[Qgis-user] HTML tags in label expresion on QGIS 2.0.1

2013-10-22 Thread Paulius Litvinas
Hello list,

I tried to use HTML bold tag b/b for a part of label text in label
expression.

HTML tags are properly interpreted and rendered on Expression based label
dialog at Output preview, but unfortunately not the same on the map.

You can see in the image below - red and green areas.

http://img42.com/Hd4Zp

Maybe there is some kind of setting to enable this on map render? (I
couldn't find) Or this is a bug?

As I remember this used to work in 1.x versions.

Sincerely,

Paul

Hey,

HTML based labels aren't supported yet. What you see in the dialog is a
render preview using a QLabel which can handle HTML. I need to change that
to just use plain text rather then rich text.

It was never supported in any older versions.

Thanks for the info. Are there any plans for this?

Looks like I mingled QGIS labels with Mapguide labeling..

Re: [Qgis-user] Problem with WMS 1.1.1 data providers in QGIS 2.0.1

2013-10-22 Thread Bernhard Ströbl

Hi all,

I have a similar issue with geoserver.
QGIS2 request is:
http://my_internal_server/geoserver/ows?SERVICE=WMSVERSION=1.3.0REQUEST=GetMapBBOX=my_bboxCRS=my_crsWIDTH=242HEIGHT=278LAYERS=my_layerSTYLES=FORMAT=image/pngDPI=96MAP_RESOLUTION=96FORMAT_OPTIONS=dpi:96TRANSPARENT=TRUE
entering this URL in the browser results in a geoserver error message.
However if I leave out FORMAT_OPTIONS=dpi:96 (which, according to the
geoserver docs [1] should be supported) the map image is returned.

Two more remarks
1) not all layers fail with this request
2) QGIS 1.8 did not add this dpi-96 stuff, so all my layers worked in 1.8

What was the reason to intoduce the dpi96 stuff and could we probably
change that to a configurable option (yes/no) of the WMS connection?

Re: [Qgis-user] [Qgis-developer] Opening view or table using DBManager locks it in postgis

2013-10-22 Thread Alexandre Neto
Yes, I believe it is. At least the fact that only closing QGIS releases the
locks.
You can even create several locks on the same table if you keep removing
and adding the same table.

But, is it expected that a QGIS client can lock a postgis view in such way
that I can not even run a trigger on a related table? When I tried, QGIS
just hangs until I close the process in Postgresql. The opposite happens
when I try to delete a View via Pgadmin that is opened in QGIS, pgadmin
hangs until I close QGIS.

Thanks,

Alexandre

2013-10-22 Thread Jonathan Moules
Looking at the specs briefly, it doesn't seem like the ability to set DPI
explicitly is specified in WMS 1.1.0 or 1.3.0.
I guess that MapServer can't handle stuff it's not expecting. Maybe a
config option as Richard suggests.

 Hi Miguel,

the error message that you see is a (Minnesota) Mapserver error message.
Somewhere in the style definitions it expects a number (or not).

This url I get from QGIS in debug mode, and gives you your error:

 http://idecan2.grafcan.es/ServicioWMS/EspNat?SERVICE=WMSVERSION=1.1.1REQUEST=GetMapBBOX=152208.544610834447667,2940195.98510535480454564,692329.70807293173857033,3376338.62686863588169217SRS=EPSG:32628WIDTH=670HEIGHT=541LAYERS=EENNSTYLES=FORMAT=image/pngDPI=96MAP_RESOLUTION=96TRANSPARENT=TRUE

Bug if I remove the DPI=96MAP_RESOLUTION=96 part from it, I get a map:

 http://idecan2.grafcan.es/ServicioWMS/EspNat?SERVICE=WMSVERSION=1.1.1REQUEST=GetMapBBOX=152208.544610834447667,2940195.98510535480454564,692329.70807293173857033,3376338.62686863588169217SRS=EPSG:32628WIDTH=670HEIGHT=541LAYERS=EENNSTYLES=FORMAT=image/png

I'm not familiar with the exact WMS-standard, but as most WMS servers I
know (and use) can handle these two query parameters from QGIS, I think
it is a Mapserver configuration problem/error. You cannot let QGIS
 remove those params I think.

[Qgis-user] problem reading csv file (numbers read as strings)

2013-10-22 Thread Matteo Ghetta
Hi all,
I work with a debian machine, QGIS 2 and libreoffice 3.
I wrote a table with some field (two of them are x and y coordinates),
saved as csv and then I tried to upload it in qgis with the add delimited
text option.

