Yes definitely.  I've done the same. On the fiesta there must be a recess
on the frame between the upper and lower mounting points for the curve of
the rack.
It is in the build manual but I didnt check before hand.

[Quantum Owners] Stoneleigh

A good weekend with "little Max" at Stoneleigh. Good to catch up with everyone 
over a few drinks and plenty of food. Some great immaculate and work inprogress 
cars as well as tall trees, not sure about Quantum Sleeps new resident though.
A big thanks to all who organise and help over the weekend. Hope everyone got 
home incident free.

[Quantum Owners] Alternators

Any Cvh alternator experts?

Trying to get a new alternator but they seem to be handed. Looking from the
pulley end with the 2 mounting lugs at the 12 o clock position, the
adjuster mount is at 8 o clock. The one I've been supplied is at 4 o clock.
Hope that makes sense.

I could alter it but would invalidate any warranty. Got me thinking is it
an engine age thing, is the mounting casting different? Being a 2l cvh it
isn't exactly standard.

There must be limit switches in the circuit to stop the window either going
too far up or down. If the upper limit switch is sticking it would prevent
the window raising.

cutting the ends of the hockey sticks before they got the version that
doesn't leak.
So there are a lot of 2+2's with the earlier versions on.

Ideally, IMO, they want to be made with a strip of stainless steel embedded
inside where you have to drill the screw hole for the quarter light divider
otherwise it tends to split.

The last version, where the end of the hockey stick is slotted so the end of 
the door glass can go through it and bed into the foam rubber strip up the door 
post.
It’s quite critical how the foam rubber strip is cut and fitted to seal against 
the corner of the hood.
Until the rubber strip started coming away (it had been on there about 10 years 
!) my 2+2 was leak free.

Don't know if it's available retail (suspect it will be, maybe under a 
different name), but on the Rail industry we use a product called Killfrost for 
door seals, brake gear, even points. On seals it is sprayed on as a 
preventative measure rather than free already frozen seals.

Fantastic weekend.

Thank you to all involved in the brilliant catering and facilities, which are a 
very welcome warm and dry haven.. A surprisingly high turn out on the Saturday 
with over sixty Quantums on the pitch despite the recent weather.

Same happened to me about 3 months ago, but only a mile from home. It sounded 
like a VW Beetle. Compression test showed next to nowt on two adjacent 
cylinders. Thankfully it was the head gasket.

 So 20 miles on 2 cylinders is possible, but not good fro your stress
 levels.
 My next job is to check the compressions, so I'm coming home via
 Halfords today to get a tester.
 My current best suspicion is a head gasket (or valve lifters maybe - 2
 failing at the same time?), especially with the speed that this came
 on at, my nightmare is a big crack between cylinders 3 and 4!
 I'll pass on what I find but if this sounds familiar to anyone please
 don't be shy, I'm having to drive the wife's Astra at the moment!

Got back on Monday night from Stoneleigh, absolutely knackered! To tired to
