They were a couple of great guy's Todd.
My name is Tim and I am coming up on my 21st anniversary in
August. I've had one wound- and that was in 2001; that about took me out, and a
collapsed lung do to an upper respiratory virus at the end of '08. I void my
bladder on my own, and have been treated for 3 UTI's in my years as a quad. I
feel pretty fortunate to have had the health that I have had; however, I use to
drink way too much and this 43 year old road-dog has seen better days. I am
now on more medicine than I ever have been, they are just for orthostatic
hypotension; but still, I hate to take anything. I live more of a healthy
lifestyle than I ever have.
Growing old bites (especially in the chair), but I just keep "RollinOn"!

I am new so did not have the chance to interact with these two gentlemen, and
curious if they passed as a result of complications due to their injuries?  I
know the higher level quads have a significantly shorter lifespan but these
guys seem young to me still.  I have been injured 20 years and very active, now
36 years old am am just now beginning to see and have problems that I never
experienced as a younger guy, such as skin breakdown.  I am not looking forward
to getting old in this chair!!

My hope and belief is that they are in a better place now and free from the
chair and everything that went along with it.

I've seen all the posts about those guys, which leads me to believe that it
might be a good idea to mention something about their passing in the summer
issue of my magazine, Dangerwood ... The Magazine. Would a couple of you who
knew them well please provide me with a synopsis of who they were and what they
did that made them so well known and loved?

Thanks, Nick

Dang- I didn't know about Mark (QP-quad pirate); what the heck, I checked the

nothing as to what happened. I had exchanged quite a few emails with QP over

Oh my- that really makes me sad; my thoughts and prayers are with Dave and his
family. Dave was so chipper, loving and caring, we lost one of the good

he was just helping me as a fellow quad, by giving our business a boost. I
often thought of him, and will always miss him!

I think Dave and I were the oldest ones on the list. I am 57 and c5 since a
diving accident in 1971. We had much in common.i too have a sore on my coccyx
that Ihave battled for 5 years. I have an iv antibiotic for it about twice a
year. If I remember right,Chris Reeve died of this same thing. Dave was one of
the finest and most positive people I have ever known. Ihave a feeling he is
somewhere doing jumping jacks and pushups right now!

Hey Dave! Save me a place! Someday we'll climb trees and run laps together!
Love you, brother. =) sigh. Larry Willis

Dave will really be missed with love, especially his warm and loving wishes he
always had for everyone. I always felt free to write to him about anything. He
always answered with extreme caring.

I did not know that death would occur, just by removing a central line. Would
someone on the list explain this more clearly.

Thank you.

Dave died when they removed a central IV line from his neck. His body (as per
his wishes) was sent to a universityor they were according tor scientific
study. His memorial service will be at 1pm CT at the Seventh Day Adventist
Church, 1305 14th St., Wichita Falls, TX 76301. Jan only asked that you stop
and think of Dave and his family for a few moments.

I sent a small flower arrangement on behalf of the SCIC and QUAD LIST members.

As Dave would say: "Stay strong."

Yes, Dana--he always said---stay strong and with love, he had a strong faith in
God, so hopefully he is there with him now.    Dan H.
