Re: [Qgis-user] Missing Raster Calculator in QGIS 3.34

2023-12-18 Thread Lene Fischer via QGIS-User
Hi Alex,
It sure does - but I have a feature request: Is it possible to add Resent -
Generic as in other expressions dialogs ?.

I just stressed a bit - because I didn´e realise before now - preparing for
lectures just after new year. And my material are from the previous version.
But I prefer the new version because we have missed this in the Model Builder.
So thanks!!
Regards
Lene

Hi Lene,

raster calculator is not missing, it is still there and the dialog you see is
the one you are looking for. This algorithm was ported to C++ earlier this year
and the algorithm dialog was unified with the rest of Processing tools. Also
there were some other changes aimed to fix several issues which made the raster
calculator algorithm unusable in the modeler context.

As for the predefined expressions functionality, it was removed as a result of
discussion between QGIS developers involved in Processing maintenance. It was
not missed or forgotten, it was an intended move.

Hope this helps

Reported an issue https://github.com/qgis/QGIS/issues/45986

Could I get others with access to WCS raster to test.

I'm not aware of any setting within the interface that allows you to toggle the
design of that unfortunately. Hopefully another user can help there.

A quick dig through the source code shows where that marker has its style set
though, so if you are building from source you should be able to tweak the
parameters here:

You have also the possibility to use 'View>New map view' First you have to
define different 'Themes'.

This is fantastic! Works vertical and horizontal, has one base layer fixed and
I can compare this one spontaneously to any other layer. It really helps
understanding the relations.

Thanks again, Germán,

Ahh that might explain the situation. It just 44 pixels – and with the very
long decimal – they are for sure all different.
I might shorten the decimals.
Thanks

Hi Lene,

Can you share a sample dataset?

I think it can be possible if the pixels have all different values, and so,
Zonal Statistics choose the minimum value as minority and majority, but it
could choose any other value, because any pixel value can be considered the
less and most represented, as they are all different.

Best regards,
Pedro Venâncio

Hi QGIS users,
the beta version of QAD plugin for QGIS3 is ready to test !
QAD (Quantum Aided Design) is a plugin which adds to QGIS3 a set of CAD
commands for editing geometries in a professional way.
Before publish it in the ufficial QGIS plugin repository we have to do a lot of
tests.
Let me know if you are interested to partecipate to this test phase as
volunteer.
Thank you for making QAD a better plugin.

Subject: [Qgis-user] QGIS form with multiple cascading elements

Hallo,
i want to build a custom QGIS form with multiple cascading elements.
They all should refer to the direct previous selection and only the first
element is hardcoded vis "value mapping" (not sure if the right english term,
"Wertabbildung" in german...).
I refer to the previous selection via: "..."=current_value('...') and have
imported multiple csv tables with my pairs of values.
My problem is, that only the first cascading element works (that refers to the
hardcoded values), all following once dont allow any selection, or they show
all values that are present in the relating csv table.

Doesnt the cascading form works with multiple elements or where could i
improve? I also tested a very very simple relation table, to eliminate
misspelling etc. but that one also behaved like the other tables.

Thank you and greetings,
Felix

Hi Lene!

The other setting you may find useful is the "Don't export page if
frame is empty" option. This option allows you to make multiple custom
pages which the table can flow onto, each with their own individual
arrangement of items and additional content, and then only export the
pages which are actually needed to fit the table's content.

The benefit of this approach vs "repeat until finished" is that it
gives much more flexibility in the appearance of the additional pages.
"Repeat until finished" adds extra pages, but these ONLY contain the
table frame and no other content (so no title labels, page # labels,
etc).

If you must have a .jpg, from the menu bar Raster->Conversion->Translate, then
specify a jpg file for output. Be warned - jpg only supports byte bands, so if
your input file is something like Float32, you're not going to get what you
want without more work.

If size is the issue, rather than the more specific desire to have a .jpg file,
you can control the compression of the TIFF when you save it, including the
option to use jpg compression within a tif container.
Select the raster layer, right-click Export->Save As

[cid:image001.png@01D4ECA7.69C3A4F0]

As in direct translation to jpg, you have to watch out for dataypes. This
approach doesn't solve the problem of converting a Float32 to Byte, for
example. You'll just get garbage (or at least that's my experience).
Other compression methods (eg, DEFLATE), do support most datatypes, so this
might be a better solution.

