Graphically all the other examples are far superior to the one that you
prefer - which is the one with QL and a small bird image to the left of
the Q.

In todays graphically rich computer world I woud think that eye catching
imagery is essential.

My favourite in pure visual dynamic is the Nico 'Acrux' Macrionitis 3D
image showing the letters QL mapped onto a sphere ( world ? ), inside an
open 3D perspective box, and then floating above a landscape and sky (
the printing is not too clear in the magazine ).

The three that feature the wording 'Quantum Leap' are all well done in
terms of 'text' as an 'image'. The one by Melissa Ward in 3D looks nice
even in B&W.

However, I believe that 'Quantum Leap' has had its day a main slogan.
Better to just use the initials 'QL' in the same way that 'PC' is used
now.

Overall I think it has to appeal to future more than the past, so an
exciting 'image' can encapsulate something that will appeal to a wider
audience.

Re: [ql-users] QL Logo

2002-10-14 Thread Dilwyn Jones

I haven't had that many replies (a total of about 20 between the ones
on and off this list) and the golden 3D one is slightly ahead so far,
followed by the one with the little bird looking at the QL letters and
the one with the three coloured squares to the left is third. As I
could probably have predicted, my own entry has so far got the grand
total of 0 votes :-(

Hi, that would be me, and the qeyboard.

It's done. I just need to wait until everyone's REALLY desperate for one,
before I can afford to make them. They're zero-profit high-build-cost, so
I need to be sure of selling them all before I make them.

Yes - as I said, we bought thousands from them using the original

Sinclair must have dual sourced.

Maybe they are prepared to do short runs?
I bow out of the negotiations (have no time) but maybe someone could
take this up.

[ql-users] QL Keyboard Membranes

2002-10-14 Thread RWAPSoftware
This has sparked a lot of interest on the mailing list, so I think the best way forward at the moment is to collate a list of people who are interested in getting hold of replacement membranes.

I have added a page to my web-site where you can register your interest, so that all QL traders can judge the interest and whether it would be feasible to do a new run of membranes.

Visit:
http://hometown.aol.co.uk/rwapsoftware/membranes.html

to register your interest

Kind Regards

superHermes of course.
That is the full sH price - the sH LITE is about half that.
I make them fresh to order so they can be had any time (8-)#

There are other interfaces no longer though - Falkenburg for a start.
It works OK but the build quality was awful.
He had the pcbs made by a friend in Uni (he said).
One board I had to 'repair' had the traces each side of the double sided
board so much out of alignment that the pins of components had to be
bent sideways to get to the tracks on one side of the board.
 but it worked OK.
There must be someone in the US with s/h interfaces.
I also think someone (an ex QL dealer) has a few. It wasn't Frank Davis.
Anyone remember who? Don Walterman?
