[qmailtoaster] Error Messages in log

2008-01-21 Thread Jacob Billingsley
Hey All,

Wondering if anyone can shed some light on this if you've seen similar
messages.

I keep getting messages in my /var/log/qmail/send/current log like this:

Connected_to_216.40.42.4_but_my_name_was_rejected./Remote_host_said:_501_Syn
tax:_HELO_hostname/
Connected_to_213.83.66.209_but_my_name_was_rejected./Remote_host_said:_501_5
.0.0_HELO_requires_domain_address/
Connected_to_216.133.98.66_but_my_name_was_rejected./Remote_host_said:_504_C
ommand_parameter_not_implemented/

Now the strange thing is, most of the mail seems to be going out. It's just
that some of it gets stuck in the queue and it triggers these messages when
trying to send.

Look at your control files:
http://wiki.qmailtoaster.com/index.php/Helohost
That one has caused me problems in the past. I think according to RFC it
can be either a FQDN or an IP address.

Thanks Jake,

I don't have that config file. So according to that link I should use the
fqdn or ip address for /var/qmail/control/me

Does anything else that you can think of use this file? I changed this on
one of my other clients server and mail stopped working; don't know why,
didn't get a chance to investigate. I don't want the same thing to happen
here.

If the file is not there, it uses the value in the 'me' file.
If you experience an issue with the file, remove it and restart qmail to
clear it out and it will use the 'me' file again.
