You are right on..Believe it or not in November I was feeling sorry for  
myself..Real Estate, my main business, was so bad in 2007..everything going  
wrong..Betsy..not getting any better..etc.etc..Then..I decided to do something  
positive..change the home environment..then went to Shepherd..Spoke with James  
Shepherd and his Team..Really saw what hardships are..and really admire the  
everyday continuing struggle for disability..then I get mad at all the funds  
wasted..I am a Bush supporter..Now I want everyone to come home..Use our money  
to get all disability folks into a better way of life..Might just take A  
Billion..One Month of War costs..Sorry for going off on a tangent..Off to a  
meeting with Cushman  Wakefield and on to SAWHORSE the company I am joint  
venturing with to create  Environment..Check it out on  www..Best..Myron

Looking at Atlanta Ga...It would be for all...working on Private Funding  
through foundations and corporations ..I have a Ga. Charter 501c3..that can 
take  
the lead..They work with those that can not afford..and in Ga..it probalby is 
 between 250,000 and 1,000,000..Myron

I think we are approaching 500 billion spent on Iraq in the past 4  years.  
that's more like 10 billion a month.  that 1 billion  disappears every 3 days.  
333 million a day = 14 million per hour  =  237 thousand a minute = 4 
thousand per second..   tick tock  tick tock  very depressing.
(Christ died ~63 billion seconds ago.)

Makes me 5x more angry...thanks for the update...I bet you a Bombay Dry  
Martini on the rocks with 6 olives..that out of every 100 people you stop in 
the  
street..not one knows of 1/10th of the problems with disability...Since Reeves 
 departed this world..I am increaing the number to 1000 people you stop in

I have been talking to a developer that due to the very poor real estate  
market would consider a community development for para/quad/tetra...Club House, 
 
Specail Pool, Gym..thinking of all the rehab at Shepherd..
 
Have own drug store, therapist, equipment technologist, registered  
nurse...everything that is needed and so hard to come by as per quad 
emails..Set  up 
business center to train for work or carry on own business..
 
Vans available for trips to Atlanta/Opera/High Musuem of Art/Shepherds/VA  
Hospital/etc. all within 30 miles..Kind of like a private club...I know it 
isn't 
 the best of all worlds..but maybe 40 years ago..Senior Living was put into  
place..a lot of folks like it and moved to such communities...I'm 75 and would 
 never want to live in such a community..but that is me...The whole situation 
is  set up as a Condo Complex and run by your own management 
team..etc..etc..To Blue  Sky?..Might be worth a try...Maybe get a few large 
corporations to 
back  it..UPS/HOME DEPOT/ RUBBERMAID/ ETC.  Home Depot founders are very big  
funding backers of Shepherds...Myron

 i visited a house in champagne illinois that housed 4 quads on level 1, a care 
giver in the basement and another in the upstairs.? seemed like a pretty handy 
setup.? if there were 5 or 10 houses like this in a row, it would be even 
better for everyone.? lots of us don't need 24/7 attention but when we need it, 
we REALLY need it.? i would live in such a place in a heartbeat if i was alone.

I understand the problem with funding and money for disabled..i didn't 30  
days ago..but I see it now..The project and its funding..I am working on  
now...If I could get enough families, folks, etc. to say interested..i think, I 
 can 
get the lenders, banks, corporations to back the community idea..I am not  
aware of anything like it in the World..Japan has communities..but they were 
set 
 up..to hide family problems of disability..things may have changed..Keep the 
 advice coming..The more I learn the less I  know..Myron

Thanks Dave..I would also..due to the need to have someone available..when  
you don't expect a turn of events..My wife..just developed terrible pain in her 
 feet..she can't stand up at all..I would give anything to have someone or 
two  persons..come by and help me to get her out of her chairbed..This all came 
about  within the past few weeks..She is 75..So am I..I am healtthy..But being 
a care  giver is a tough job..been doing it for the past 10 months..the point 
is..you  never know when you need someone..Lucky in Atlanta..we have the Fire 
Department  that responds right away..and can give a hand in lifting..Thanks 
for the  comments..Myron

A lift chair may help you and others with the transfer problems and can  also 
serve as a sleeper.

Myron,
Perhaps you could get a hoyer lift to help you with your wife's care. That is 
what the girls do to get me up. Being a caregiver is a tuff job, I am sure you 
get tired. We just don't realize how hard it can be at times. In the long run 
your wife knows how hard it can be as the patient.

have them available..plus a sling..I guess you attach to sling and raise the  
person..seems simple enough..I will go over this with my daughter tomorrow..She

Durable Medical Goods dealers.  They are in most anywhere.  They  sell home 
medical supplies and equipment.  Remember, its like buying shoes  in they have 
to fit you otherwise.

I would try a few out at a local DME before making any decisions.   Spinlife 
is good, but you can't try out the products on the internet

members as well.  How about aging seniors and developmental  disabled.  Would 
this 
place accept those in Atlanta only or the State of  Georgia?
How about those from other states and their families?  How about those  
without funds or money?  Who writes and establishes the criteria?

I'm sure that he's referring to Gimp House on the campus of  U of  Illinois.  
It's owned by the campus.
Voc Rehab has paid for most of the budgets over the years with attending  
students.  I've seen the same at Ball State in Muncie, IN and Kent State in  
Ohio.
