Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Keeps disconnecting from mysqueezebox.com
I understand the difference between plaists on MSB.com and my sErver but what about PLAY LISTS?? it's soo wierd. A lot of the times when I'm setting up an alarm I don't have The option choose the radio station from favorites but instead from a playlist and other times it's visa versa. I have also realized that my favorites are always being deleted. I am using msb.com to run Sirius because I haven't figured out how to run it from the server. And finally. Does the iPhone app work as a remote for this? I'd like to mess with my husband a little. -- lindsayanng lindsayanng's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=35414 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=73974 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

I happened to me quite a few times when I took my radio with me to our inlaws home. course have wired Ethernet too there only. I even had it freeze sweveral times a day esp when I changed a station or tried to. Had to unplug and replug electric several times. Even had to unplug modem and router from electric too. never had serious problem here at this house. Thanks for the explanation. What does locally stored mean in this context? If it means on the radio itself, then why cant it remember my custom settings in the same manner as the tune itself? Also, I must be missing A LOT given the problems and hurdles trying to stabilize the alarm. Why not have ALL static content saved on the radio, a connection should only be attempted if live content is sought, if a connection cannot be achieved, it should default back to the local content, with all saved settings. Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Radio problems connecting to network/server
I've got 2 squeezeboxes, a boom, and as of Christmas the SB radio. I only use the radio with mysqueezebox.com, and like others I get the "cannot connect to mysqueezebox.com" probably once a week. I first relocated my wifi router to the same room (great signal strenght now!)- but as the problem still occurred I've run a wired ethernet cable directly to the radio. Same problem- "cannot connect..." The Boom never has this problem- neither do either of the squeezebox 2/3's although all of these are on the wireless net. I hope this is being worked on- it makes this little radio a hassle. Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Radio WIFI range is worse than Boom
The wireless chip is a different one than previously. However, you should not be seeing this. The Radio normally has pretty good range and is comparable to Boom. Can you confirm your firmware version? It's possible to see these issues with factory installed firmware, and you shouldn't see them with the latest. However, if your firmware version is recent then its root cause is probably something else. Can you list what you see on the Diagnostics screen? (Go to Settings->Advanced->Diagnostics). Not sure the contents will be helpful, but it's a place to start. Correct, though PC need not be OFF to use the "switch to MySB" menu item. SBS and MySB integration is currently just for basic player settings (like brightness & text size) and little of this applies to the Radio. Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] MY Alarm Issue, HELP!
The problem is due to your setup. When your server is off at alarm time, a fall-back (locally stored) sound with full volume will play. If the server is on later it recognizes, that it missed to send an alarm and resends it. The solution is to have your server always ON at the scheduled alarm times. This might be fixed with the latest firmware, as it will send a WOL command 10minutes before the actual alarm. Though the software model used for the new generation of devices certainly changed, it seems as though the software architecture wasn't necessarily reconsidered at the proper depth (at least in the context of certain system functions - alarms being a primary example). With the advent of more intelligence on the client side (which is indeed being utilized in many ways), some of these weird architectural decisions (whether leveraged from legacy thin device operation or not) may be responsible for certain problems that will be hard to get resolved. When the messaging model and architecture aren't carefully scrutinized/considered in advance, a client/server application can get woefully stuck in a maintenance quagmire as issues are incrementally patched up with band-aids. When/if the architecture isn't right to start, stability is not likely to be achieved this way. More likely is a spiral into instability, actually, as the failure cases become more complex... Ok, read most of the threads on the alarm issues. Here's mine. I have the alarm set to go off at 6am with a musical sound, relatively low volume and fade in. The alarm goes off on time with the correct sound, but blasting and no fade in. I hit the turn alarm off setting on the screen and power down. Within one minute the alarm starts again, but with my personal settings, low volume, fade in. I suspect that since my computer sleeps, the radio was using some default setting until it woke my computer, but from where? My personal settings are correct both on my local SB server and MSB.com. Any idea what's going on and how to fix, short of preventing my PC from sleeping, IF that's the issue (I don't want to reignite that debate!).
