Re: [QUAD-L] bottom of heal pressure sore--ROHO product

2013-06-24 Thread RONALD L PRACHT
Thanks Greg,
I dont think mine it deep enough to worry about it healing over, but I
could be wrong. I may regret what Im doing. If I screw up I will let everyone
know and learn from my mistake. I believe as a quad we need to learn to help
ourselves as much as possible and learn everything we can on our condition.
This can be a full time job sometimes. Im an expert on my van, wheelchair,
adapting, catherizing, bowell care, showering techniques and hope to become
knowledgeable on pressure sores as well.  Whats screwed up my health is not
swimming twice a week anymore. My feet are swelled up and less circulation has
led to this pressure sore. im going to try to swim once a week again when I get
this taken care of.

You have to be careful if you don't see a doctor. If the wound has any white
stuff on it, depending on how deep the wound is. It can look like fat, or just
meat. If a doctor does not cut that out it will prevent the wound from healing.
Plus you should get your protein levels tested. The wound will heal faster with
higher protein levels.
I go in about every two weeks just to have the white stuff scraped off. If I
recall it's not just straight sugar they use it has some other name. Just keep
the pressure off that's the best thing. Even if you have to cross your legs, to
keep your heal up in the air. And if it's deep you don't want the top to heal
over and leave a hollow empty area under the skin. That will lead to all kinds
of trouble. Even though my wounds not very deep I still pack it to keep the top
from closing, so it heals from the bottom up. There's all different kinds of
packing stuff that will help promote healing. Good luck, I wish my wound was on
my heel and not my butt. Being stuck in bed just sucks.

My daughter and I designed a leg rest for my wheelchair which leaves my heels
not touching anything. Both of my calves are on this support, which has kept me
from getting any heel problems. You might look into having something custom

Hi Ron, I always go to the wound Center when I see any signs of the store, so

boots that keep pressure off thank you I will have to look on the boot and see

My orthotist put some foam on the back of my leg trough to keep pressure off
my heels but the Memory foam was not good enough.

I wrote the Roho Website to see if they had any small pieces that could go on
the back of my heels rather above the heel to prevent pressure. Did not Hear

Pressure on our heels Is always a constant problem for most of us. I Have a

Hi guys,

I looks at the bottom of my foot yesterday and on rthe heal was a blister
looking sore with a little discharge. I took the top layer of the blister off
because it was hanging there to look at the sore. It was red and had a couple
spots on it, looked wet. I cleaned it, then put some triple ointment on it and
went to bed. Overnight a purple looking coating formed on the sore. As far as I
can tell its a stage two pressure sore. What should I put on this? Any advice?
I need some knowlegable quads to get me going here.

Subject: [QUAD-L] bottom of heal pressure sore

Hi guys,
I looks at the bottom of my foot yesterday and on rthe heal was a blister
looking sore with a little discharge.
