The installer is currently under preparation - be pqatinet for some
extra days. Unfortunately compiling all the toolchain under windows is
much more tricky than it should be.

[Qgis-user] project files

2009-01-14 Thread Agustin Lobo

Having QGIS data and the qgs project file in an external disk
has the problem that the actual path for the disc can change.
Is there an elegant way of just modifying the root so that
you don't have to browse for each layer? I'm using the
inelegant way of editing the qgs file and replacing, i.e.,
"E:\" by "F:\"

Thanks

No, there's currently no way to do that. But there's an enhancement
request for such a feature: http://trac.osgeo.org/qgis/ticket/1211

Ok, that's great - I'll keep an eye out for it.

Sorry if I appeared to be impatient - I just wanted to ask, as it wasn't
clear whether the installer linked from downloads section was the
official/final release for Win32.

Good luck with the compiling, and many thanks.

[Qgis-user] GPS active tracking plugin in qGIS

2009-01-14 Thread STEVENS Mike
Dear qGIS users,

I am writing from the Grampians National Park in Victoria, Australia and
have recently been put on to your site from a Canadian colleague
involved in GIS.

I am wondering if anyone has developed a plugin to allow for live
tracking? - i.e. Have a GPS connected (either via USB or Bluetooth) and
let you track whilst having the software open with various layers? This
would be very handy for real time positioning of monitoring / research
plots and ground truthing survey points whilst out in the field.

Advice greatly appreciated on 1. Has it been developed?, 2. Is the
plugin available for MacOSx? 3. Where can I download it?

Hi Mike.
Such a plugin should be easy and quick to write in python, so I would
suggest you hiring a qgis dev for that.

There have been some efforts, but I'm not sure if there's something
around ready to be used. In case you're ready to experiment with code,
these resources might be useful:

- a simple "navigation" plugin I started about two years ago in a
branch of QGIS. Beware, the API and build system has changed quite a
lot from that time so compiling it with recent QGIS sources won't be
painless. I've used gpsd daemon for GPS input

https://trac.osgeo.org/qgis/browser/branches/Lib_Refactoring-branch/src/plugins/navigation
- a simple navigation application based on QGIS - Quantum Navigator -
but it has only GPS simulator, missing a real GPS input

I don't think anything is wrong with PyQt4. Instead of deleting
necessary items from the application bundle, you need to delete your
incompatible plugin. From the terminal do:

rm -r /Users/bernardo/.qgis/python/plugins/newlayer

That will take care of the offending plugin. You may have others, in
which case, doing:

rm -r /Users/bernardo/.qgis/python/plugins

is probably preferable (start with a clean slate for the new API in
1.0.0).

You also need to reinstall your qgis application because you need
everything inside the application bundle. Deleting things from there
will break it every time.

John

Bernardo: you have an old plugin, that should be upgraded.
Better remove all your plugins from the home directory, and let the new
installer pick up the appropriate plugins.

[Qgis-user] Color table for raster map

2009-01-14 Thread Agustin Lobo

I've got a landcover map in raster format (a tif file)
from GLOBOVER
(http://postel.mediasfrance.org/en/BIOGEOPHYSICAL-PRODUCTS/Land-Cover/)

The raster is opened in QGIS as "Single Band Grey"
How can I set an arbitrary color table? I can see how
to set a ramp, but this is a classified image, in which
integer values stand for different types
i,e,:
11 Post-flooding or irrigated croplands (or aquatic)
14 Rainfed croplands
20	Mosaic cropland (50-70%) / vegetation (grassland/shrubland/forest)
(20-50%)

for which different colors should be set as in "unique value"
for vector maps.

Thanks

Re: [Qgis-user] Color table for raster map

2009-01-14 Thread Peter Ersts

The easies way is to make a text file (classification.txt) and add the
color entries by hand. So the contents of the file will look like:

INTERPOLATION::EXACT
11,0,0,255,255,Post-flooding or irrigated croplands (or aquatic)
14,0,255,0,255,Rainfed croplands
20,255,0,255,Mosaic cropland (50-70%) / vegetation
(grassland/shrubland/forest) (20-50%)

This will set pixels 11 to blue, 14 to green and 20 to red. The format
is really basic.

pixel value, red, green, blue, alpha, label (no commas)

Then on the colormap tab, you can click the "Load color map from file"
button, second one from the top right.

Eventually it is planned that it will be able to read a variety of
different colormap formats.