SAGA outputs SDAT grids that can be opened in QGIS, just drag and drop onto the

A temporary work around would be fire up SAGA itself and run fill sinks from

Re: [Qgis-user] Processing Saga Raster Volume

2019-01-29 Thread Lene Fischer
Hi Nyall,
Thanks for the new Raster surface volume in processing. My students will love
it!
They just finalized their GIS exam manually calculating raster volume for a
lake with different sea levels. This functionality would have saved them hours.

Just have to get used to a negative volume when calculating below sea level. :-)

Kind regards
Lene Fischer

Debatable. The volume IS there, it's just hidden in the middle of all
the SAGA terminal output in the log view. You can't automatically save
the volume, or use it within a Processing Model. So - it works, but
the SAGA tool has limited value. Personally, I'd say yes, a bug.

But the good news is that the algorithm is trivial to port to QGIS,
which I've done in https://github.com/qgis/QGIS/pull/8912. With any
luck we can get this new native tool included in 3.6, so we'll have a
good out-of-the-box algorithm available which calculates the volume,
allows saving it to a HTML report or vector table, and allows use of
the calculated volume within a Processing model.

From the PR description: "...honestly, if Lene struggles with a QGIS
tool, that indicates that the tool has issues -- not the user..." ;)

[Qgis-user] Processing Saga Raster Volume

2019-01-19 Thread Lene Fischer
Hi,

I´m trying to calculate a raster volume using Saga Raster Volume.

The process run smoothly in 5 sec., but I can´t see the result.

I have the processing log and result viewer open - but I get no result.

I´m using QGIS 3.4.3. on Windows 7

I have a work around with the Raster calculator and zonal statistic - but I
prefer the Saga version.

Is it a bug or ?

[Qgis-user] Data vanish if deleting a field/column in 3.4.2 Warning

2018-12-10 Thread Lene Fischer
In a lecture today we should delete a field/column in a table. Geopackage.

Deleting went well.

When trying to save - all data vanished. We were not able to undo or retrieving
the features.

When closing and opening again the open dialog showed all original 160 features
- but none in the attribute table or in the canvas.

Error message was something about OGR..

This happend for all the students with version 3.4.2 Windows

Students with 3.4.1 had no problem - and the same for students with 3.4.2 Mac
- (great fun because it´s always the Mac users who are having difficulties..)

I have filed a bug report

[Qgis-user] Geopagkage and "geom" in DBmanager

2018-09-12 Thread Lene Fischer
Hi,
Trying out a geopackage layer in DBManager asking a simple SQL statement st_area
But when I try to write a statement like this

SELECT "vandopland".* , st_area("vandopland"."geom") as areal_m2
FROM "vandopland"

"geom" is not found. Suggestions as geomfromexifgpsblob or geomfromfgf or
geomfromwkb . Then I get "an error occured"

Any suggestions what I might have done wrong.

Both issues are already fixed - just gotta wait for 3.2.3!

I did not know that it was possible to drag the layer into the browser - that's
very handy. But another way is to connect to the geopackage using DB Manager

Hello everyone,

I noticed, that there is no easy way for Matching a trajectory with a network
using QGIS. I did not found any plugin for that task and stackoverflow and gis
stackexchange are full with not really solved questions about this topic.
Because of this I created a QGIS Plugin for an offline map matching:
http://plugins.qgis.org/plugins/Offline-MapMatching/

I used a statistical approach with a Hidden Markov Model and the Viterbi
algorithm. Further information can be found on my GitHub site:
https://github.com/jagodki/Offline-MapMatching

Maybe the plugin can be useful for some people.

Sincerely,
Christoph

Hi - I am a new user struggling to pick up the fundamentals - I have
successfully imported a LIDAR raster layer and hillshaded / pseudo
coloured / contoured it.

My problem is that I want an image of a topographical map  behind it as
a base map to provide context.

The GIS I am familiar with had the facility to take an image eg TIFF,
JPG, PNG, georeference the four corners, and import it into a layer so
that it was matched to the vector map. This seems a simple and I should
have thought common requirement eg you want to put a TIFF of a historic
map behind the modern map you are creating.

I cannot see any way of doing it - am I being obtuse?

