Re: [QUAD-L] treating rectal raw spot

2018-01-25 Thread Derrick Winegardner
Did you only do bowel care in morning and had no accidents? I do every other
morning.
Did you sit on toilet or Hoyer lift every morning?
I was thinking of sitting on commode chair all day , the prep day since I am to
drink Gatorade mirlax and ducolox all day. That has to go through your
digestive system

not check into the hospital until 90 minutes before the procedure.  Easy peasy
and no problems.  Good luck.  By the way, we do bowel care every day first

Re: [QUAD-L] Electronic Visit Verification: GPS Tracking People With Disabilities | The Mighty

2018-01-25 Thread Jim Lubin
So, it seems like a good idea to prevent fraud and abuse, but depending on
how each state implements the requirements the privacy concerns might be
valid. If you gps the caregiver to be within 1000 feet of the person
receiving the care then you would need to know the gps location of that
person too.

-

In December 2016, Congress passed and President Obama signed, the “21st
Century Cures Act”, a sweeping legislative package that includes new
funding and resources to address a wide variety of medical topics,
including the opioid epidemic, the FDA drug approval process, medical
research, and behavioral health issues. Importantly for providers, it also
includes new requirements for electronic visit verification (EVV) and a
penalty for non-compliance starting in 2019. EVV is a system that requires
providers to confirm that services were actually delivered and to do so
through a possible variety of electronic methods for each service like a
phone call, electronic signature, and so forth.

-

In an effort to curb fraud and abuse, the Cures Act (Section 12006)
includes a provision requiring electronic visit verification (“EVV”) for
personal care and home health services provided under state Medicaid
programs. The EVV legislation provides basic standards for state Medicaid
program compliance but leaves much of the actual implementation standards
to the states to develop. States that do not comply with this provision by
2019 (for personal care services visits) and by 2023 (for home health
visits) will face a penalty of a one percentage point reduction from the
Federal Medical Assistance Percentages, which are used in determining the
amount of federal matching funds for state medical and medical insurance
expenditures.

[QUAD-L] Fwd: Urge Congress to Extend Money Follows the Person!

Now that Congress has addressed funding for the Children's Health Insurance
Program (CHIP), they have the opportunity to use the same approach to
restore and fund the Money Follows the Person (MFP) demonstration program.
MFP was designed to help states transition people with disabilities from
institutions into the community and to assist states in rebalancing their
long-term services and supports systems to increase access to home and
community based services. Since it began, 47 states have participated and
over 75,000 disabled people have been liberated from institutions.

Unfortunately, MFP expired on September 30, 2016 and states have started to
shut down their MFP programs. Although there was a lot of public attention
on the need to reauthorize the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP),
very few people in Congress were aware of the need to reauthorize and fund
MFP. Congress must work to save and adequately fund MFP. It can do this by
including reauthorization of MFP in the negotiations on larger funding
issues and supporting the EMPOWER Care Act (S. 2227).
