Afiak there is software bug in radio, this is possible to fix. In fact
it was working then they broke it, water tight test program there ;)

There is also bugs with SB3 and BOOM re this remote, but a reboot cures
that for a couple of weeks or something, probably also possible to fix.

Now they have no choice but to fix as they have the same partnumber no
end-customer can easily tell them apart.

And logitech can not distinguish between them as spare part, so you can
get any of them when you order one :-/

Being cynical, I think the real reason Europe has stock at the moment,
is so Logitech can offload all the battery packs that have been packed
with the wrong remote.
Quote from a post by Felix :-
The mini remote has been fixed to also use continuous transmission mode
and the plan was to only include fixed mini remotes in the SB Radio
battery pack. Unfortunately that plan did not get communicated properly
to the people packing the parts into boxes and so they used whatever
mini remote they had available. So, I guess, it is save to say that the
battery accessory packs already delivered to customers still contain the
one shot type mini remote. And to add to all this confusion I also heard
that both types of mini remote will have the exact same part number.
(Why, I have no idea.)

Once we have bought all the old remotes for Logitech, they will then
make the battery packs with new remote available to all U.S. and
Canadian customers.
I'm in the UK, have my battery pack, with old remote and still have to
do multiple presses of the volume button.
I wonder if Logitech will be sending me the correct "New" remote to
rectify
the error they have made? Anyone from Logitech, please feel free to
answer!

I would recommend that you try updating your software (the latest 7.4.x
are 7.4.3-r8553 for the radio and 7.4.3 - r30375 for the sbs) as it is
always best to have matching sbs and firmware versions.

It would also be interesting to get some log files from the radio. It
might be that the radio looses its server connection briefly and then
thinks it has missed an alarm and thus uses the looping backup alarm.

To get the logs you have to enable the SSH access on the radio itself
(Settings > Advanced > Remote Login > Enable SSH). The logs are in
/var/log/ . To get the log file(s) use the following command with the
MacOS X terminal.app (for example):

Code:

  scp -v -r r...@your_radios_ip_adress:/var/log/ ~/Desktop

Nope, you're correct. We'd lose mysb.com, but you could still run your
SB's from local version of SbS and play all your own music. And you
could still access internet radio via URLs. There have been several

I have Squeeze box's "Windows Home Server" version installed on my WHS
box.

Under C:\Program Files\Squeezebox, there is a "server" directory.

MyComputer | Manage | Services and Applications | Services shows a
service called "Squeezebox Server" running.

Is that enough to conclude that I am not using myysqueezebox.com? Or

Well, it took them four months to "fix" the previous problems, so don't
hold your breath. Logitech has demonstrated increasing levels of

I might be wrong, because I don't yet have a battery for mine, but I
feel like I read somewhere that even when it's completely off, there's

Am I totally off base?

What if you just set an alarm for when you expect to use it so it's on

Or does this only work on AC power?

Just wanted to add my two cents. I'm having a very similar issue.

I'm using my own SB server and setting up the alarm using the buttons
on the radio. I choose a playlist of my music that is on my server as
the alarm sound. At the set time the alarm will go off but it EITHER:

1) plays the correct playlist that I had selected when the alarm was
set

OR

2) plays the backup alarm for a second or so and then switches to the
correct playlist

I don't use fade in, so in either case the volume is the same.

The latter, incorrect behavior (#2) has happened several times now and
I've only had the radio for 9 days! I have verified that my network has
been up and running each time this happened.

Very annoying problem and frustrating to not have a solution. :(

Obviusly I'm on wireless "eth0"

not theis line *auto eth0=* "auto eth0=Liogor"

This is a difference after 7.3 this was not needed in 7.3 but 7.4 and

I figured by looking at the file the controller itself had created and
noticed the difference 7.3 vs 7.4

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] How to set static IP address?

2010-03-19 Thread stevedresden

As I mentioned elsewhere the more detailed instructions to set a static
IP are buried in other threads, so here is a fuller explanation

HOW TO SET A STATIC IP ADDRESS
==

On your router, assign a static IP address to the Squeezebox radio,
outside of the DHCP address space. It's also worth considering setting a
static IP address on the server/PC you have running SBS for maximum
stability of the connection.

Enable remote login on the Squeezebox radio, and note the username and
password for SSH. (default user name is root and default password is
1234)
To enable remote login: From the home menu, go to Settings > Advanced >
Remote Login > Enable SSH.

To make an SSH / telnet connection to radio you need to load a piece of
software - PuTTY is ideal as it's free and excellent. You will need to
know the current DHCP IP address of the player and connect to that using
the username/password.

Once you have connected and got a command prompt it is enormously
helpful if you know a bit of UNIX. If you don't then I can add more info
but I'm assuming that anyone brave enough to even think about this will
know enough to get by

NB:The first thing I did was change the default password! just type
passwd at the command shell and follow the prompts

The file with the networking config you need to edit is called
interfaces and sits in the /etc/network directory

The default file looks something like this:
===

auto lo
iface lo inet loopback

mapping eth1
script /etc/network/if_mapping

auto eth1=YOUR-WIRELESS-NETWORK-SSID
iface YOUR-WIRELESS-NETWORK-SSID inet dhcp
script /etc/network/udhcpc_action

===

Take a copy of this file before you attempt to change it! (eg unix
command - cp interfaces interfaces.orig)

Once you have a safe backup you need to edit the interfaces file using
the VI editor.
The new file for a static IP address should look like this

auto lo
iface lo inet loopback

mapping eth1
script /etc/network/if_mapping

auto eth1=YOUR-WIRELESS-NETWORK-SSID
iface YOUR-WIRELESS-NETWORK-SSID inet static
address YOUR.STATIC.IP.ADDRESS
netmask 255.255.255.0
gateway YOUR.ROUTER.IP.ADDRESS
dns YOUR.ROUTER.IP.ADDRESS
up echo 'nameserver YOUR.ROUTER.IP.ADDRESS' > /etc/resolv.conf

==

Obviously the IP addresses should just be in standard xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
format usually something like 192.168.100.1

Once you've double-checked that you have this right then reboot the
radio by typing reboot at the command prompt

Hey presto should now have the static IP address - if it goes horribly
wrong then you'll need to either move the interfaces.orig back (which
may not be possible if you have screwed the radio connectivity - you
might not be able to SSH!) do a factory reset
