Hi Tarquin,

>From my own recent experience the first one is the hard one ! You just
need to establish yourself in that area of the country, and not be
disappointed if the attendance is not too high ... say 30 or more
people.

You came to our London Quanta Traders meeting, and we were impressed
that a younger user was showing such interest. We donated some items
and everyone helped out with advice and purchases. Evidently you have
maintained the interest and organised a local user group, and now a
proposed Traders Show.

The traders are a great bunch - well I have to say that :-) - and they
would really welcome a different area to bring their expertise to.

The best of luck with your endeavour. I think the more Shows that occur
the better we will all be.

Three (8-)#

It is a long time since I expected much at shows. There were not a vast
number at the Paris meeting, but it was one of the best shows last year.
It is quality not quantity.

When I ran the London one. I did nothing much before other than book the
hall, and advertise it (Quanta/QLT/ internet/direct mailing)

On the day I provided tea/coffee making and an honesty box.
Others provide biscuits/cakes/rolls/sandwiches etc whichis nice but not
essential. I always broke even on costs, even though a lot of people
did not use the honesty box (8-)#

A separate room for talks is best - does not need ot be large.
In London we used the stage.

We paid £100 I think - Quanta will probably pay for the hall.

Don't forget to pop in to the Radio Rally in the Lordsbridge Arena,
Wimploe Road, Barton. Bill Richardson and Q Branch will be there with
stands and you can discuss a possible show in Norwich. Bill has a lot of
old Microvitec Cub monitors and some tower cased QLs for sale.

Good luck with the planning.

A new venue gives a different group of users easier access to a show.

I need to plan a London one again for this year. Although I don't know
when or where as yet :-)

QL shows are always a good idea and Q Branch will come to any we can get
to. Bill Richardson and I will have a stall at the Cambridge Radio Rally
on the 11th Feb so you could come along to that and discuss things.

I don't think QUANTA do mailing list hosting (check www.quanta.uni.cc) but
you can easily start up your own at egroups or some similar web based forum.

Keep us all posted on a suggested date for the QL Workshop.
