Subject: [QUAD-L] I remember when

Hi All,
So many of you have talked about boats and it has made me
think fondly of yesteryear.
We had purchased a very large ski boat about 3 years before I
became a quad. We loved going to the river to ski or pull 2 monster
bertha's with myself and the kids on them hollering and laughing. My
husband and I would go alone and picnic under a bridge and fish. Good alone
time
for us.
My family refused to go without me so the boat was staying on dry
land and my husband kept it clean and ready to go if I ever decided to try
it. I can not sit upright alone and I felt like even when they got
me in the boat and we hit a wave from another boat I would fall
over.
A neighbor stopped by the house and wanted to buy it
about 2 summers ago.
It is strange to see them drive by with the boat,, but I try
to think that they are making happy memories of their own.
Kathy

the same problem every time, I’ve took it too them twice 140 mile
trip. I called them today and ask if they would come and pick it up that
I couldn’t afford to take it to them, and I would be bed redden without
my chair. Ashlee said it wasn’t her problem and they wouldn’t
come and fix it or take it to the shop, how much is enough? Am I responsible
3 times for their encompodence? What do I need to do? Thanks Silas

I have a friend of mine that has been trying to convince me for the last four

have which are adapted for high-level quadriplegics. A buddy of mine, who was
on a ventilator, went through the training and was able to solo. "It was one

I think this will be interesting, but there is one key element that will never
allow someone who is not disabled know what it is truly like to be disabled,
and that is the permanency of our situation, which cannot be simulated. 30 days
in a wheelchair will give insight into physical and accessibility challenges,
but he will always know in the back of his mind that he can and will get up out
of the wheelchair and walk when the experiment is over, and we know we cannot.
I plan to watch nonetheless.

Hello,

a paraplegic friend of mine was shot 5 years ago and has the standard
neurogenic bowell. Well he had to move in with his mother and she refused to
do digital stimulation...she would only insert suppossitories and wait.
This resulted in many accidents and him wearing diapers daily. He couldnt even
bend for fear of an accident. After awhile things became worse he got impacted
over and overso the hosspital said they were really going to help him
by giving him a colostomy bag. Now hes still in the hospital with the bag and
now had bedsores because they dont roll you either. They wont even let him
back in his wheelchair. Saddens me

Dear Skahan, Kathy ([EMAIL PROTECTED]),Some of your elected

and won't work without private companies… well, April Fools! That simply isn't
true.

When it comes to Medicare health insurance for older people and people with
disabilities we are rarely presented with the real facts. We find ourselves
saying "I had no idea" as incomprehensible policies and "rules" sneak into the
lives of our families and loved ones. Unfair policies hinder access to
Medicare coverage and the healthcare people need.

Medicare's arbitrary "45% Trigger" is a perfect example! The "45% Trigger"
occurs when Medicare spending from general revenues (payroll taxes and
premiums) exceeds 45% of the total spending; this event triggers a "funding
warning". The Trigger is part of a law that was passed in 2003, supposedly to
help "Modernize" Medicare.

The real joke is that the "45% Trigger" is completely targeted and arbitrary -
no other essential program funded from general revenues has such a restriction,
and, if implemented, it will destroy Medicare! Worse yet, subsidies paid to
private Medicare plans, and the totally private Medicare Part D, have caused
Medicare to reach this "Trigger".

The only ones laughing are the private companies collecting these unfair
Medicare subsidies.

Send a letter to your representatives today; let them know they can't fool
you, that you want subsidies to private insurance companies stopped and
traditional Medicare preserved!

Medicare gives older people and people with disabilities access to health care,

[QUAD-L] Hospital

2007-10-25 Thread Robert Brennan
An extremely modest man was in the hospital for a series of tests, the
last of which had left his bodily systems extremely upset. Upon making
several false alarm trips to the bathroom, he decided the latest
episode was another and stayed put. He suddenly filled his bed with
diarrhea and was embarrassed beyond his ability to remain rational. In
a complete loss of composure he jumped out of bed, gathered up the bed
sheets, and threw them out the hospital window. A drunk was walking by
the hospital when the sheets landed on him. He started yelling,
cursing, and swinging his arms violently trying to get the unknown
things off, and ended up with the soiled sheets in a tangled pile at
his feet. As the drunk stood there, unsteady on his feet, staring down
at the sheets, a hospital security guard, (barely containing his
(laughter), and who had watched the whole incident, walked up and
asked, "What the heck is going on here?" The drunk, still staring down
replied: "I think I just beat the shit out of a ghost."

Looks promising.

Hi all,

I was surfing around the internet and found this place
called http://www.lingr.com/ Theres a link on that
site for a chat room for spinal cord injuries. Dont
know if you heard of it. Nothing to download, real
simple to access. I thought maybe we all could set up
some times to get together online and hang out and
talk. I know we all live in different time zones and
such.
How does a nightly chat sound say from 9pm ET-10pm ET
sound at the link above? Whomever shows, shows. I you
cant, then you cant. Just a place for us onliners to
hang out for an hour or so.

Maybe theres a better online site available out there
somewhere. Thought I'd throw it out there.

Any thoughts???

What all can be done with those? I

it would get in the way of a full bed length bar. But I thought if I had one

they are called, so I can’t find them on-line…

Pressure sores, open wounds, snow flakes, fingerprints and Quads, all have
something in common. They differ so greatly. What might work for 100
people, won't work for 2 others. Hence, it might be more prudent

to consult a wound specialist. Pressure mapping may also be needed to
consider your future prognosis and how you will heal. The band aid
approach hasn't worked in the last 4 years. Now its time to consider a
wound specialist...
