IMS, was purchased by Braun in 2005. After Ralph Braun passed, the company was
purchased by a Foreign Company in Europe and was renamed Braun Ability. There
is no real reason from Braun to support old technology and the new owners agree.

I know you don't want to hear this but this is quite normal in business when
one corporation buys out another company and then is sold. I'm not sure if IMS
made their own parts and components, or vendor them out as there are so many
changes going on and will continue to change.

Have you tried, www.blvd.com, in California as a source for old parts and
components and you can call Braun Ability, in Northern INdiana.

The last resort is proto-typing your own parts and components. But that could

Wheelchair,

My conversion is about 16 years old and yes it is the parts apparently that
aren’t available. I thought IMS no longer existed? Do you know how I would
contact the Zone Manager or tech service? At this point I’m willing to do
whatever Ica to get my independence back.

Thank you!

Not sure how old your IMS Conversion is but I'm guessing the parts necessary
are becoming obsolete as new technology takes over and old technology is passe.
Have you considered contacting IMS directly for their Zone Manager or their
tech service dept. This is the best I can offer you now..

Best Wishes

I have a 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan with IMS Conversion. I took my van to United
Access OKC (hate it) and waited 2.5 hours to be told what I told them was wrong
with it. My ramp isn’t extending out to ground level and it doesn’t pull
completely in which sometime prevents the door from closing all the way. Ramp
also wouldn’t pull back in unless the flap at the top of ramp is lifted. My
door also isn’t unlatching and someone has to pull the handle after I push the
button to open it. They told me even if they could get parts it would be
$10,000 to $15,000 and that would be a great down payment on a new van. They
waived the diagnostic fee and gave me a card for their salesman. They didn’t
even clean or service the ramp.

Purchasing a new van is not an option.

I took my van to a technology school and the kids there cleaned the components
they could reach and eventually got the ramp to extend/retract like it should.
The instructor couldn’t get the door latch figured out before he ran out of
time. He fixed it before but we don’t remember exactly what he did to fix it.
(He took the panel off the inside of the door and did something to the part
that makes the latch unlatch. Is there an adjustment that can be made on that
part?). The ramp pulls in very slow.

I am open to any suggestions as to what could be wrong/how to fix it.

Thanks

Nicki

I have a 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan and have had the same issues. I took it out
to Ability Center in Wilsonville, Oregon. They told me they've seen the same
issues with this type of van when it gets that old. Unfortunately, we couldn't
duplicate the problems I was having but they seemed to have a basic idea of
what the problem would/could be. I don't recall exactly what they said but you
might want to give them a try.

[QUAD-L] Ramp/Door Problems

I have a 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan with IMS Conversion. I took my van to
United Access OKC (hate it) and waited 2.5 hours to be told what I told them
was wrong with it. My ramp isn't extending out to ground level and it
doesn't pull completely in which sometime prevents the door from closing all
the way. Ramp also wouldn't pull back in unless the flap at the top of ramp
is lifted. My door also isn't unlatching and someone has to pull the handle
after I push the button to open it. They told me even if they could get
parts it would be $10,000 to $15,000 and that would be a great down payment
on a new van. They waived the diagnostic fee and gave me a card for their

I took my van to a technology school and the kids there cleaned the
components they could reach and eventually got the ramp to extend/retract
like it should. The instructor couldn't get the door latch figured out
before he ran out of time. He fixed it before but we don't remember exactly
what he did to fix it. (He took the panel off the inside of the door and did
something to the part that makes the latch unlatch. Is there an adjustment
that can be made on that part?). The ramp pulls in very slow.
