[qmailtoaster] RPMForge

2011-02-19 Thread Scott Hughes
I am having a strange issue with using rpmforge. I have the rpmforge
repos in /etc/yum.repos.d and have downloaded some packages from
rpmforge, however now I cannot find packages that should be there.

The two packages that I need are FAIL2BAN and UNISON. Any ideas on
why yum is reporting that these packages do not exist?

Thanks,
Scott

qtp-install-rpmforge disables the repo by default. This is so that rf
packages don't inadvertently replace CentOS base packages. Either use
the --enablerepo=rpmforge flag, or edit the

/etc/yum.repos.d/rpmforge.repo file to enable the repo.

Steve, I noticed that rpmforge has reorganized packages a bit (I was
looking for rsync 3.x, and it appears to have moved). Do I understand
correctly that packages which are part of the base CentOS are now in the
rpmforge-extras repo? If so, the rpmforge repo can be safely enabled by
default, and I should change the qtp-install-rpmforge script
accordingly. Thanks for your expertise. :)

Thanks much Eric! Adding that flag solved the problem and I was able to
download both packages without issue.

When you created the new database, did you run anything like:
echo GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON vpopmail.* TO vpopmail@localhost
IDENTIFIED BY 'SsEeCcRrEeTt' | mysql -u root -p

Jake,

I tried the above solution to no avail. I then blew the new server away and
loaded a new server (VM), then went through the exact same steps again, only
this time I did not DROP / CREATE the new database (since my new one was
empty). Still not seeing any domains or users in QControl. Any other
ideas?

Thanks,
Scott

I think I may have figured this one out. I have not replicated (copied)
over the files in /home/vpopmail/domains or any of the other files that
Unison is used for. This may be why the domains and users are not
showing up yet on the new server.

I will run the unison commands to copy the files from the old server to
the new server and then see what shows up. My guess is that without the
actually domain and user files, the database isn't going to show
anything. Unison is running now on the /home/vpopmail/domains structure
now. We'll see...

We received a notice of unauthorized use of an image in the mail today.
The image in question is the picture of the mailbox on the qmailadmin
login screen named middleleft1.png. I didn't find anyone bringing this
up on the mailing list archives. Has anyone else received this notice?
The notice we received was from gettyimages
(http://www.gettyimages.com). They are asking for a $600 settlement.
Any comments or advice?

Eric,

I just ran qtp-newmodel and it did not show any updated packages. I
currently show: qmailadmin-toaster-1.2.15-1.3.9 as installed.

Did I jump the gun on running qtp-newmodel?

You're ok. qmailadmin-toaster-1.2.15-1.3.9 is the latest, and has been
available for a while. I'm not sure how long, but could be up to a month.

BTW, you can run qtp-ami-up2date simply to see if you're current or not.
You can also add a cron job to run it daily, and have it send you an
email when there's an update available. Kinda nice.

Yes, you'll need to do the setup like in the videos for everything to
work correctly. Ping me off-list if you have any other issues.

Which fashion? I don't think you want to disable chkuser entirely, but
you will need to modify it to allow the ' character.

You'll probably need to upgrade to the latest chkuser to do this, as
it allows for more of these oddball characters to be defined. I know
Jake's been working on getting the latest chkuser packaged with QMT,