Any help appreciated

Wolstan

the simplest thing would be just forgetting to make a report. I´m sure most
people would think so.

If we want bug reporting from ordinary users – then me have to use another user
friendly platform eg GitLab.

I do know it´s not a simple thing to change system – but this is an issue that
need to be taken serious!

Re: [Qgis-user] Save label position in 3.2

2018-07-07 Thread Lene Fischer
Hi Richard,
Thanks a lot – this worked. Now I have labels on the roads.
https://qgiscloud.com/UAS_KU/tur/?e=705743%3B6213558%3B708994%3B6215150=EPSG%3A25832=tur=DTK%2Fkort25%20klassisk%2Cvejnavn%2Clang_rute%2Ckort_rute%2Csteder=

But I still would like to know how to retrieve the coordinates in the attribute
table.

Kind regards

Lene,

Hold the Press, I take back my last email!! Hope its not too late!!!

I have a solution for you!

https://gis.stackexchange.com/questions/288170/qgis-3-2-0-how-to-share-auxiliary-data-between-projects

Use QGIS 3 to create the additional fields with the field calculator, see
examples below

for example:
Field NameField Type
 Expression
lab_x Decimal (Real) (20,4)
"auxiliary_storage_labeling_positionx"

lab_y Decimal (Real) (20,4)
"auxiliary_storage_labeling_positiony"

lab_rot Decimal (Real) (20,4)
"auxiliary_storage_labeling_labelrotation"

Then set up the Auxiliary fealds to use your new attributes, this should then
work for QGISCloud!!

Regards,

Richard.

Hi,
It seems, as QGIS 3 is not LTR yet, its not fully supported by QGISCloud.
The only solution seems to be, to open the project in QGIS 2.18, add the x,y
and rotation attribution and relocate/rotate your labels again.
Sorry I cant be of more help.

Hi Lene,
In QGIS 2.1X If you create X,Y and rotation attributes, when you use the move
or rotate labels tools, the attribution is automatically updated. I would
assume its the same!, though open to correction!
Hope this helps.

If you go into Advanced parameters in the GDAL-module and you write -cl

How would you then suggest I make 3 different presentations ?

Yep, you're using it wrong! :)

Think of creating presets like a "snapshot" of the current configuration. The
action is disabled if the current state already matches an existing preset. So
you need to make some change to the configuration (e.g. toggling some layers),
and then you'll be allowed to create another preset.

Hi Lene,

that's the way it is. It's been on my wishlist to have more control over what's
saved for a while, but didn't happen so far.

You might try to manually edit the qml file and remove some definitions, but
not sure it works either.

tldr; FIRST create a categorized styling, then 'change' it to rules.

If you do a catagorized styling on the same data, you get indeed only the
values. There it would maybe nice to show (somewhere) the attribute name also
on which you categorize?

I think the rationale was that it would be nice to show some rule info in the
Label of the style?

BUT: if you first use categorized styling (with the good labels), then go back
to your styling dialog and select Rule-based, QGIS will 'morph'
the categories to styles BUT KEEP THE NICE LABELS \o/

[Qgis-user] Rule based style - categorize- label

2017-10-20 Thread Lene Fischer
Hi,
I´m trying to organize data in groups by making a rule based styling. In the
style I create a rule and then categorize. All fine.
But my problem is the label. Initially the label looks fine when I click
Classify. But when I click OK the rule is viewed in the label field, and I have
to do a typing manually :-O

I´ve made a small video https://www.screencast.com/t/Gwwd8S9l6 to shoe the
problem.

Any suggestion.

Hello Lene,

I am not sure you can avoid the manual editing task, unless you run a python

Hi Ross,

If you make your project without saving username and password, the project will
prompt for a user and password when opened. Then each member can login using
their assigned login and thus making it possible to use current_user in
postgres.

To remove saved username and password from your current project file (make a
copy, beforehand), you can open it in a text editor and seach for
untill you find

dbname='xx' host=yy port=5432 four lines above  and
remove the username and password-part only .

We use triggers in the database already and they work perfectly but if we want
to record the specific user creating and editing features then we'd have to
create separate projects for each user. At the moment the team of about 10
users all use a set of centrally stored project files - one for each different
task.

