Updated features depends on what players and what server (SBS or MySB)
you connect too.

I'd suggest changing the name of your WiFi network/SSID to something
unique to prevent such (possible) connections to the wrong router.
Leaving the SSID name as Linksys or DLink will invite such erroneous
connections.
This will also prevent your neighbors from accidentally connecting to
your router as well.

The new release also finally activates the small/large album art change

When a track is playing - give the radio dial a hard spin and the
artwork changes from huge to small.

I was expecting it to be stepped, but it really does just seem to be
the two sizes available

I'm even able to play Internet Radio if I run via local server
So in my router works fine. The problem is the radio cannot access

I event tried putting the radio in a Virtual DMZ and/or enable
portforwarding (3483 9000) to the radio
nothing seems to work

Diagnosis display of the RAdio says everything is fine.

[SlimDevices: Radio] plays about 4 minutes of alarm, then ghost alarm

2010-04-09 Thread Nicnac

1st post, 1st major problem with the Radio:

The day 7.5 was released, but BEFORE I updated my radio, the alarm did
not play my Pandora station as it did with 7.4x. Instead it played the
stupid upbeat built in. I saw there was a new firmware and ran it and
now I have a new reproducible issue:

Every morning, the alarm starts at the correct time, plays for about 4
minutes, switches to the annoying ghost alarm, then craps out (freezes,
can't access home, can't stop, can't do anything.) Waiting a while
allows one to go back to the currently playing song on Pandora and
resume.

1: some update broke my radio before I even applied it.
2: this same update broke it worse after I applied it.
I spent the last couple of days trying to trouble shoot to no avail.
Searching here shows it's not an isolated issue.

So here's the deal. I don't run the server software. My server is not
even on most nights. Under 7.4 this wasn't a problem. Is 7.5 going to
force me to run the server just so my alarm clock works properly?

[SlimDevices: Radio] Please; Stop forcing/pushing the update...Please

2010-04-09 Thread BillLogi

This update situation is totally out of control here. Please make it an
option somehow in mysqueezebox.com or somewhere. I've tried turning it
off in Advanced Settings, doesn't work.
I have two radios and two duets. I really like the products, but this
OTA update scheme is sheer nonsense. I don't want to update anything,
everything that I use on all my boxes work the way I want, well not now
due to the update annoyance/reminder. Now everytime I try and mount my
Nas drive or switch to mysqueezebox.com I have to reboot everything
because of the darn update reminder. I don't want to update, there are
no new features I want to take advantage of. I'll pay extra money/fees
whatever it costs.. Please stop pushing the update, I'm very happy
with the way 7.4.2 works on all my units.

Thanks,

US or Europe ?

As far as I know MySB.com europe had same problem again lately. So the
behaviour is expected. Whenever the connection to the server drops, the
radio switches to the upbeat-sound (to protect you from not waking up,
when the sound stops not 4 minutes after the alarm time, but say
1second).
That you couldn't navigate at all also is a sign that MySB.com is
unreliable.

To prove if MySB.com is to blame you should activate remote access to
your radio (somewhere under advanced settings), download a program like
'WinSCP' from the web, connect to your radio, download the file
'/var/log/messages' and post it here.
Do it right after you faced the problem - then its easiest to find it
in the logs.

O ... wait and hope that it will be better in a few days again :)

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] dropping connection after firmware update

2010-04-09 Thread PeterPeter

Hi guys my first post and sorry but its a bit of a rant but I need to
express my frustration, I purchased my SBR just over a week ago and was
highly impressed with its appearance and build quality but since
setting it up I have had nothing but problems including ghost alarms,
fallback alarms going off instead of intended alarm (BBC Radio 3) and
since the 7.5 update, which I hoped would cure these problems, I've had
the intermittent dropping of the connection to mysb.com which today
seems to be permanent. I was thinking of buying a Touch but even though
everyone is saying their other SB products are fine, ie SB3 and Boom,
I'm now extremely suspicious of such a new SB product, hopefully the
guys at Logitech will come up with an update to fix the SBR's problems
until then I'll hold off from getting that Touch.

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Please; Stop forcing/pushing the update...Please

2010-04-09 Thread BigPotato

I think it is perfectly reasonable to expect that if you connect your
device to Logitech's service that it will require you to update to the
latest firmware. Anything else would make it much more difficult for
the service to move forward.

On the other hand it is also completely reasonable for you to be able
to run your own server and never update anything ever again. However,
you must be willing to accept that some things may stop working if the
external environment changes (OS version, online services change
protocols, etc).

It's a matter of picking your poison. Personally I've never run into
serious problems updating the firmware or server software, and I've
been running this stuff since the SB1 was introduced.

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] batteries out of stock ...

2010-04-09 Thread j1simon

I received mine today. I pre-ordered in early February. I've just it
installed and it works without being plugged in! A miracle. It does
seem however that my remote is DOA. I have 7.5 but nothing. I will keep
playing with it and post my results.

It's like buying a ferrari, only to find out after you've bought it and
driven it home, seeing the remaining range guide is down to 2 miles
and then be told it runs on unicorn blood. Unicorn blood that you can
only get from one garage. Unicorn blood that you can only get from one
garage, that's only open at half three on a Thursday morning.
See, that's the misconception. Your Ferrari was primarily designed to
run on petrol from the oil well in your backyard (aka Squeezebox
Server). In case you want to save your own oil they are offering free
fuel as an extra service - it won't let you utilize the full power of
your Ferrari, there are only three filling stations worldwide, and
there are shortages, but after all it's free.

But if you want to do yourself a favour, build your own petrol station.

Did you open the remote to get to the battery so you could pull the
protective cover off?

I received mine this afternoon. The remote works, but I put it away,
wont use it much, as I have the controller from the Duet. But the
battery works great.
I live in a 2700 sq. ft raised ranch. The radio plays everywhere in my
home. I also have a .75 acre lot and I can receive a minimum 50% signal
at the boundaries. Music on the deck this summer..

Can I set up flickr as a screensaver?

Yes.

Also, can I use a flickr group when getting images?

There are five options:
- your own photos on flickr
- your favorites
- interesting pictures
- your contacts
- latest pictures

 Hi
I've been having the same problems with the Radio.
Just to be sure, when you say to give it a fixed IP address do you mean
defining one in the router's admin page?

Exactly, yes. Not had a connectivity issue with the radio since doing
that.
