QMAILANALOG
Hi, I am trying to use qmailanalog for my analysisI use supervise on qmail and log my files thru multilog...in a separate directory. On running the following command: tai64nfrac /mail/log/deliver/current | \ /usr/local/qmailanalog/bin/matchup | /var/qmailanalog/bin/z* /mail/log/deliver/log-z*But when I pipe it through any of the z* commands, I get nothing exceptthe column headers from the z* command itself. What am I doing wrong? I tried the same with tai64n2tai and tai64nlocal but I get nothing but the column headers from the z* command itself. Can some pls throw some light on this. Raghu

QMAIL- QUEUE FILE SYSTEM FULL
Hi, I have setup qmail with 3.5 lac users and my filesystem which contains qmail, vpopmail and hence the queue has become full. How can i move the qmail-queue to a different file system (I already have another file system with plenty of disk space. I currently have 15000 mails in queue. I want to clear my queue right away without having to wait for the queue to clear by themselves. Is there a way to start clearing this queue. Raghu
MAKING PORT RESPONSE FASTER
Hi, I have setup qmail-1.03 on a Sun E3500 on Solari 2.7. I am using tcpserver and my authentication is through mysql. When I do a telnet to port 110 and 25 it seems to take eternity to open the mail. How do I make my port opening a lot faster. My port 143 opens very fast. I have 3.5 lac mailboxes on this server. Any light on this pls Raghu

Load Testing on QMAIL
Hi, I have setup a qmail box running qmail-1.03,vpopmail-4.9.6,courier-imap-0.36a. The authentication method is mysql. I have more than 2 million users. Before I move from my existing setup - I would like to be absolutely sure qmail can take this load. Are there many of you running qmail for more than 2 million users. How can I do the load testing (some load testing tools to the effect ! ) to confirm that my box will perform under maximum load ? Also what would be the ideal IMAP connects that I would need to setup as threshold - in my current setup we have about 500-600 simultaneous imap connects ! Can courier-imap take this load ? Raghu

BUILDING THE VPASSWD.CDB FILE
Hi, I am all set to migrate 35 users to Qmail. I have created the users with dummy passwords and while injecting their original password noticed that it takes 3 hours to build the vpasswd.cdb file. After I have built the .cdb file , if I change the password for even a single user the .cdb file gets built again and worse it takes 3 hours to complete the process. The result a password change comes into effect only after 3 hours. Can someone substantiate if this is true (hopefully it shouldn't be !!). Secondly if I kill the process then the whole vpasswd file gets corrupt and I seem to have lost all the passwords for the 35 odd users. How do I solve this problem ?? My config as follows - Qmail-1.03 , vpopmail-4.9.6 and courier-imap.0.36a. My vpopmail config options were ./configure --enable-relay-clear-minutes=60 --enable-logging=y --enable-default-domain=qmailnv.maa.sify.net --enable-large-site=y --enable-roaming-users=y --enable-deliver-filter=y --enable-ip-alias-domains=y --enable-hardquota= 50 --enable-tcpserver-file= ~vpopmail/etc/tcp.smtp while for courier-imap the options were ./configure --without-authldap --without-authmysql --without-authcram - with-authvchkpw. Would it help if I use a mysql authentication mechanism. If yes how do I proceed ? Expecting someone to crack this asap Raghu
Re: Regarding Imap server and catchall
Hi Kamesh, Try this - INSTALLATION Please dont login as root --- it wont work * You MUST run the configure script as normal user, not root. Did you extract the tarball as root? It won't work. Remove the extracted source code. Log in as a normal user. Extract the source code as anormal user, then run configure. You will need to do everything as a normal user *** If you are not using ldap currently do as given below - $ ./configure ./configure --without-authldap --without-authmysql --without-authcram - with-authvchkpw $ make $ make check $ su root * You should try make install-strip first. Use make install if make install-strip fails.*** # make install # Or, make install-strip, to strip the executables After installation, you will need to review /usr/lib/courier-imap/etc/imapd.config and make any changes you deem necessary, including: By using the above ./configure cmd - you are enabling this to use authentication by vchkpw *Use the following command to start the Courier-IMAP server: * $ /usr/lib/courier-imap/libexec/imapd.rc start This should get you going. To check, logon to port 143 and type a1 login [EMAIL PROTECTED] password. Installing open-smtp4 on qmail-1.03
Hi, I am trying to install open-smtp4 to enable pop before smtp. Its posing a few problems by not writing the remote ip into the file /etc/smtp.filter.newer. It only writes ":allow,RELAYCLIENT=//" into the file. I have changed tcpmakectl to tcp rules in pop3-record . Can someone give me the exact procedure. I also checked checkpassword.c where the oneliner has been added asking it to execute pop3-record. I have done as follows - Unpack open-smtp4.tar.gzUnpack checkpassword-0.81.tar.gzcd into checkpassword-0.81 Change tcpmakectl to tcprules and chmod for both pop3-record and age-smtp Issue the following command: patch ../open-smtp/checkpassword.patchMake checkpassword as per usual. Authenticate for default domain
Hi, How do I authenticate for my default domain with just the username ? ie If I use OE 5.0, I should give only username and not [EMAIL PROTECTED]. I have about 25 domains , but need to authenticate only for my primary domain this way !! This is a little urgent !! Raghu
Re: Authenticate for default domain
Hi, Sorry about that !! My setup - I have test.com as my hostname with MX pointing to my IP address. I also have added testmail1.com, testmail2.com testmail25.com as my virtual domains with their MX pointing to the same IP. Now I need my users in testmail1.com to give only username and not [EMAIL PROTECTED] to authenticate to retrieve their mails. So how do I setup testmail1.com as the default domain ? The fact that you're using multiple domains suggests you might be using, say, vpopmail or VMailMgr, but that's speculation. Possible answer to your question: Run your default domain separately (outside of virtualdomains etc; separate POP3 service). There is a mailing list for vpopmail which may be more appropriate. Andrew.

TWO INSTANCES OF QMAIL
Hi, How do I run two instances of qmail on the same machine - the first one listening on port 25 (default smtp port) and the second on some other port, for eg. say 1099. The two instances need to have two different control files - and should not interfere with each others existance. Raghu
Re: TWO INSTANCES OF QMAIL
Hi, I have done this already - but with this I only open port 25 and port 1099...I need to use my first instance of Qmail as the policy server and the second as the MDA. The set up is such - First Qmail will server as a Policy server listening on PORT 25 as my MTA and accept mails from the outside world. In between I have Interscan Virus wall scanning all mails for Viruses and forward all mails to the second instance of Qmail. Now for this qmail how do I do the installation ? Is it sufficient to change the directory of installation...aka ../var/qmail/control or is there something else I need to do so that all mails fwded from Interscan Virus wall to port 1099 of the second qmail instance know what is to be done to the mail.
