Hallo, the data is in lat/lon and WGS84 datum as stated on the download page http://gadm.org/country if you use this projection for the project you get the compressed appearance In order to get an appearance similar to DEU_adm.png you might e.g. use UTM-WGS84 projection (in this case use EPSG:32632). tick on-the-fly-projection in project properties. Re: [Qgis-user] Re: Closure of forum
As a once new user, I found google regularly returned useful results from both the mailing list and stack exchange. I have never joined the forums. As long as the website remains clear on how these resources can be accessed, I imagine the bases are relatively covered. As said above, we can always wait and see if noticeable problems occur, before adding yet another spread-out resource. In general, I agree with the discussion carried on throughout, that some degree of centralized information needs to occur. While manuals are great, they can also be inaccessible. I am an advocate of a centralized hub of past questions and answers and tips that improve accessibility to newcomers. -- all the best, Lee Mueller ISA Certified Arborist Registered Forester #46043 On Thu, Apr 5, 2012 at 7:00 AM, Nathan Woodrow madman...@gmail.com wrote: I'm not overly keen on creating our own QA site just yet unless we can start to see problems with gis.stackexchange.com. The same thing happens when using latest QGIS master 1.9.90. Hi, some time ago we where discussing about removing GoogleLayers plugin in favor of OpenLayers plugin. [Qgis-user] about some ellipsoïdal distances
Dear QGis Developpers and Users First of all many thanks to the Developpers of Qgis for this wonderful and user friendly Sofwaret. I'm sure that Qgis will become more and more a "standard" in the next few years So, just a small point (and I hope to be wrong with this, but if it is the case i don't see where) : as i needed to find quite exactly some ellipsodal distances, I'm afraid to have also found that in some cases theellipsodal distance could have some problem in QGIS 1.7.4 (tested versions Windows and Debian). This could depend on the algorithm used and the geographical position of the points. The following table suggests for few studied points that the ellipsodal distances computed in Qgis 1.7.4 was overestimated and quite different than ellipsodal distances computed with the help of two geodesic estimations point name in the study East EPSG:27572 (m) North EPSG:27572 (m) Lat WGS84 (obtained from deprojection in latlon WGS 84 in QGIS 1.7.4) deg. dec.
