[QUAD-L] Driving
I just got a driving permit. I took the written test, now late Sep. I go and get fitted and see if I can drive myself. On the way home, I saw a pickup truck fitted for a quad driver. The lift came out the drivers door, lifted him, then pulled the lift into the drivers seat area. Very cool, but it was a huge truck. Hard enough driving a van in a parking lot, I truck would be a hassle. Greg

Greg, I haven’t had the pleasure of meeting or corresponding with you but am very interested in learning more about you. Forgive me if we have met and I haven’t realized it! I live in Hendersonville, TN and my son is currently in Murfreesboro most of the time. He was paralyzed four years ago and just this past weekend graduated from MTSU. We are now at another crossroad of life. He anticipates going on for his Master’s in a year. In the meantime he desires to work at whatever level he dare but can’t take on too much in order to maintain insurance coverage. We don’t dare let that protection go before he has completed all levels of schooling. He continues being insured through my husband’s work due to being totally disabled and dependent upon us for basic needs. Once he is able to support himself the insurance is gone permanently. They would love to see that day! I fought hard to keep him insured and succeeded. Reading the fine print pays. Ok enough of that discussion. Dylan will be playing Rugby with the Nashville team starting September. We live too close not to become acquainted! Hope to hear from you! Karen From: David K. Re: [QUAD-L] New wheelchair wheelie wheels question
If your backrest has a slight recline to it and most of your battery weight is also in the rear, going forward up an incline will most definitely take your front wheels off the ground and throw you backwards! Hi Tim, You're a good man, my friend! Your attitude about life shows you were a good man before your accident, you have just learned how important the little things in our lives mean to us now that we're Quads! May your next 18 years hold the best for you, and your head is always held high. Hi Jason, That is so great to hear! Life is so much better when you're controlling it with a hearty spirit. That was a wonderful way to show how you felt about your new love. Way to go With Love, CtrlAltDel aka DaveC4/5 Complete - 30 Years PostTexas, USA Jason Thurston <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: I have been waiting to send a message to the group. Last year on August 2 I was reading the 12 pages of advice, most of which I received from the quad list. I don't post very often, but most days I read all of the messages. I learned a lot in the past year, especially not to lose hope. Instead of being sad or withdrawn this year on the second anniversary of my accident, I spent it with my new love. It was her birthday and I told her I had to go to work, even though I usually work from home on Wednesdays. I had her convinced that I wasn't going to do much for her birthday. Instead of going to work I went to a few stores, purchased several presents, balloons, cards, flowers, two cakes, and a bunch of her favorite foods. I decided to make the most of the day and be happy to be alive. Just thought I'd share, since somehow I feel like I know most of you guys. Thank you for being there in your own way. What a great support network. Bye for now JT C6 quad, two years post-, August 2, 2004

Re: [QUAD-L] Fast Chairs?
I replied to Greg's original chair email, but I'm new to the Quad list and don't know how to reply correctly to emails where my reply will be displayed correctly. I think I messed up your email. I'm [EMAIL PROTECTED] , but that's not my reply. Can anyone tell me how to reply correctly to Quad list emails? Sorry for the confusion! Rhonda
Re: [QUAD-L] Fast Chairs?
I just turned in a chair that I was not satisfied with, just happened to be a peach tree equipped TDX5. For me I was having difficulties with seating, but I really feel it was more of a vendor problem. The wheelchair was not getting into my van satisfactorily and I am currently not in the position to purchase a new one. I am hoping to be able to get a new Quickie in place of the TDX, but I just don't know what they're going to do next. My odyssey has taken over 2 1/2 years and I sincerely hope yours does not even come close to being is difficult as mine has been. Definitely testdrive the chair you are thinking about.Billy[EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:In a message dated 8/16/2006 6:08:31 PM Central Daylight Time, [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: But what is a great, FAST, front-wheel or mid-wheel drive chair? Re: [QUAD-L] Diagnosis
I was injured in 74 and wearing a Foley catheter, in 85 , I was diagnosed with bladder cancer. And I went through chemotherapy for three months (I don't remember exactly how long) it did not work, so they decided to remove my bladder. There were a few other options, that he did not think they would be best for me for me. Two years ago , my mother was diagnosed with bladder cancer, in a removed her bladder also. I know they can make some kind of artificial bladder inside, but I don't know anything about it. I thought wearing a bag would be really horrible, but it turned out to be , not that much different than wearing a bed bag and catheter. Easier to change. I cannot empty myself, so I attach mind to a bed bag that hangs on my chair. I have a black bag made out of windbreaker materials with Velcro, across the top , and in a V-shaped on the bottom with Velcro also. That works at easier, so I can drink as much as I want to. I was told to drink about 2 quarts a day with it. I don't think the frequency of UTI's is any different than catheter. I have never had any problems with my ostomy slip my mothers does and it is painful daily. She is AB and can feel. That would be a good question for the group. How many UTI to all of us have a year. Dana ( C4-5, 32 years post, 52, Prairie Village, Kansas suburb, of Kansas City) When I went to Craig the first time in 88 , I was told that they had only one other person with a ileal conduit or urostomy.
