[QUAD-L] Invacare TDX 5 wheelchair

2009-12-05 Thread Gary Rock
I have a question if anyone can give me information from the past. What would
have been the price for a TDX 5 Invacare wheelchair -- Sip Puff in 2003 when
they were made?
I know this sounds silly. But I am being sued by the provider of this
wheelchair to me when I received it in 2003. It seems as though my insurance
did not fully cover it and it was an out of network expense. Well first of all
I would have never accepted such an agreement. But we all know how insurance
companies and the health care industry max out prices. Now I am being sued for
$14,000.
If anyone has any data or pricing of what this chair should have cost. They
charged me $23,000. My contention is I'm sure it did not cost that much.I thank
anyone for their help, Gary

That won't cut it in Ohio. I think it depends on cost of living and just how
much the job entails. If a live in garegiver is going to get respite, they will
burn out like a young wife with no kids. Joking.. sorry. I have one IP that has
5 clients and makes around 1400.00 a week. (I do taxes as a hobby) Room and
expenses may sound like a great deal but if your target is a person with some
history, you may need to double or triple that. Have you thought about sharing
your home with nursing students? I don't know your situation to any detail so I
can't really help. $500 plus Room and use of rest of the house is = to a cheap
high school student. I have a friend on here that pays $5,000 a month for a
live-in that rolls him every two hours. The guy is seriously rich.

Best of luck,
john

Hello All,
My caregiver was gassing up the Van (Brauhn conversion)
while I was in it. She let the gas to fill automatically. I was in talking on
my cell phone. And she was talking to some guy about 20 feet away. I smelled a
lot of gas -- only to realize that after two years my new van gas tank was
leaking. I was surrounded by gasoline. We call the guy out of the service
station -- and he was mad because I made him hose down the gasoline before I
would let anyone start the van.

i cut the end off my night bag that plugs into my catheter - and then push that
end over the bottom part of my legbag.   that system keeps the anti-flowback
valve in place and provides me with 3 quarts of storage which i don't even use
on 'beer' nights.  i put the night bag on the floor and my leg bag in bed
beside me.  this makes for good flow down to the floor and nothing can get
caught on frames orwhatever.

Dan,
They Have Locks my nurse provides them. They simply
paste onto your inner leg. Kind of like a Band-Aid
but it locks the tube in place so that nothing pulls it out.
I can look up the brand name if you want.
The worst that I have had happen is that -- one time I caught My Bed Bag on the
side of my Van.
It pulled the tube out of my catheter tube.
But the lock -- made sure that the catheter did not pull out

John,
I must confess that I cry every time I watch Miracle on 34th St, but I'm not
normally depressed.  I have been dealing with a slight amount of depression
over the last couple of weeks, but yesterday it finally broke.

I don't know what changed my attitude, but it did change for the better.  I
think it's just because I began reading once again and am attempting to put my
frustrations to the side for a while.  There's nothing I can do about them
anyway, so why fret.

It seems like when I begin to feel depressed that I immediately get sexually
frustrated.  I am flabbergasted as to why this occurs, but it is nice to get
out of the funk without the need of pharmaceuticals.

I understand people need them sometimes, some don't take this as an
anti-medication diatribe.  I just simply know the way I feel and if I get to
the point where I'm not respond in a timely manner, I'll go see my
psychologist.  I hope everyone will do the same for their own mental health.

Merry Christmas,
Quadius

Tis the season, to get depressed. I'm probably not the only one? You don't
have to feel depressed. Your doctor can help.
Sounds like a Prosac ad. Merrill, you don't have to feel bad. You don't have to
take another pill for life either. Most of us quads suffer with depression. I
know it hurts. I use to keep it in. I am usually able to get by with a two week
perscription when I'm depressed. It goes away if you tell the doctor and treat
it. If you cry when you watch MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET, yea, it is time to talk
to your doctor.

Best Wishes to Everyone,
john

PS I hope that reads like I meant for it to. If anyone is feeling real down, it
is normal, and treatable. Please accept my love and respect for the holy
days and the new year.

OK
I'm confused. Are these hand cycles we're talking about motorized and your
hands or placed on them (or strapped on them) for exercise, or do your own
muscles do the work? I have absolutely no voluntary movement forward or back or
up or down in my arms. I can raise my shoulders and that is absolutely all.
As I said before, my neck is very strong. I can do a tilt back, drop my head
backwards and lift it up-move side to side-up to 25 times before it gets tired.
It took me a very long time to work up to that, but for all the suspended sling
movement that I do, it is controlled completely by my shoulders, no triceps at
all and very little bicep.

I go to physical therapy twice a week where there are professional hand

with by only sitting on a table top.  You just need to hunt for one but I
really do not know how satisfied you will be with nit.

The hand cycle is exhilarating to my whole body not to mention muscle

will not regret it.