Problem: numeric filed are read as strings and not as numbers and so I
cannot convert the table in a point shape (in Libreoffice numbers are read
as numbers and I can do some calculation with them).
It seems that it doesn't matter if a numeric field has a decimal part or
not, qgis does not recognize them as numbers anyway.

Any help is appreciated

Cheers

ok - wasn't aware of that.

What is the advantage of using these temp tables? That you do not have

I am not too familiar with the internals of db-manager. Does it
establish a session? Probably Giuseppe Sucameli can help.

Re: [Qgis-user] db-manager (temporary tables)

2013-10-22 Thread António M . Rodrigues
For me the advantage is simple: I have a few plpgsql functions which create
tables with variables computed from some quite large tables. I then use
these tables as input to create other result tables (with geometry).

And yes, the advantage is not to deal with multiple deleting in the end of
each session.

As you say, perhaps the best is to contact Giuseppe Sucameli to see whether
this could be improved (if of course is an useful feature for other users).

Thanks,
António

2013/10/22 Andreas Neumann a.neum...@carto.net

ok - wasn't aware of that.

What is the advantage of using these temp tables? That you do not have
to deal with deleting the table?

I am not too familiar with the internals of db-manager. Does it
establish a session? Probably Giuseppe Sucameli can help.

There are no temp tables in a database. Either it is a table, a view

Hi all,

I think the dpi parameter is a useful extension and should be added by
the QGIS client (given that the dpi are really correctly detected).

If a WMS server chokes on additional paramters it is not very well
designed. They can just ignore these extra parameters if they do not
know how to deal with it.

I'm not familiar with the exact WMS-standard, but as most WMS servers I
know (and use) can handle these two query parameters from QGIS, I think
it is a Mapserver configuration problem/error. You cannot let QGIS
 remove those params I think.

Hi,

That certain server is a pretty old Mapserver v. 5.0 and it does not like
the non-standard vendor parameter MAP_RESOLUTION=96. Fresh Mapservers do
not fail because of that and actually since version 6.0 Mapserver supports
vendor option MAP_RESOLUTION.

According to WMS standard servers should quietly skip extra parameters so
principally there is a bug in Mapserver 5.0. However, I do not like that
QGIS is adding always its own vendor parameters and users do not have a way
to turn off the non-standard parameters. I have two reasoning for this:

1) MAP_RESOLUTION is not defined in the standard and for server A it can
mean something different than for server B while QGIS may be awaiting still
something else.
2) Even vendor options should be skipped, we have here an example that some
servers may fail in skipping them. Nobody will fix Mapserver 5.0 and even it
is wrong, it is the QGIS user who suffers now. User can only ask server
admin to update (it may take a while) or switch off QGIS and use another WMS
client like OpenJUMP.

For my mind it should be possible to configure QGIS WMS to run in a safe
mode and use only those parameters which belong to WMS standard.

Thanks for all the replies.
I'm sure that with qgis 1.8 I had no problem in importing a csv file.
Anyway, that's my current file:

  ID X Y 2818/22/0834 3480240 5887204 2818/22/0851 3480183 5887073

5885731 B12T 3479805 5886002

As you can see there are no decimal numbers. You can find the csv file also
in attach.
Another problem: if I import a table (without coordinates and still as csv
file made in libreoffice) in the map canvas (just drag and drop it), qgis
still reads the numbers as strings (making the join option with another
shape file useless).

Re: [Qgis-user] Problem with WMS 1.1.1 data providers in QGIS 2.0.1

2013-10-22 Thread Jonathan Moules

For my mind it should be possible to configure QGIS WMS to run in a safe
mode and use only those parameters which belong to WMS standard.

+1

Thinking about it, what about a dialog where it's possible to configure
what a standard WMS request contains?

Ignore the fact it looks suspiciously like Excel, but imagine a QGIS dialog
that let you put pieces together like this:

Where % are predefined QGIS variables. Use a + and - button to
add/remove rows (and thus parameters) to the table.

Could work for WFS and WCS too.

Create various different profiles and distribute those as standard. Easy
to use for both lay-users (pre-configured profiles that are specification
compliant), and technical users.

True. A couple if lines would be helpful. Generally QGIS 2.0 is fairly
good at guessing, so it would be interesting to see what's confusing it.

Have you got the put apostrophes around text turned on?

If all else fails you can force QGIS to do what you want.

Thanks Alexandre..
Till 1.9 release QGIS asked immediately for the CRS. Now you have to
specify it in the properties of the layer you have added. This problem

But could you try to add a table (csv file) in the map canvas and see if

Alexandro,

When inputting a csv file, you need to create within the same folder a csvt
file, which sets the data type for each field and the number of characters.
Once you have created this file, then reqad in the csv and the data should come
in the correct format. You can have integer, real or text data types. Hope that
helps.

