How about running ~vpopmail/bin/vpasswd?

  ~vpopmail/bin/vpasswd [EMAIL PROTECTED] newpass

You do not want to edit ~vpopmail/domains/default.com/vpasswd file directly.

Do the following: (I don't know if its the best choice, but worked for me)

Create/edit the file ~vpopmail/etc/inc_deps and put this:
-I- -I/usr/vpopmail/include

The same with ~vpopmail/etc/lib_deps:
-L/usr/vpopmail/lib -lvpopmail -L/usr/local/mysql/lib/mysql -lmysqlclient

Issue these commands:

./configure --enable-cgibindir=YOUR_HTTPD_CGI_BIN_FULL_PATH --enable-vpopuse
r=YOUR_VPOPMAILUSER --enable-autoresponder-bin=FULL_PATH_TO_AUTORESPONDER --
enable-vpopmaildir=THE_ABSOLUTE_PATH_TO_VPOPMAILUSER_HOME_DIR

make clean
make
su
make install-strip

2001-02-05 Thread Hubbard, David

I'm not sure where you got that idea, sqwebmail is
developed with the Courier mail server and it
happens to support the vpopmail vchkpw authentication
program for those of us using vpopmail, then it just
reads Maildir's. Did you mean qmailadmin maybe?
That is only used for vpopmail.

You can't use SQwebmail without vpopmail, since
SQWebmail is made for vpopmail :)

hi,

must qmailadmin, vpopmail and sqwebmail work together?

does qmail works with just qmailadmin, autoresponder,
ezmlm, and sqwebmail installed? and without vpopmail
installed?

how can i make my users login in sqwebmail just by
typing in the username instead of

0.42 works like a charm. Besides, qmailadmin has its own mailing list.

check the site for updates regulary

> but I can't log in, I need 'postmaster' but I don't know who is he.

He is the default which you get when you do a ./home/vpopmail/bin/vadddomain
somedomain.com

so .. the password you gave it there is the postmaster's password. Does
this look familiar? It is in the INSTALL document for the latest (at the
time I wrote this) version.

6. Add a virtual domain

For this example, we will add a domain "test.com"

# cd /home-dir-of-vpopmail/bin

# ./vadddomain test.com
or
# ./vadddomain test.com password-for-postmaster <-- YO CHECK ME OUT

vadddomain will modify the following qmail files
(default locations used)
/var/qmail/control/locals
/var/qmail/control/rcpthosts
/var/qmail/control/morercpthosts (if rcpthosts > than 50 lines)
/var/qmail/control/virtualdomains
/var/qmail/users/assign
/var/qmail/users/cdb

It will also create a domains directory
~vpopmail/domains/test.com
~vpopmail/domains/test.com/postmaster/Maildir ...
~vpopmail/domains/test.com/vpasswd
~vpopmail/domains/test.com/vpasswd.cdb

If you do not specify a password on the command line, it
will prompt for a password for the postmaster.

Then it will send a kill -HUP signal to qmail-send telling it
to re-read the control files.

Note: setting up DNS MX records for the virtual domain is not
covered in this INSTALL file.

> however I use omail and it run very wel.

I use qmailadmin and I think the name fits, and it runs very well now that
all of those annoying images are gone : ) I do wish the mailing list
manager would get fixed sometime soon however. I am going to have to take a
programming class one of these days.

Which part of the following sentence do you not understand?

|QmailAdmin is a free software package that provides a web interface for
|managing a qmail system with virtual domains. A version is available now
|for use with the vpopmail program.

> however I use omail and it run very wel.

I use mutt and it works very wel, too. However, neither are qmail
related in a way qmailadmin is. qmailadmin *does* have its own extensive
documentation and mailing list, though:

Qmailadmin is a tool for managing a "vpopmail" setup. If you don't have
vpopmail, it won't really do anything for you. Qmailadmin really should
be called "Vpopmailadmin" or something. If you do have vpopmail, the
"postmaster" account/password it's asking for is the account that you set
up to be the "owner" of the virtual domain you are trying to manage.

A while ago I ran into a very similar problem that was related to using
qmailadmin from a box running a particular version of Internet Exploder.
It would generate Internal Server Errors when trying to add POP users.
If you are using IE, try Netscape as a test.

They are not shadowed. Had they been, there would have been no
passwords, crypted or not, and thus no problem.

They have just been passed through crypt. That is reasonable
protection only if the passwords are good.

They aren't, at least the first isn't (positively ridiculous
password in fact).

Good or not, change them. Someone will have more than 2 seconds
of computer time to devote to it.
