RE: [QUAD-L] how wish to participate
Welcome to the list. There are many wise people here. I have learned a lot from these folks. I write on behalf of my son, Gabe. Gabe is 32 and 10 years post injury. His injury occurred after he had a laminectomy (sp?). He had several spinal cord stokes following two seizures after surgery. He has a C4-5-6 injury. It’s very diffuse. He has no use of his hands. A small amount of use of his left arm. Gabe used sign language and an adaptive communication device prior to his injury. So the injury took away a lot of his ability to communicate. Gabe has several other disabilities so he has been working with his rehab since birth. He is teacher of patience and has a very old soul. He is admired by many for his positive attitude. Do I sound proud? I am. He participates in an active life. He does not participate on this list. So I do for him. My husband tells an old Buddhist tale that describes my son. A man is walking in the jungle and soon a tiger starts to chase him. He runs. His only escape is toward a cliff. He jumps to be safe from the jaws of the tiger. Upon jumping he finds a vine to hold onto right below the edge of the cliff. While hanging there he spots wild strawberries growing below the cliff. He picks the berries one at a time and enjoys each berry and each bite despite the fact that he knows he will either fall to his death or be eaten by a tiger. Gabe enjoys all the berries he can find. Re: [QUAD-L] Hello
i never meant to imply that anyone was lazy because they are poor or poor because they are lazy. the numbers here don't speak to either case. i am saying they weren't too smart to remain living under the sea in hurricane alley. i understand roots and ties to neighborhoods and all, still they chose to remain under the sea in h.a. now that the place has been wiped out,I'm saying they won't be very smart to move back to the old neighborhood after it is pumped out again. i think it would be a big mistake to set the trap of destructionn again but i feel confident the ruling powers will do just that. they like roots too. it looks like there are a lot safer places to live at the mercy of the government without putting ones life in direct danger like waiting for the next hurricane. why do you suppose they stay there, Dave? there must be some reasonable explanation. are you going t! o try and tell me they can't move? RE: [QUAD-L] Drinking in bed
Hi Karen, I use 'oxygen tubing' that would be thrown away at the nursing home where my Aunt works. She send me different lengths but I cut them to the right length. I use a gallon jug and a rubber band to hold it in the 'pour spout' and loop it up and over my light-pole by my bed so it drains backwards. I just put the tube between my fingers before I go to sleep and I'm able to get it to my mouth at night to drink. Cheap but it works.
