Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Just got mine- a few questions

2010-02-09 Thread Honva

I am new to the radio as well. The only way I got that screen again is
to do a factory reset throught Settings->Advance->Factory Reset.

May be others could point to a easier way.

[SlimDevices: Radio] Just got mine- a few questions

2010-02-09 Thread Wag

After a hard slog through a setup (my network is WPA2, so it makes
things a bit more difficult), I have a few questions to ask:

I finally got connected and mistyped my email addy in the Sq Radio's
window (I hit the dial too fast) and can't seem to find the menu entry
where to correct it- that would be helpful.

Also, I noticed there's a page http://www.pandora.com/logitech that
says we should have free Pandora access with a code provided in the
device for free Pandora access? Does this still exist or is it not valid
for the Radio, just for the other Squeezebox?

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Want to make an applet or screen saver ?

2010-02-09 Thread vw195

I still say that a good app would be a radar. User specifies a URL
containing a jpg, and once a specified period the applet goes and
downloads the jpg. One could also animate it flipping through older
jpgs.

Then the user could flip through it, the weather app, and custom clock
through the switcher applet.

SSH access may be enabled in the Radio's Settings. On MacOS X the log
can then be transfered by entering the following in the terminal.app:
Code:

 scp -v -r r...@your_sbradio_ip:/var/log/ ~/Desktop

This results in the logfile being transfered to the Desktop.

In order to help you we need a little more info: :)

- What software version are you using?
- How is your SB Radio connected (mysquezzebox.com.com or local
SBS-server)?

Logs may (usually) be found in the /var/log/ directory using the
Radio's built-in SSH access.

If you are not using the latest 7.4.2 nightly branch then there is no
way to have a reliable (backup) alarm.
If you are using the latest 7.4.2 this shouldn't happen and to help you
need to SSH to your radio and fetch the /var/log/messages file (in the
hope you still have entries from the alarm time).

[SlimDevices: Radio] Alarm Failure - any ideas why?

2010-02-09 Thread colantra

I had my first total alarm failure this morning, no radio stream, no
backup sound, nothing.

The radio is set with a repeat alarm to go off at 06:10am Mon - Fri,
with the current playlist set as the option to play, and the radio
stream set to Radio 2. It's been fine since I set it up at Christmas,
and nothing has changed recently. I have a second alarm set for
Saturday, at 06:45am, and twice this has sounded as the back-up alarm,
so I know that does sound (although no idea why it did!)

At 06.25am this morning we realised the alarm hadn't gone off, but when
I pressed "play", the radio came on straight away on the correct
channel.

Sadly, this now has made my wife very unhappy with the radio,
especially as I can't find any reason to explian the failure, so now we
wil have to have a second alarm clock as backup - which sort of defates
the object of the SBR.

I can't see any log file that might have a relevant error in it, so I
wondered if anyone had any ideas of what might have gone wrong and what
I can do to at least make sure the back-up alarm sound goes off?

Thanks,

Colin

The exact same thing goes on here. Over MySB.com artwork and track info
disappears all to often (Radio Paradise seems less susceptible to this
than RadioIO), re-initializing the stream brings it back. Over SBS
artwork and info shows consistently. I believe this is a MySB.com
problem, limited server resources, whatever...

Hi,

what's about the "UL safety approvals", are they solved??
Are they the reason of delaying the Acessorry Pack month by month?

I'am reading, some people are in use of the Battery-Pack with no
problems.
How I become a tester to the Acessorry Pack in Germany or earn a

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] SBR backlight (off needs to = Off)

Thanks for that explanation.

Screensaver was set to off when off, but not when stopped. I changed
stopped = off. Is the standby status considered "off" or "stopped" from
a technical aspect?

I know about the functionality of the "pause" button as "stopped" and
never use it. I'm either in that room and listening, or I put it in
standby mode (power button short poke).

[SlimDevices: Radio] Wake from screensaver - by design or bug?

2010-02-09 Thread Honva

When the screensaver is active, pressing a button will only de-activate
the screensaver, not performing that button. This is particularly
annoying with the power button, presets and volume control.

For example, when the machine is playing and you want to power it off,
you need to press the power button twice. It is not intuitive and
particularly problematic for remote controls with programmable batch
function.

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Specific problems with CBC Radio

2010-02-09 Thread loonlistener

Thanks for the link, George. Although over the past few days, I had
visited the CBC site on numerous occasions, I missed the link that you
provided. Perhaps I ought to be more observant, thus I appreciate the
link and learning experience.

I had noted that the change to the MP3 format was taking place on
Saturday, but the accompanying instructions in the main message were
confusing regarding updating favorites. The note seemed to imply that
manual insertion of URLs was necessary or one could reboot (perhaps a
wrong choice of words) the CBC app. However, my presets were working,
but then the signal would cease after ten minutes, thus the URLs were
functioning and had apparently been updated by the CBC. In addition, the
technical support message indicated that buffering was to be expected,
but my radio did not indicate a buffering problem; the signal simply
ceased. The CBC app "went down" at the same time.

In any case, I did not experience "buffering" problems or interruption
of feed this morning during the hour that I listened to CBC Radio One
from Sudbury. Hopefully, the issues have been worked out.

Again, thanks to all for your help.

Enjoy the day.

I wasn't suggesting anyone else changed their lifestyle, just that I've
never used the feature and it would be nice to be able to disable it, as
you said. I suppose there's always the argument that if they make it
too simple to turn the alarm off, you'll be able to do it in your sleep.

[SlimDevices: Radio] issue when trying to play 2 alarms in sequence

2010-02-09 Thread simsboard

I've got yet another issue with the handling of the alarms on the SBR

my configuration:
1x SBR running mainly on MSB
version: 7.4.2 (nightly built - last update on 4th of Feb)
I've two alarms: first for 6:45 / second one for 7:00
the alarm time-out is set for 45min

fist alarm:
alarm plays a 15min news-podcast - the link to this podcast is stored
in my favorites => http://1.2.3.4/newspodcast.mp3 (the file-name of the
podcast does not change so I don't have to modify the link)

second alarm:
plays a standard radio-station which is also stored in my favorites

my issue:
I'm only able to run one alarm :-(
*) the first alarm fires as configured at 6:45 and plays the 15min
mp3-file - (sometimes the news are a little bit shorter than 15min -
then the SBR starts from the beginning again)
*) the second alarm on 7:00 just stops the first one but no audio is
played

I know that such a configuration was already working as I used it at
the beginning of my SBR-time - but due to a longer trip I did not use it
for a few weeks now - so I don't know since when its not working :-(

although I know that there are much more important issues to be solved
(e.g. alarm is not firing at all!) I would be happy if anybody would
have an idea why the second alarm is not playing any music!
thanks!
