuous list together with the
track that was dragged. Thus, if you have tracks that are at the bottom of a
list of a hundred tracks, you can select the tracks you wish to move, then
navigate to the top of the tracks table, select one of the top tracks and drag
it one notch up. The selected tracks from the bottom of the list instantly pop
up toward the top of the list, right underneath the track that was just
dragged. Dragging tracks to the bottom of the list is easier, only because when
you drag from the top down, the window scrolls as soon as the dragging mouse
reaches the bottom of the scroll area.

Dragging tracks to the middle of a list of a hundred tracks is a little
trickier. In that case, you'll need to do it within the mixer area itself.
Let's say you wanted to drag tracks 90 to 99 to reside in front of track 49.
It's easiest to do this by showing tracks 48 and 49 and tracks 90 through 99.
With tracks 90 through 99 selected, interact with the channel strip of track 90
and move down to the track name. Issue a mouse-down command and stop
interacting with the track. Navigate to Track 48 and mouse up. The tracks
should now jump in front of track 49. This assumes you have your mouse pointer
following the voiceOver cursor.

I demoed this method on the Roger group some months ago but I'm not sure if
anybody archived it. I can gladly record an mp3 of the process if anybody is
interested. Hope that helps a bit.

Slau

P.S. Yeah, that missing files dialog isn't fun. Luckily, I rarely encounter it
but, when it comes up, it's kind of a drag, so to speak.

Basically i’m trying to move some tracks around in a session. but i can’t

to move things in the track list table with all tracks shown and using the
mouse up and down command. No go. fine. i hid all tracks except two
tracks. The track i wanted to move, and the track i wanted my track to
jump in front of. no go. it just wouldn’t move. So then i went in to the
mix window, interacted with the track found the track name hit the mouse
down command, and moved to the track i wanted my track to jump in front
off and hit the mouse up command. i can’t get the bloody track or any
track to move in this project. I’ve seen this before. but for god’s sake
why. I don’t mean to fume, but i find these things so damn time consuming.
Is there some other way of being these damn tracks to move. hopefully this

that. I know i need to upgrade, I just can’t do it for a week or so.

Re: moving tracks again

2016-07-10 Thread Slau Halatyn
Hi Steve,

Glad it worked. I've also had success in the Mix window by showing only the
track or tracks I wish to move and the track in front of which I wish to move.
Making sure only the tracks that are supposed to move are selected, I interact
with one of the selected tracks, navigate to the bottom of the channel strip
where the name of the track is displayed and perform a mouse-down command. I
then stop interacting with the track and navigate to the track in front of
which I want to drop the selected tracks and do a mouse-up command. This has
worked for me every time I've attempted it. At any rate, you're set for now.

"The Weight of Words" is indeed in the iTunes Store. If you just search for
"Slau" it should come up as one of the first results.

Cheers,

Re: moving tracks again

2016-07-08 Thread Slau Halatyn
Hi Steve,
Sometimes when trying to move a track that's way down the list of a session
with a larger number of tracks, it can be challenging because, as you know,
VoiceOver sees things that are not necessarily visible on screen and, when you
use the mouse-down command, you could be clicking and dragging but not on a
part of the screen that has the track you wish to drag in plain view. If that's
the case and you do have a track toward the bottom of the list that you wish to
move up, try this slightly unorthodox approach:
Select all of the tracks before it, go to the top track and use the mouse-down
command and drag to the track that appears below the track you wanted to move
up. In the process of dragging down, I believe the window naturally scrolls. In
the end, what you're doing has the same effect of moving the track up but what
you've actually done is moved all of the other tracks down below it—six of one,
half a dozen of the other. Let me know if that works. I'm stepping out to go
buy a new iPhone but I'll check back in a while to see if it worked.

Cheers,
Slau

moving tracks again

2016-07-08 Thread Steve Sparrow
Ok well just started off to a good days work to find another snag.
Has anyone seen this and if so why would this happen.
Basically i’m trying to move some tracks around in a session. but i can’t move
any of them. I’ve used all the methods i am aware of. First i tried to move
things in the track list table with all tracks shown and using the mouse up and
down command. No go. fine. i hid all tracks except two tracks. The track i
wanted to move, and the track i wanted my track to jump in front of. no go. it
just wouldn’t move. So then i went in to the mix window, interacted with the
track found the track name hit the mouse down command, and moved to the track i
wanted my track to jump in front off and hit the mouse up command. i can’t get
the bloody track or any track to move in this project. I’ve seen this before.
but for god’s sake why. I don’t mean to fume, but i find these things so damn
time consuming. Is there some other way of being these damn tracks to move.
hopefully this is just a pt 11 issue and if 12 is better in this area, then
i’ll except that. I know i need to upgrade, I just can’t do it for a week or so.
Thanks again.

