Re: [Qgis-developer] QGIS 2 becomes slow and freezes when editing and saving PostGIS layers

2014-01-06 Thread Pedro Venâncio
Hi Richard,

Yes, of these three, I had the Multipart Split.

I suspected that the problem could be some plugin. I uninstalled some, but not
these...

I'll check if the problem is gone, or if there is another plugin causing the
same behavior.

This was one of the worst problems I encountered in QGIS. I had to restart QGIS
several times during longer editions. Thankfully the cause was diagnosed!

Thank you very much!

Hi,

if you need the multipart split try the EditTools plugin. Multipart
split is included there (and much more :-). EditTools does not suffer
from this bug.

The Multipart Split plugin should also be fixed. The Author would

I made a patch to the multipartsplit plugin. The problem should be solved
by now. Please confirm.

Best regards,

PS: In the next release to QGIS (2.2) there is a core tool to split
multipart features, so this plugin will no longer be necessary.

Plz have a look into this issue report:

http://hub.qgis.org/issues/9229

It turns out that certain python plugins are registering and
deregistering actions in a way it makes QGIS go slow.

Disabling (or removing the plugins) helps.

See the issue for 3 known affected plugins, plz add others if you can
find others with the same problem.

Re: [Qgis-developer] QGIS 2 becomes slow and freezes when editing and saving PostGIS layers

2013-11-24 Thread Pedro Venâncio
Hi,

I can now say that the slowness problem does not only affects PostGIS layers.
It also happens to me with any kind of shapefiles (points, polylines and
polygons).

It's an erratic behavior, does not have a regular pattern, and does not always
happen. What seems to me is that only happens when I have labels in the project
(not necessarily in the layer being edited).

Since, apparently, it is not a behavior that everyone can confirm, may be some
plugin that is causing this behavior?

Thanks.

Best regards,
Pedro

Hi,

In the recent times it has happened to me a strange thing, and I do not know
what is the source, it may be that you have already identified something.

When working with Postgis layers in QGIS, every time I save changes of an
editing layer, I notice that the recording process is slower, until the moment
when QGIS ends up freezing.

Another situation where QGIS freezes very often, is when creating new
fields/columns in the attribute table of PostGIS layers. I add new fields, but
when I try to save them, QGIS freezes and PostgreSQL keep the UPDATE process
of the table as IDLE. In some cases, after stopping the process, I see that
the changes were saved and applied to the table, but I have to kill QGIS
because it is frozen.

This has happened to anyone? I really do not know if it is a QGIS problem, but
the truth is that I do not remember this happening with QGIS 1.8, and now it
happens to me very often.

PostGIS (2.0.1 / PostgreSQL 9.1.10) is in a remote Linux machine, but on the
same network. QGIS is version 2.0.1 on a Windows 7 machine.

Thank you very much.

Pedro