I found this post on Stackexchange
(https://gis.stackexchange.com/questions/217011/how-to-automatically-update-wfs-edits-with-a-user-id)
where global variables are used to populate fields when features are added.
However, as Matthias notes in the comments this doesn't work on feature
"update". If this were possible then it would meet all our needs. Maybe
something that could be funded?

Hi!
I've made the same things with triggers in the database. To avoid getting same
username I've chosen not to save the username and password in the project. But
then the user have to enter it every time the projects opens. If you can find a
solution to your suggested approach it would be nice.

Ämne: [Qgis-user] Updating a field set with default global variable on edit

Hi List,

Anyone know how to update a field that has a global variable set as the default
value when records are edited (geometry and/or attributes)?

We have a QGIS project with a PostGIS layer loaded and configured with look-ups
and relations so the users can update all the relevant fields. There are also
"created_by" and "updated_by" fields. These are updated by a trigger in the
database with the "current_user" database variable. This works fine if you are
the current user that added the layer to the project - the trigger works
perfectly.

If you give the project to someone else and they create and edit features in
the layer the fields are still updated with your name as you are the person who
added the layer to the project. Not what we want.

QGIS has global variables and there are some new ones - user_account_name and
user_full_name that can be set as default values for the fields. When a new
feature is created the field is populated with the correct name. Which is what
we want.

However, when we update an existing record we'd like the "updated_by" field to
be updated with the current "user_account_name". Like a trigger in the database
would do on update. Then we would have a better idea of the history of the
feature.

Not correct.
You can install WebODMon windows too.
Look at WEBODM.org.

I have judt been giving a workshop at FOSS4G in Boston about the topic.
It has a very poor GCP interaction - but in a very short time it would be
better. Stephen Mather was 5 minutes to tell about the issues.

[Qgis-user] Georeferencing in 2.18

2017-08-07 Thread Lene Fischer
Hi,
I´m trying to georeferenced an orthophoto in 2.18.9. Windows 7

After digitizing the points in the georef--> Set the settings-->Run the georef
- I get long red lines which mark the error.
The lines are long the error gives dY and dX values more than 100. I have seen
this bug in previous versions.
Can anyone confirm this error before I fill a Bug report.

That worked, thanks Andre:
I purged all the qgis and grass packages, changed the sources.list file to use
*only* the qgis.org/debian repo, then I got qgis 2.18.11 and grass 7.0.3. And
the grass plugin appears in qgis.

Hi Morten,

At the user list we all ask and reply questions.

If you encounter bugs it is important to fill in bug reports.
http://qgis.org/en/site/getinvolved/development/bugreporting.html#bugs-features-and-issues
Your 'job' as Bug-reporter is as important as the developers. It is the only
way to get the program better.
And you have made a great detective job to see which version the bug occour.

So please fill in reports :-)

BTW - are you attending at the QGIS conference in August?

Saving a shape file as cvs used in earlier versions to automatically add an x
and y attribute to the csv file. This does not happen anymore even though
geometry AS_XY is the default under Layer Options in the "Save vector layer
as..." dialogue.

If one chooses geometry AS_XYZ instead the columns are added to the csv file as

Hi Lene,

try the DigitizingTools plugin [1]. The function that does just what you want
is "Cut with polygon from another layer".
Be aware that this tool is intended for use during digitizing: you can decide
which features of layer A to cut and which features of layer B to use for
cutting by making selections. It is possible to cut all features of layer A
with all features of layer B, though.

[Qgis-user] How to 'difference' in existing layer

2017-02-13 Thread Lene Fischer
Hi

I have two layers of polygons
I want to make holes in the first layer using the second layer as mask.

I can do this by function ‘Difference’ – but the result is a third layer.
I would like the holes in the polygons to be in the first (existing) layer.

Any suggestions ☺

Hi Jorge,
Clip will, as you write result in a new file. I would like to perform the
action on the first file - as if I manually use 'Add ring' in the Advanced
Digitizing toolbar.

Hi Lene,

I'm not sure if I understood the question.

I would try the clip operation. You use the second layer to cut the first
layer. But the result is another layer. But a layer with holes :-)

I hope it helps!

Re: [Qgis-user] QGIS vs ArcGIS in Education and Practice

2016-12-16 Thread Lene Fischer
Hi all,
I´m working at University of Copenhagen, Forest an Landscape College.
Lecturing and working with GIS and GNSS.