Because if I want to have the same, I have to save the file as dbf in
Libreoffice (no big deal, but unfortunately not everyone has

BTW: I resolved the import of the coordinates. It was my fault: I
installed qgis on my new debian and I forgot to enable the prompt for

QGIS and the db_manager use separate sessions. I didn't try, but I doubt
 that
you can load temporary layers created by db_manager into qgis.

Re: [Qgis-user] Convert Arc projects (MXD) in QGIS

2013-10-22 Thread Steve G
I have been able to dig into this a bit more (i.e. mxd to qgis). Just want
to report another handy tool that I recently found: ArcMap2SLD
http://arcmap2sld.geoinform.fh-mainz.de/ArcMap2SLDConverter_Eng.htm . I
have just started to use the tool and it works pretty well to create SLD
files for polygons and lines (I am using ArcMap 9.3, but imagine it works
similarly for 10.x, just be sure to use the correct version). For point
symbols I have found that if your project uses unique ESRI symbols (ESRI
fonts/styles), those don't convert into SLD.

A couple of notes based on my experience:

-I did not find the setup.exe as found in the install notes (I was using
version 1.2.2.1, I see that 1.3 has a setup.exe file). I followed this
blog post http://www.web-maps.com/gisblog/?p=75 . I had an open session
of ArcMap running with the layers that I wanted converted. I then ran
..\ArcMap2SLD\bin\ArcGIS_SLD_Converter.exe file.

-Under Extras, I selected LayersIn separate files. This creates a unique
SLD file for each layer in the mxd file) with the resulting file name: file
name+layer name (layer name from ArcMap)

-In QGIS add the vectors as normal. For each layer I then loaded the Style
(SLD)...Go into PropertiesLoad Style...

-The ArcMap Labeling properties did not convert to SLD (TextSymbolizer is
supposed to be supported)

I hope this helps anyone who is converting their mxd files to QGIS. If
anyone has any additional tips, please add to this thread.

-Steve G

Re: [Qgis-user] Multiple lines label in QGIS 2.0 print composer using wrap on character?

2013-10-22 Thread Carlos López PSIG
Hello Alexandre and everyone,
You can use Expresion based label in label properties...
For instance:

CASE
WHEN CRLFPOS1 = 0 THEN TEXT_TOP
WHEN CRLFPOS1 0 AND CRLFPOS2 = 0
THEN
substr(TEXT_TOP,1,CRLFPOS1-1)||'\n'||substr(TEXT_TOP,CRLFPOS1+1,length(TEXT_TOP)-CRLFPOS1+1)
WHEN CRLFPOS1 0 AND CRLFPOS2 0
THEN
substr(TEXT_TOP,1,CRLFPOS1-1)||'\n'||substr(TEXT_TOP,CRLFPOS1+1,CRLFPOS2-CRLFPOS1)||'\n'||substr(TEXT_TOP,CRLFPOS2+1,length(TEXT_TOP)-CRLFPOS2+1)
END

Where CRLFPOS1 is a numeric field with the position the first breakline
And CRLFPOS2 is a numeric field with the position the second breakline

TEXT_TOP is a string field that contain annotations.

I hope that my mail help you ...

Is there a way to create multiple lines label using a wrap on character
in QGIS 2.0 print composer? Or this must be done with html rendering?

I'm using atlas generation and the label source is attribute from my
 coverage layer.

  Thanks,

Re: [Qgis-user] Can't Add Oracle Spatial Vector Layer with QGIS 2.0 on Mac OSx

2013-10-22 Thread William Kyngesburye
Now I remember another reason(s) why I stopped supporting Oracle (in GDAL)...

Attitude - registration I can deal with, but requiring full business contact
info is too much.

They STILL don't know how to name OS X libraries. As is, cmake will not find
them. Neither will standard configure scripts (ie GDAL). This means renaming
the libraries (and fixing the internal linking) and organizing the libraries
and headers to build for them. But while end-users could do the same library
renaming without much fuss, the internal link fixing requires a tool from
Xcode, which defeats the point of installing prebuilt binaries.

I don't really want to deal with this. :(

But now that I look at it closer, I did not build QGIS with Oracle support
(it's direct support, not thru GDAL). I gave up on the OCI libraries for OSX
a long time ago, but maybe they've caught up recently. I'll look into it.
There's nothing you can do to get the existing build to work.

A guess: perhaps those Natural Earth layers contain vertices close to the
poles? EPSG:3857 is valid only between -85 - 85 degrees. If that is the case
it might to help to cut your vectors a bit at high and low latitudes.
