[ql-users] improving composite output?

2007-03-15 Thread silvercreekvalley
I've noticed that the composite PAL output from
my QL is quite rough - the output is quite jittery
and colours ghost where they overlap.

Is there any way of tidying the output up at all?

I'm using the composite output incidently because
I can feed the signal into a PAL-SVGA converter
and hence display on my monitor easily.

The output is also jittery on a regular PAL monitor
so its not the converter (unfortunately).

Thanks

Ian.

Not really - the QL was poor in this respect.
Is this on all your QLs?

The 1377 chip does the job but if all your QLs are the same, then it
cannot be that. The Atari ST used similar hardware, but gave a better
result.

Re: [ql-users] Hove Show

2007-03-15 Thread gwicks
I have had another idea about the activities at the Hove show.

For some time now we have been promised an all new, whistles, bells and
ribbons, updated Quanta website. This is near to fruition as Quanta has
found a webmaster, although he will only officially take up his duties at
the AGM. However I understand from my mole in the heart of Quanta that work
on the site is well advanced.

Surely Hove is a good opportunity to give us a live preview. Much more
interesting to see the thing in practice than having to listen to promises
during the AGM.

It is also a good chance for Quanta to show off some real gains that are
being made. Quanta's publicity for the electronic version of its magazine
has been abysmal - QL Today has given better coverage - and let's not repeat
poor publicity with the website.

MESSAGE FOR ROY: Could we please have more details over the Saturday night
dinner? Starting time, for example. Thanks in anticipation,

Best Wishes,

Geoff

[ql-users] Networked Games

2007-03-15 Thread Rich Mellor
Someone on WorldofSpectrum.org is on about developing a protocol for
networked games using the ZX Network and at least one other person is
currently developing a game along those lines.

I thought it might be interesting to be able to connect a QL to this game
and wondered if anyone has knowledge / access to a ZX Spectrum and QL and
would be interested in assisting.

The one thing I have done, is to dig out Simon Goodwin's Flexynet code
which offered a higher speed network solution for the QL and we could
possibly base it on this. Does anyone have Simon's current email address
as he did work for the Spectrum as well in the heydays!