GIS is on a tool – It´s the data and how we use the data that is important.

I was in the exact same situation 5 years ago. I had to decide a tool which
would give me both the tools and the flexibility to work with.
35 % of my students use Mac and 2 % Linux and the rest Windows. At the time we
worked in labs – but the Uni was about to change policy to ‘Bring your own
device’ – So I had to change.

We have courses from 5 days to 9 weeks – and the tool is being used in classes
all the way in the education. All of the students will use GIS in their later
work, but only a few as full time GIS pro.

It is of great importance to tell the students to use the tool available. Look
into the case and the data and then solve the problem with any tool. If you
learn to drive in a Ford – you can also drive a VW or Toyota – The only problem
is to Open the trunck or change oil ;-)

When this said – I use Open Source 95 % - That is the easiest. Here in Denmark
OpenSource has become a platform used in both public administration,
universities and private companies. And the in a mix together with proprietary
software.

With the mix of data available today – I would focus to use the 5 days to
introduce the students to vector, raster and point cloud data. Show them how to
manipulate both the geographical objects and the attribute data.

And in a few years we might not use GIS as we do today – It might be SQL and
Databases we should look into rather than worry about logo and names of
products.

Dear List,

I was asked to give a 5 days international GIS training course at the
university and proposed to do it with QGIS. The program leader finally insisted
on doing it with ArcGIS arguing that the students had better chances to find a
job knowing ArcGIS rather than QGIS. This argumentation does not reflect my
long professional experience as a GIS consultant at all!
But how can I proof that knowing QGIS is the better choice for young GIS
professionals than ArcGIS (or at least that both systems are equally suited)?
Does anybody know any official numbers of GIS users worldwide or on the
worldwide application of QGIS over ArcGIS?

I know the Master thesis from Boku Vienna
(https://geoobserver.wordpress.com/2016/02/09/arcgis-vs-qgis/) but it is
focused on a technical comparison of both systems only.
Also the link
https://www.g2crowd.com/grid_report/documents/gis-winter-2016-report is not
really helpful because it is based on some 40 reviews only and therefore not
representative.
I really need to know some proven facts on the number of global QGIS users and
renown companies using QGIS worldwide.

Thanks for your help in advance,
Markus

Re: [Qgis-user] Lat/Long Grids

2016-12-11 Thread Lene Fischer
Hi Grant,
I do understand.
At first you can choose between decimal, degree/min , Dec/min/sec. That part
one of the solutions.
Secondly you can use the offset. Simply take the minutes eg 42 and divide it
with 60 in the x box write 42/60. It will then change the value to 0,7 and the
grid will show as you wish.

Subject: RE: [Qgis-user] Lat/Long Grids
Hi Lene,

I have played around with these settings but my problem is getting QGIS to plot
a grid with a specific value (say 123 deg 42 min for example), not as an
automatic selection (123 deg 42.7 min) based on the interval (which is in
decimal degrees). Ideally what I need it to do is to plot the grid at a
specific minute spacing, not a decimal degree spacing.

Hope that makes sense!

Cheers Grant

Hi Grant,
In the Print Composer>Item Properties>Map you can find Grids / Draw Grid/ Draw
Coordinate
Here you can specify the CRS and the format of the coordinates.

Hi Lene,

You can use the new Node tool prototype (works fine as a plugin) + the Advanced

See animation in the point 7:

Re: [Qgis-user] Drones in forestry

2016-12-02 Thread Lene Fischer
Hi Piotr,
If your only purpose is to find holes in the forest, you can do it using
satellite images with a high resolution. And then digitizing...
Buying a drone is easy - but flying a drone takes time, experience, time, try
and error, learning about regulations ect ect...

You can get so much more information from aerial images captured by a drone:
Ortophoto, Surfacemodel, PointCloud and if you use special camera - a
vegetation index...
From the surface model taken over time, you can calculate growth and canopy
cover. From a vegetation index (eg. NVDI you can find unhealthy vegetation).
Ect ect..

In September 2016 there was a conference in Krakow http://sigforestry2016.eu
just about these topics.

So before you start - you have to consider tree things: Accuracy, area and aim
for the project.

