Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Will Touch Remote work with Radio?

[SlimDevices: Radio] help needed
Got a squeezebox last week and i have been able to connect it to my wi fi, but sometimes it loses the signal and won't reconnect. i try to log onto it again and it makes me enter the retuer password which I do and it says Can't connect with this password Can't get it to work atall at the moment What do i do? -- girl_from_oz girl_from_oz's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=41227 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=82945 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] can't connect to open wifi network
I tried spoofing the MAC address of the squeezebox but had no success getting onto the network using it. Could I get the squeezebox to spoof my computer's MAC address? I tried adding the following lines to /etc/network/udhcpc_action: # original radio MAC #/sbin/ifconfig $interface hw ether ##:##:##:##:##:## # my laptop /sbin/ifconfig $interface hw ether ##:##:##:##:##:## just before this line: /sbin/ifconfig $interface $ip $BROADCAST $NETMASK but it does not seem to accept it. When I reboot, it defaults to the factory MAC address. -- plzdontspamme plzdontspamme's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=41195 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=82917 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

Which player model? Is your routers name (SSID) unique to your router? i.e. Not simply Linksys or DLink? Are you certain the passphrase is correct? No spaces (particularly at the end)? -- toby10 toby10's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12553 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=82945 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] help needed
It's a Squeezebox radio, my reuter name is unique and password is deft correct because it just worked but then it lost signal again after just 2 songs. Could it be to do with interference from other wifi stuff like my phone and my laptop -- girl_from_oz girl_from_oz's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=41227 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=82945 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

girl_from_oz;585822 Wrote: So I just put the squeezebox in the other room where no other wi fi stuff is and it works fine, in the room it was in i also had my laptop on and my blackberry on me This could be because you solved the interference problem OR in the other room you get a stronger WIFI signal. I'm not at home, but you can drill down into one of the menus to actually see the WIFI signal strength your TOUCH is reporting. Check it in both locations. It may be that is the problem. You can maybe fix this by even changing the location of your router by only a few inches (turn sideways, etc.) You might also want to check the wifi channels being used by neighbors and set your channel as far away as possible. Use netstumbler or vistumbler to see other networks nearby and the channels they are using. -- garym garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=82945 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

I did some expriementing, took my phone in the other room and within seconds squzzebox lost it's signal, took the squeezebox back into the room wihout the phone and it worked fine brought phone back in went down again, think the laptop is also causing issues so basically being near any other wi fi enabled thing is causing the signal to go -- girl_from_oz girl_from_oz's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=41227 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=82945 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] help needed
This is not generally a problem for most users, but it certainly sounds like it is for you. I suppose as long as you can set things up so that the touch is not near the phone (that should be easy) or laptop, you should be ok. is your router a b, g, or n. if you can use g only (no b on the network), this *may* be better. Some have reported this. -- garym garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=82945 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

Same here. Just got to the 8th day without a reboot! [SlimDevices: Radio] Love it!
I just bought myself a birthday gift, the Squeezebox Radio. It's fantastic! The speaker sound is impressive for such a small device and the audio jack sounds wonderful with my Sennheiser headphones, albeit a little more drive would be nice. I have long used the Squeezebox server; I've had some old Rios running SlimRio, Roku, SqueezePlay, etc. Currently my server is far away and I access it over VPN, this is flawless as well. I made up a battery with some spare parts and it's a lot of fun to take it around the house. Squeeze Commander works great on my Android phone although I think I would prefer if SqueezePlay ran on the phone too. If there was a 7MC frontend for SqueezePlay I would be in heaven. My Radio has unusually good wireless signal. I took it to the far end of the house where my laptop loses signal and it just keeps on working. My cell phone was next to it and it still worked fine. I'm using all N devices which are known to have a better range than G or B. Maybe you could get a better router? I have seen some 802.11n routers for as low as $20. -- rpress rpress's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=31544 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=82945 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

I personally have a fairly new n router which does work better than my older b/g router. -- garym garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=82945 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] help needed
What kind of phone is it? Mobile/cell - in which case does your phone have a always or sometimes on wifi connection? or Home phone - in which case is it a wireless/cordless DECT type? Although wireless interference is a definite possibility, if it's a mobile causing the problems it might also be an IP conflict. If your Touch and your phone/laptop have the same IP address - one can force the other off the network. That said, my bet would be on your signal strength or interference from other local networks on a similar wireless channel. -- Siduhe Who am I on 'LAST.FM' (http://www.last.fm/user/siduhe)? -Siduhe Loved Tracks radio got the thumbs up.
