[SlimDevices: Radio] n00b help. Can't press enter after typing in info.

2009-11-11 Thread fluorescent

Hi!

I'm attempting to add my email address for mysqueezebox.com account to
my Radio. After typing in the address, I press the knob to "enter" (at
">") and nothing happens. Am I missing something?

TIA

If they get a large number of returns due to the registration process
they might reconsider their stand in a later version of the radio
firmware.

I am also concerned about the heavy reliance on mysb.com for the use of
these new products. Many of us will want to use them for a decade or
longer but how long will the site be maintained? What happens if
logitech goes belly up?

I have bought the radio and greatly dig it. I am now torn between a v3
classic or a touch to replace an ailing v1. The mysb.com stuff makes me
hesitant about the new player.

I think the bigger issue for me is the fact that the alarm didn't do
the volumee ramp up.

I would like to see a fixed brightness for alarm playback since it's
kind of important to see the screen well enough to make out the time. I
don't even recommend that this be user controllable, just make it so
that when the alarm is going off the brightness is minimum 25%, etc.

For me it's not a big deal to have separate controlled brightness for
all the different player states you mention.

Ouch. About $1,500 bucks. I will say that I had about 300 songs in DRM
that I had purchased one off over the years and recently did the itunes
plus upgrade to get the nonDRM version. Now I use Amazon to do the
occasional single song purchase to avoid DRM.

embedded in the tags, saved in the album folder as folder.jpg or

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] 2 questions about album art

2009-11-11 Thread usch

1. Because people complained that the cover art was so small and left so
much of the screen unused, so they enlarged it.

Unfortunately the landscape orientation of the display is not really
suitable to display a square image together with two rows of text above
and a status bar below, you will always have either unused space or the
edges cut off. It should be configurable to what you like better.

2. Someone has reported a similar behaviour of his Controller, maybe
this is a related bug?

I hope it is coming, James, but as far as I can see it's disappeared
from all Logitech sites apart from the US one - and of course we can
only order from our own national site. Mind you, when there was a page
for it on the UK site, it gave an error when we tried to pre-order, and
the "find a local dealer" button claimed that a UK postcode wasn't a
valid zipcode! It's hard to have any confidence in any of the Logitech
sites at the moment. It seems that orders get through despite the online
shops - rather than because of them!

I'm hoping the battery re-appears very soon, as I really want that. I'm
also hoping that my pre-order for the Touch doesn't get cancelled as I
put it through before the 20% discount code expired at the end of last
month.

The current dire state of Logitech's online shops doesn't give me much
hope though!

John

Sorry, about the confusion.

the Radio does not have a mounting bracket or the screw posts for

You would have to build a shelf or sling for it. OR, you could make a
clamp that would fit into the carry hole.

Not that I see on mine, and the rounded back would make it a bit
tricky. The 'finger ledge' is pretty small.

That said, it isn't very deep... maybe a 6" deep shelf would be the
best way to do it.

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Alarm only works when connected to mysqueezebox?

2009-11-11 Thread jmpage2

My alarm did something unusual today so I thought it would be fun to
tack it onto this thread.

Last night I changed my Alarm 1 to a new time, 2 hours earlier than it
had been set to. This alarm plays back a playlist of 2,000 tracks and
has been working fine.

This morning the alarm fired at the correct time, but it did not ramp
up the volume as it is programmed to do. Instead, it just kind of made
a noise and then all of a sudden was playing at the full alarm volume.

To add to the weirdness, I noticed I could not make out the time on the
alarm. It seems as though the ambient light sensor was stuck in "cave"
mode and was dimmed almost completely.

It probably wouldn't be a bad idea to add an enhancement wherein when
the alarm fires it puts the radio on a pre-determined brightness setting
so that it will be more visible in a dark room.
