Tony, Thanks for the reminder, it fixed an issue with my personal server. It dawned on me when you posted it that it was what was wrong with my account. Changed the value and boom it works. Thanks! RE: [qmailtoaster] Help with bad reputation
You know, it just a marketing campaign really. People see this, they do there senderscore, most IT people don't understand the politics in the ISP range, so they are forced to tell their boss that they need to pay for this, and then next thing you know it, your emails are going through but then you take a huge salary cut. It just an endless cycle. Trust me on this one, do the feedback loop, wait 30 days, you'll see a big difference. -Original Message- From: Cecil Yother, Jr. [mailto:c...@yother.com] Sent: Wednesday, March 21, 2012 12:09 PM To: qmailtoaster-list@qmailtoaster.com Subject: Re: [qmailtoaster] Help with bad reputation Or fill your customer in on the extortion tactics that Nike and Verizon use to "score" their customers emails. RE: [qmailtoaster] Help with bad reputation
If you search, I made comment about this a year ago. Senderscore was developed as a money gimic more than a way of controlling spam. Here what you need to do to build up your reputation score. Signup at every major ISP that has a feedback loop you will need to sign up one by one. Your score can take as little as 30 days to improve if you comply with the feedback loop requirements. http://website.email-ethics.com/feedback-loops <- here the list I use. If this is urgent, your better pony up some cash to get email certified and pay your ways out of this problem, it can range from 3000k per month to 1.1 million depending on your volume. If you're a non profit you might get away with 4k per year. I would say take your time and don't fall into the trap, just signup for the feedback loop for each program, and 30 days from now you'll see it get way better :). -Original Message- From: Ronnie Tartar [mailto:rtar...@host2max.com] Sent: Wednesday, March 21, 2012 10:55 AM To: qmailtoaster-list@qmailtoaster.com Subject: RE: [qmailtoaster] Help with bad reputation Messages sitting in the queue and eventually, people get this bounce message. : Connected to 68.232.135.83 but greeting failed. [qmailtoaster] Re: CentOS 6 install update?
Ok, I think I understand. I'd like to remind everyone that this is a community project, and nothing happens without community members stepping up to do the work. Natalio's work on this is a good example. Our thanks go to him for his work on this. Everyone should also understand that we're presently in the process of setting up an entirely new project infrastructure, so updates and modifications aren't being done as rapidly as we expect they will be done once that's complete. On 03/21/2012 09:48 AM, Natalio Gatti wrote: Check my installation notes: http://www.mail-archive.com/qmailtoaster-list@qmailtoaster.com/msg31759.html Please be sure to read the entire thread. Dan makes some important points to consider, as usual. IIRC, there are also a few posts regarding how to remedy the problems QMT has with PHP5.3. I haven't tried this personally, so I cannot say with any certainty. I've been using QT and QTP since July/2011 without any problems. These notes were taking over a Centos 6.0. I don't know if the current Centos 6.2 involve more patches. I wouldn't expect there to be any additional problems with 6.2. If someone else is running QMT on 6.x, please let us know about your experience. COS6 provides more up to date packeges, such as PHP. It was a brand-new server, and I thought that installing COS5 was going a step backward. This is my personal opinion, I prefer to fight installing QT over a non-officially supported (yet) COS6, than fight installing numerous packages (php, mysql, perl) non-officially supported by COS5. I would prefer that as well, given that you have an additional need for the PHP upgrade. Something I really loved is that COS6 minimal installation is really minimal! (Just be carefull, becouse It does not include scp, telnet or ftp clients, nor the traceroute command). +1. I used to run a few scripts that would remove the nearly 200 packages that weren't needed. No longer needed. Speaking of which (FWIW), I'd like to have the binary yum repo available at the same time as we deliver COS6 support (docs and scripts and such). That way admins can do a truly minimal QMT on COS6, with no compiler and build packages required, which will be a boost in security as well. While this will ultimately delay the official QMT COS6 release, it will reduce the development effort involved, and I think we'll ultimately arrive further down the road sooner this way. For now I am using the same server for all qmt services and it works wonderfully. Tapping failure messages would be quite useful for client support. What about changing the source code? Regards I've slept on this, and I think changing the source code isn't a good idea. qmail-send would need to be modified, and that's no trivial task. Let's try a slightly different tact. If we're wanting to monitor bounces, why not monitor the send logs? qmail-send puts out a fairly descriptive (depending on what the receiving server returns) failure message. How about writing a script that would find the failures and report them? Could be run daily, and email the results to some address. This touches on the whole area of monitoring in general. There's undoubtedly some enhancements that could be made in this area that would allow admins to take a more proactive role keeping things running smoothly. I'd encourage anyone interested anyone interested in this aspect to hop on over to the devel list and get something going. -- -Eric 'shubes' - Qmailtoaster is sponsored by Vickers Consulting Group (www.vickersconsulting.com) Vickers Consulting Group offers Qmailtoaster support and installations. Upgrading major releases tends to be painful, so if I can start on CentOS 6 I will. I'm building a new QTP this week and was hoping to use CentOS 6. It's not that it's urgent, I'd just like to be able to run it there.

The interest in CentOS 6 is presumably not that it provides new features that QMT can leverage, but that it provides updated (not to say up-to-date) versions of some other core software. For people who are running a dedicated mailserver machine, it's easy enough to accept that CentOS 5 is the right version to use to support QMT. However, some people will be running boxes that serve multiple functions - app/web servers, DNS, mail, DB, etc etc - and they may be looking to CentOS 6 as a solution to some of their other requirements, and wishing that QMT could be easily installed on it.