As others have written - With a copter you don´t fly larger areas pr. Battery.
With a Phantom 3, on a good day (temp/wind) we fly 15-20 min/battery.
With a fixed wing you can fly 1-2 hours / battery.
Both can be bought within your budget.

Tips for data collection - read this easy page
https://www.mapsmadeeasy.com/data_collection
If you want absolute accuracy in 3D - you need x, y, z Ground Control Points
-. If you want relative accuracy you need 2D (x, y) GCP.

For handeling you images into ortophoto, surface model, point cloud, nvdi ect -
you can try out a lot of programs. That´s easy - 2-4 weeks free try out. But
they all cost a lot of money...
You can try out OpenDroneMap. It run on Linux (Try it on a Virtual Machine) -
It´s OpenSource - And you can pay what you can afford. That´s the beauty of
Open Source. So remember in your budget to spend some money for the Open Source
projects too!

And in the end you can use QGIS for your data: Point Cloud, Raster Calculator,
HillShade, Raster Colorize, Profile tool, LASTool ect.
We use all these at our campus.

Hi!

I'm sorry if my question is out of the main topics - my current employer would
like to buy drone. They would like to use it for "registration"
such things as (for example) - small areas without trees in dense forest, that
were cut (it's not a national park, but normal typical forest -> so here we
have timber harvest etc.); here is link to Google Maps, that shows what I mean -

https://goo.gl/maps/iEPchbrTYyQ2

Normally I (or someone else) must walk with gps receiver, then digitize that
"holes" in qgis. The idea is to use drone for that - and here is my question -
what would you recommend? - I know the max. acceptable price is about 2300 usd,
but it's better to assume 1200 usd. I think my employer would be already happy
if such "drone" just make aerial photos that can be used for mapping, I don't

Re: [Qgis-user] Drones in forestry

2016-12-01 Thread Lene Fischer
Hi Piotr,
If your only purpose is to find holes in the forest, you can do it using
satellite images with a high resolution.

I think my employer would be already happy
if such "drone" just make aerial photos that can be used for mapping, I don't
think that my company would like to have some 3d data (DEM, DSM).

Thanks for any hints

Did you try the osgeo4w installer or just standalones? Please check the new

Try redownloading the installer from the qgis website and reinstalling. I
believe there may have been a packaging issue when the installer was first
uploaded and you might be using the bad package.

Hi Kory,

Field calculator :
It works fine here - If you select a feature - and update - please remember the
toggle for 'Only update selected feature'
So if you have selected one feature and then updated.
Also remember - that a calculation is only values at that moment. It is not a
dynamic calculation. You have to update if you move your feature.

Emne: [Qgis-user] QGIS 2.16 Form View and Field Calculator Buggy?

I'm running into all kinds of seemingly buggy behaviors with the form view and
field calculator on QGIS 2.16. Here are some actions and results:

FORM VIEW
1) Start a fresh QGIS project.
2) Create a new point Shapefile layer.
3) Add a new field "test_num" as a decimal number and "text_txt" as text data.
4) Toggle edit mode and add a point. Give id as "1", others as NULL.
5) Save layer edits.
6) Open attribute table in table view and enter some text in "text_txt".
7) Switch to form view.
BUG 1?: "text_txt" displays NULL instead the text. Clicking around and
even saving does not seem to refresh the view. The only thing that seems to
work is to click off of the item in column preview and then select it again.
8) In form view, open field calculator.
9) Select update existing field and "text_num".
10) Enter a number in the expression space and click OK.
BUG 2?: "text_num" displays no change.

FIELD CALCULATOR
11) Add another point to the canvas.
12) Save edits.
13) Open field calculator.
14) Enter "$x" in the expression space and check the output preview.
15) Select the other point.
16) Recheck the value for "$x"...It's the same as before.
BUG 3?: This might be me misunderstanding how these variables work, but I
thought $x and $y should change depending on the current feature selected or
being edited? In an actual work layer with many points, I keep getting the
same values for $x and $y regardless of what I try.

Trying similar actions to bug hunt has resulted in at least 2 freezes/crashes
of QGIS along the way, too.

