[Qgis-user] Cannot export selected layer
In QGIS 1.8 I selected a subset of polygons by attribute from a vector layer I wanted to save only the selected polygons and delete the rest So I chose Layer/Save selection as vector file and saved as SHP, The message box said this was successful, but it did not export any thing. Only empty files were created I tried another way, by saving the selection as CSV. This time the message said it had been saved but in fact no file was created. Strange. In the orginal layer, the selection is clear. I even tried to invert selection and then delete the new selection, leaving me only with the polygons I wanted, but the delete selection button was greyed out ___ Qgis-user mailing list Qgis-user@lists.osgeo.org http://lists.osgeo.org/mailman/listinfo/qgis-user
[Qgis-user] Ftools and MMqgis behave differently
I made an experiment trying to follow this (http://www.surfaces.co.il/?p=616). I used the suggested ftools option to create the vector grid. I also made a grid using mmqgis, and just to be safe a point layer as csv. Grids are in lat lon. Points were reprojected to a custom lcc CRS (INEGI´s parameters).I loaded the Ponints in ccl, defined that I wanted on the fly reprojection in the project and these are the problems: 1)Vector grid created with ftools just touch the points at the corners 2)MMqgis grid touch the points I wonder why is this happening, grid layers were created using the same interval (15 minutes). Following a suggestion in Stackexchange (see http://gis.stackexchange.com/questions/32353/how-to-display-both-scalebar-in-kilometers-and-grid-in-lat-long-degrees-in-quant/32359#comment43534_32359) I used the densify tool in ftools. I have the same result. The layer created with ftools is closer but do not touch the the points. [Qgis-user] Embeded layers/groups to 'normal' layers/groups
Hello, I'm having problems with embeded layers in MacOS 10.6.8. The main (master) project does not load and QGIs crashes. This is maybe because I'm trying to load more then 2 external projects with several layers each. I don't get any alert when I build the master project, but once it is saved, closed and reopened the crash happens. That's why embeding can not be a solution to my problem of having several projects, with styles, labels and queries needed to be put together. I know about copying & pasting style but I have lots of layers grouped with lot's of raster images and everything should be loaded one-by-one. I've tried the "Import project" plugin and it crashes too Is there any way transform embeded layers in 'normal' layers? - Julian Bogdani jbogd...@gmail.com http://bradypus.net ___ Qgis-user mailing list Qgis-user@lists.osgeo.org http://lists.osgeo.org/mailman/listinfo/qgis-user
Re: [Qgis-user] Trouble with overlay in 1.8.0
I have done some more testing and searching. For very simple datasets, it seems that most overlay operations work. The exception is for point datasets. I found Bug #5861 (Vector menu and Sextante -> ftools behaving inconsistently) that seems related. However, with some more complex datasets, I get problems with some line-polygon intersects and polygon-polygon unions. [Qgis-user] polygons' digitizing direction
Dear All, AFAIK it is a general rule that walking along a polygon's edge in digitizing direction the inside of the polygon is to the right, that means that the polygon's exterior boundary ist to be digitized clockwise (cw) and any hole counter clockwise (ccw). When digitizing polygons in QGIS I can do it either cw or ccw, same for holes. When working in a shape file saving a polygon digitized ccw the boundary is reversed and the polygon thus corrrectly saved. If working in a PostGIS layer the direction is saved as is, i.e. either cw or ccw. Is this on purpose or a bug? Excluding load balancing, what are the prior elements that could affect the overall performance? I mean, at the level of Apache, of the fcgi module layer, and the qgis_mapserv application itself? Hi Lorena, if you want to clip an image by using a mask layer, you must create first that mask layer, which must be a polygon layer. You can do so in Layer->New->New Shapefile Layer. Set for the mask layer the same reference system of the image. If you still have troubles please send to this list a detailed description of the error you get, e.g., a screenshot or the error message. I tried this out in QGIS 1.8.0 and it works.
