Re: [Ql-Users] Window redraw in PE
It does seem, in this day and age, as if Minerva should be considered a base system, and the use of QDOS should be deprecated. Hear hear, that's what I've tried to sell for years now ;-) I cannot think of any single reason to not use Minerva, except perhaps the fear of killing the keyboard membrane when opening the QL. Surely Minerva (together with Hermes and new keyboard membrane), is a MUST HAVE upgrade for EVERY plain QL (maybe switcheable to MG ROM for better compatibility with old games not running on Minerva). Moreover, Minerva, Hermes and keyboard membrane are reproduceable and easily obtaineable. Not the Gold/SuperGold Card, which is needed for SMSQ/E. In the beginning, I was happy to see Pointer Environment running on a plain 68008 QL with Minerva. ___ QL-Users Mailing List http://www.q-v-d.demon.co.uk/smsqe.htm
Re: [Ql-Users] QL Today
Small packet is anything up to 2kg. No steps. Costs 8,20 EUR ... not an optional at all. Weird. We have steps for international shipments in the Czech Republic: Plain shipment (EU, outside EU / priority, economy) upto 20, 50, 10, 250, 500 g, 1 kg, 2 kg. Recommended shipment (EU, outside EU / priority, economy) upto 20, 50, 10, 250, 500 g, 1 kg, 2 kg. Registered letter (EU, outside EU / priority, economy) upto 20, 50, 10, 250, 500 g, 1 kg, 2 kg. Weight of usual QL Today issue is unknown to me, so I cannot calculate the price. E.g. European country, priority recommended shipment, 100 g, is about 2.8 EUR. Non-european country, economy recommended shipment, 50 g, is about 2.4 EUR. European country, priority registered letter, 100 g, is about 3,8 EUR. See tables at http://www.ceskaposta.cz/assets/nastroje/kompletni_cenik.pdf page 43 - plain shipment (first table), page 44 - recommended shipment (first table), registered letter (last table) 24 Kč being 1 EUR, no V.A.T. There is also press bag, but this applies to whole bag of magazines, not for single sheets. But I understand, that the postage is not the main problem. ___ QL-Users Mailing List http://www.q-v-d.demon.co.uk/smsqe.htm
Re: [Ql-Users] Fw: Message via contact form-68k/os
Has anyone else tried 68k/os and got this result? Any idea what to do about it? Try the 68K/OS ROM with another emulator. The trial version of Qemulator has expired. ___ QL-Users Mailing List http://www.q-v-d.demon.co.uk/smsqe.htm

Anyway, It is fun to see my QL in a lab running this test, and I thought you might like it. Great. Any photos? J.D. ___ QL-Users Mailing List http://www.q-v-d.demon.co.uk/smsqe.htm

Re: [Ql-Users] uQLx
in QDisk.c for the lines (around line 295) containing 'WA', 'A5' 'B5' as part of a switch statement. If your processor is a big endian one, the code should work; however, if it is little endian (like the x86 processors), then the tests will definitely fail - changing them to 'AW', '5A' and '5B' should fix the working, but not the warnings. ARM is, is far as I know, bi-endian. Very complicated. J.D. ___ QL-Users Mailing List http://www.q-v-d.demon.co.uk/smsqe.htm
Re: [Ql-Users] [Raspberry Pi] August update - boards back andrunning content
I work for Genesi , and I would like to help you with this. The ARM core is little endian , so if it doesn't contain tons of assembler it should build. I will try it myself later this week. OK, perfect. Once it will be able to compile for ARM on Genesi, it will be possible to run it on Raspberry too. J.D. ___ QL-Users Mailing List http://www.q-v-d.demon.co.uk/smsqe.htm
Re: [Ql-Users] a VERY expensive QL substitute?
It is useful to convert images to 640 x 480 pixels, for web page display - as JPEG files - which reduces the file size to a manageable number of Kb's. No JPEGs please! No lossy compression! For computer screenshots the best option is PNG (lossless compression). J.D. ___ QL-Users Mailing List http://www.q-v-d.demon.co.uk/smsqe.htm
Re: [Ql-Users] Samsung QL serial ports
Ah, so a traditional Atari switched joystick should plug into the Ctl ports of a Samsung QL with no adapter lead, that's good to know. Yes, this works directly, I have tested this using Competition Pro joystick. J. ___ QL-Users Mailing List http://www.q-v-d.demon.co.uk/smsqe.htm
