Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Squeezebox server stopping

2010-01-29 Thread Mnyb

Some more info on your system would help

1. Which version of squeezeboxserver exactly ( check info page in
settings web-UI if posible, maybe it crash to fast ?) copy and paste it

2. Which OS ? windows, mac, linux ? be specific all OS come in many
versions. example Windows could be XP SP2,XP SP3,Vista,7,server
2003,server 2008

3. can you get the server or scanner log files ? (location is on the
settings , info page in the web-UI, this is OS specific . zip and attach
to the tread.

4. IF you are on somekind of windows wich Antivirus saftware do you
have.

What are you doing when the servers stops, scanning for music,
listening to something ?

Welcome to the forum, you will find other squeezebox users very
friendly and helpfull.

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Radio refuses to display screensavers

2010-01-29 Thread fcm4711

Hi there

Unfortunately we had to change the protocol about how SB Radio gets the
time and date from the server for 7.5. An SB Radio running 7.5.x cannot
get the time from a server running 7.4.x or the other way round.

You either need to make sure SB Radio and the server use compatible
versions or you could set the time and date by hand.

Also screensavers displaying the time will not start when the time
isn't set at all to prevent them from displaying a completely wrong date
and time.

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Radio refuses to display screensavers

2010-01-29 Thread hollie

Hello Felix,

thank you for the clarification.

I have installed SB server version 7.4.2 (latest version from
yesterday) and firmware 7.4.2-r8401 on the Radio. The problem is not
fixed, however. Time/date are still off.

Could you give me a clue on how I can verify that the Radio tries to
get the time from the server? What message should I be able to find the
/var/log/messages? Is this the correct place to look?

To set the time/date by hand: you mean by executing 'date' over an SSH
connection?

Best regards,
Lieven.

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Can't connect my SB Radio wireless

2010-01-29 Thread stevedresden

Out of the box I couldn't connect via WEP - no matter how many times I
entered the 128bit password..

So I connected via ethernet (ie RJ45 cable) and it immediately did a
firmware upgrade.

After that it still wouldn't connect to WEP 128, but once I changed the
setting on my wireless router to Automatic rather than Shared - hey
presto it worked and I've had no problems since

Whether the Firmware upgrade made a difference I don't know - it may
just have been that one setting on my router that was the issue?

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Radio refuses to display screensavers

2010-01-29 Thread fcm4711

Hi Lieven

When you say 'time is still off' do you mean just by some hours (like a
timezone issue) or not set at all (i.e. somewhere at 01/01/1970)?

I don't think there is a message in /var/log/messages regarding getting
time from the server. At least I don't see one in my log.

Does the time get set when you connect to mysb.com? I just factory
reset my SB Radio and after setting it up again the time gets set ok
from mysb.com.

And yes, you could use 'date' to set date and time by hand over ssh.

Hello Felix,

with 'time is still off' I mean 'not set at all'.

I'll give it a try by connecting to mysb.com tonight (when I have
access to the Radio) and if this fails I'll do a factory reset and
retry. I'll let you know what the result is.

Freescale iMX25 and MX35 can both support upto 256MB of DDR2 per chip

obviously down to costs and needs. The MX25 is 16bit max. though which
obviously halves the bandwidth vs. the iMX35. The iMX35 also benefits
from 128KB of L2 cache. More info at www.freescale.com/imx

MSB = MySqueezeBox, SBS = SqueezeBoxServer, however, running a later

[SlimDevices: Radio] Want to make an applet or screen saver ?

2010-01-29 Thread erland

Are there any people out there with an Radio that's thinking it would be
nice to customize it a bit ?

Want to make your first applet but don't know where to start ?

Are you good at graphical design/drawing but know nothing about
programming and like to contribute ?

I'm personally really bad at graphical design and would appreciate help
from someone with graphical skills to make that really cool
applet/screen saver/visualizer.

Have you never done any development and don't plan to start but have
this really great idea for a screen saver you would like to see on the
Radio ? Or maybe how you would like the Now Playing screen or some other
screen to be changed ?

Share your idea and let someone else do the development.

If there are some interest I was thinking it might be possible to give
people some pointers and introductions where to start.

I don't want to spend time doing it in case there aren't any serious
interest but since Logitech now has changed the licensing for
Squeezeplay it's a bit easier. It's now possible to copy and customize
any applet more or less exactly as you like.

So, anyone interested or anyone has some ideas ?

(Yes, I know this might be the wrong forum for this kind of discussions
but I figured most wannabe developers probably don't hang around in the
Developers forum)

[SlimDevices: Radio] Connection problems to Squeezebox Server

2010-01-29 Thread mbonsack

Every so often my radio gets into a state where the little blue wifi
connectivity icon in the lower-right corner turns blue indicating that
the Radio cannot connect to SBS. The weather screensaver applet itself
works fine so I know overall connectivity is OK. The only way I can
reconnect to SBS, despite multiple retries via the radio front panel, is
to hard reset the device. Then it comes up OK every time.

Anyone else seen this? I'm running the latest 7.4.2 but it seems to be
independent of any particular SBS release.

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] SB Radio on MSB? Everything okay these days?

2010-01-29 Thread BobbyBee

To clarify; I do not, and will not, have a SBS. I run my current
SqueezeBox Boom entirely on MSB - I have never even installed SBS and
would have no media content for it either. I use my SB entirely for
online radio and Napster service... Therefore I have no concern with
SBS. However, I have read many comments on here regarding some issues
with Radio's connecting to MSB (In addition to other issues). My
question concerns whether these issues have been resolved.

Therefore, I am wondering whether the SB Radio is now working correctly
with MSB as intended, fixing the issues previous encountered by the
early adopters and those at Christmas?

EDIT: I apologise if it appears I am asking the same question again, it
is simply that I believe my original question may not have clearly
represented what I was requested... The information you have provided is
interesting though I am not sure it directly address the question I have
raised. Thank you once more, for your efforts.

2010-01-29 Thread bluegaspode

- I couldn't read complains about an unreliable MySB.com in the last two
weeks. This was after Logitech announced to route all UK users to their
american server. I'm not using MySB.com so I can just judge by the
'noise' of the forum

- alarm reliability has been much improved in the (still Beta) 7.4.2
firmware version. This one is currently considered Release Candidate so
it won't take long until it is pushed to MySB.com users.

- some users had problems with their presets (not working in the
morning due to disconnection to MySB.com). According to the bug-report
this has been fixed too in 7.4.2.

So if you wan't to be on the very safe side just wait about I'd say two
weeks until 7.4.2 is ready.
