Re: [QUAD-L] talk about nurses not performing digital stimulation
I have been using these suppositories for 13 years and I know their addictive. When there was a problem while back with manufacturing, I had to try to use generic and found it wasn't possible to move my bowels properly. I also tried using Enemeez (spelling) and they were not effective for me. I really believe it's because my body craves the magic bullets in order to defecate. It would be nice if something else worked quicker and more effectively. C-5/6 9/28/75 Ok, I know most of you can do background research on people. One of my first aids from an agency didn't show up one day and there was the woman's picture on the news. She had been a fugitive on a murder charge for the time she worked for me. Well, she is out now. You need to make the bowel regime a requirement and post it as a quadriplegic needs assistance with daily living nessesities. When they send you a housekeeper you have to insist she/he be trained to perform these intimate functions. If you keep going without a schedual, in all likelyhood, you'll have a stroke or heart attack. If nothing else, see if you can get Roy's PIE Machine's there in OZ. It really is all he said it was. Clean, simple and almost idiot proof. I wish you the very best at finding an aid that cares. john - Original Message From: "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]; quad-list@eskimo.com; [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, June 9, 2008 1:20:18 AM Subject: Re: [QUAD-L] talk about nurses not performing digital stimulation There are no requirements in Kansas to sign up. Not unless you train them yourself. Most doctors don't have a clue about paralysis so it's no surprise when caregivers don't either. I have a great dr that actually listens to me and that's pretty rare now a days. Re: [QUAD-L] talk about nurses not performing digital stimulation
Hello I only use suppositories. Occasionally have an accident -- but is there any problems with using suppositories long-term? Well he had to move in with his mother and she refused to do digital stimulation...she would only insert suppossitories and wait. This resulted in many accidents and him wearing diapers daily. Re: [QUAD-L] talk about nurses not performing digital stimulation
Hey Ron, I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. It's quite sad. I'm a T7/8 para with rods from T7 all the way down into my pelvis. I cant bend my back but can manage my own bowel regime including digital stimulation. It's a matter of laying on your side and reaching behind you. I began cleaning myself up when I was in rehab after I first became paralyzed. At least I knew if I didn't do it right, someone was there to help me. I eventually became very good at it and was able to manage when I got home, including doing it in a shower chair. I began having to digitally stimulate when I became impacted and someone my body doesnt want to go without it now. I live alone and the cna's dont have to help with that at all. Maybe I'm lucky but it made me curious if it's something he can potentially learn on his own without having to count on someone else to do it. If he's a para why wasn't he doing it himself?