Lene,
It will depend on your attributes and how you have set it up, but, under Layer
Properties, Style the colours can be set using the Data defined override option
(Form Icon) Click on this and select Edit, from her you can create the
variables you want. On the right you will see a group called Colour, depending
on how you specify your colour will depend on how you use this. For example say
you have RGB values in three diferent columns, select Colour and then
colour_rgb this will add color_rgba( to your expression, then using Fields
and Values, select the appropriate Red, Green and Blue attributes from the
table and close the brackets you should have something like color_rgba("red",
"green", "blue") you will know it has worked, as the Output Preview on the
bottom left will display the RGB value.
Similarly, if you have a single column for your RGB (formatted correctly) the
same formula would be used, buy you would have a single field (column) in the
expression.
Hope this is clear!
Regards,

Richard.

[Qgis-user] Style, color and legends - With expressions

Hi,
I´m working with Style, Colors and legends.

I have 2 questions:

1.I classify by choosing a column in the attribute table. Is it possible to
somehow add the values for the legend from another column?

2. I classify by choosing a column in the attribute table. In Symbol>Simple
fill> Fill I write an expression for the color (Color_rgba). And the right
color values are shown in the map. But the legend are different. Is there a way
to synchronize/adjust so the legend and the map show the same?

Hello,

I'm want to sum up the length of all the streets in my community.
I have a vector file with the streetmiddlelines.
Under Vector there are the analysis tools and one of them is called
"Lijnlengtes sommeren". It seems that this would be the right tool. When I open
up the dialog and fill in the output file and select the streetmiddlelines, the
tool complains that I haven't selected a vectorlayer as output. There is
another dropbox where you can select a polygon vector layer (Why would you do
that if you want to sum up lines?). If I select a polygon layer then the tool
keeps running indefinitely. Seems that this is a useless tool, or am I doing
something wrong?

Am I the only one having trouble with 64 bit integer fields (qlonglong or

"Group Stats" regards them as text, while "Join attributes by location"
ignores them when making attribute summarys.

I am using the windows 64 bit version in win 7 installed from Osgeo4w.

I'm teaching a GIS course with QGIS, and the students noticed that when we make

categories" from the geoalgorithms toolbox), we can't use the "joined" field to
define the layer style. Is this a bug?

[Qgis-user] Raster Save As GeoTIFF Virtuel Raster -Errors

2016-04-17 Thread Lene Fischer
Hi,
Trying to save a part of a WMS as a GeoTIFF
Right click and Save As.
I Choose a Rendered Image and create a VRT
Same resolution and CRS as the original image.

Click at Add saved file to map.

Now my problems begin:
1: I get an Error – saying ‘Unsupported datasource .TIFF…’
2: When I open the VRT file – It is not saved in the folder I choose – but in a
new folder with ‘.TIFF’ added as name
3: The image is not placed in the same place as the original. If I save an area
2x1 km. there is a North/South error aprox. 5 meter. If I save a smaller area
the error also gets smaller.

Any suggestion what I might do wrong ?

Re: [Qgis-user] Raster - values and histogram

2016-04-17 Thread Lene Fischer
Hi Nicolas,
I have now been reading into the vrt file.
All Nodata are the same -

It seems as if the vrt file takes the min max value from the first rasterfile.
I have compared data in the browser.
If I go to style>properties and load ‘min-max’ actual values. These values are
written into the vrt-file.
So when I close and reopen the vrt file it is back to start again.

It seems to be a bug.
Could you do me a favor and try this out before I´ll file a ticket.

Hi,

I am not sure if there is a bug but since you have a virtual raster, I would
look to see if they all have the same no data values. Try loading only one
raster or try saving the virtual raster as a tif and setting the no data
value. Do you have the same problem?

If Qgis does not recognize the no data value, it may be thrown out by trying to
stretch the image from -32768 to whatever you have. In that case, your raster
will not be "viewed correctly" as it is trying to display more than 256 shades
which is the max a screen can handle. In that case you would see only black and
white.

Hope this help!

Hi Lene,
seems your one or both from your input layers have 2.5D
geometry.

Hi,
Trying to clip a vector line layer with a vector polygon layer I get an error
“Input layer has unsupported geometry type -2147483646”

Both layers has the same CRS
Both layers are checked for illegal geometry.

Earlier today I performed same action with data created in QGIS and with a
perfect result.
The data look similar in the browser – metatdata.
Any suggestion to what might be wrong.
Regards