problems moving tracks explained

2015-06-17 Thread Slau Halatyn
For those who followed Chad's question about not being able to move a track,
here's an explanation of what I believe to be the problem and a solution. Chad
sent me his Pro Tools file and I had a look at it. As I've said before, the
number one reason why moving tracks or mouse clicking occasionally doesn't work
with VoiceOver is because there's a dialog or window obscuring the underlying
UI element. In Chad's situation, this wasn't the case. The issue, it seems, is
that there are over 70 tracks in the session. The Tracks List table is capable
of displaying perhaps 32 or so at best. Visually, there's a scroll bar to
expose the invisible tracks. With a physical mouse click and drag, moving up or
down that table will automatically scroll the list. As you probably know,
VoiceOver is capable of seeing items despite they're being hidden and so, when
you have 70 tracks and you're trying to move the fifty-ninth track, even though
VoiceOver is reading the name and it appears that you're focused on it, it's
actually out of view and performing a mouse click yields an undesirable effect
like bringing up the Groups List pop-up menu.

So, here's how I got around the problem and this should work in similar
circumstances:

Hide all other tracks and show only the track you wish to move and the track in
front of which you wish to move. That sounds confusing, I know. Let's say you
want to move track 59 to follow track 51, you would only show tracks 59 and 52.
When you drag a track "over" another, it will jump in front of that track so,
if you want to follow track 51, you need to drag to track 52 and the dragged
track will jump in front of 52 or, in other words, after track 51. Next, make
sure track 59 is the only selected track.

OK, since you only have tracks 59 and 52 showing. the track list will still
show all of the tracks but the mix window's main section will only display the
two tracks that are shown. Move to track 59 and interact with it. Navigate to
the track's name toward the bottom of the channel strip. A quick way to do this
is to press Control-Option-End and move backwards. When you're focused on the
name, issue the mouse-down command. Stop interacting with track 59 and navigate
to track 52, interact and move down to the name just like you did with track 59
and issue the mouse-up command. It's entirely possible that it's not necessary
to interact with that second track and maybe the drag will work as expected. I
haven't tried that but I wouldn't be surprised if that worked just as well.

Hopefully, that'll help others who might experience the same issues.

Slau

i’m also interested in this thread, usually i have no problem dragging tracks
around, But i have had trouble in some sessions getting this to happen, i’d be
very interested to know if there is something i have done to make it not work
properly. as i say, i’ve only seen it in a couple of sessions, but it’s very
annoying when it does not work.

That's odd. Technically, you don't have to have any other tracks shown. Send me
a copy of the session file itself without any audio and I'll test it out.

Chad,
Here is how to do this.
1. In the track list table, go to the track that you want to move, and do a
mouse down command vo command shift space on that track.
2. Go to where you want to put the track and then do that same command again,
but now you will here voiceover say mouse up. This should move the track to
where you want it to go. Hope this makes sense.

moving tracks using Voice over

2015-06-16 Thread Chad Morrison
Hello I was wondering if some one would be willing to write out instructions on
how to drag tracks to a new location using voice over?
here is my problem… the vocalist sang the main part of the hook 4 times. than
he sang the same part 4 more times an octave lower. When I imported the
Audio files they imported with the 1st 3 main vocal tracks in order with the 4
octave tracks below them in order. However, for some reason the 4th main vocal
track ended up below the 4 octave tracks. I would like to move the 4th main
vocal track up with the rest of the main hook vocal tracks. I have tried
locating the track in the track list, routing the mouse with VO Command f5 ,
using VO, shift plus command space to lock the mouse arroing to the place in
the track list I would like the track to go and repeating the lock mouse
command. however, When I look at the track list the audio track I was trying
to move is still in the original place. I have tried this with all tracks
showing, just the hook vocal tracks showing and just the track I am wanting to
move showing. still, I can not get the track to move. This leads me to
believe I am doing some thing wrong. I have got this to work in the past but
have been having trouble as of late. Not only with this project but with
others as well. If some one could help me I would appreciate it very much.
Thanks,
Chad

Re: moving tracks

2012-06-30 Thread CHUCK REICHEL
Hi Kevin,
Unless I'm missing something all you half to do is to do a "mouse down" on the
track and then navigate to where you want to drop it to in the tracks table and
then do a "Mouse UP" and bang its moved! :)
As I always say the tracks table must be resized to the right 30% for this to
work.
Also the track must be selected to!
Unfortunately Avid has not fixed the fact that we can't see the move bar for
the tracks table to move.
This has all been covered in many past emails of course!
I have my num pad set up for 1 of the keys to be mouse down and another num pad
key to be mouse up which makes it very easy and rapid!
Kevin why don't your reply emails contain the original text that your
responding to?
Just curious? ;)
YMMV

Unfortunately, I don't think there is one. In OS 9, we could actually click
drag on the track and move it. Voiceover won't let us do that for some reason.

moving tracks

2012-06-29 Thread Chris Snyder
Hi again,
I have a much simpler question to answer. Can you tell me what the keyboard
command is to move tracks up or down in the track list? I looked in the
shortcuts file, and I can't seem to find it.

Thank.
Friendly,
Chris
