Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Ok disable auto upgrade from mysb

2011-11-20 Thread Bob S.

I'm using Version: 7.4.2 - r30215 and can't guarantee that this is
available in any other version. That said, load up the server Web
interface, go to the Advanced panel on the right, choose Software
Updates from the dropdown menu in the upper left corner. Set Software
Updates to Don't check for software updates and Automatic downloads to
Do not automatically download updates.

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Questions Regarding Alarm

2010-12-20 Thread Bob S.

I echo 0xdeadbeef: You don't want this as an alarm clock. I use SbS 24/7
and have alarms set to playlists and they often work. But for an alarm
clock, often isn't sufficient. I've found that any hiccup, glitch,
momentary loss of network availability can either reset the alarm so
that it doesn't sound or trigger the alarm at some random time. (Oh,
what fun to wake up at 4:15 a.m., or to come home to a blaring and
endlessly looping guitar riff.)

The Squeezebox Radio is a knock-off of Roku's fantastic but
discontinued Soundbridge Radio, rock solid and absolutely reliable,
except that its Pacific Rim manufacturer unfortunately used a capacitor
under Roku's spec, shortening each unit's life. If you can find a
repaired model, can repair one yourself, or don't mind paying a nearby
electronics shop a bit to do the work, I think it will do exactly what
you want; I highly recommend it. A few well-aimed Google searches will
bring you up to speed; you might want to check out its user manual as
well (also via Google search) to make sure it isn't missing any
features you'll need.

 missed one of these settings...
Thanks for the info. Does this include SBS only or your devices as
well? SBS doesn't try to force me to upgrade; only the Radios and
Controllers lock me into those screens with no way to get out.

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] dropping connection after firmware update

2010-04-17 Thread Bob S.

Many of the people in this thread seem to be using mysqueezebox.com.

Yesterday my Squeezebox Server (running on a Tiger Mac Pro), two
Radios, and two Remotes were all force-upgraded to 7.5.0.

Today the two Radios have frequently stopped while playing songs from
my iTunes library.

Why are upgrades forced in the first place? I miss my old Roku
Soundbridges more and more every day.

Perhaps there is a connectivity issue to the servers that I am not
seeing from here at Logitech. Some people are using Slacker. What
service(s) or radio stations are the rest of you using? This same
behavior could come from connectivity problems to our server, or to the
 music services' servers.

 Thanks for any info!
No. I do not use mysqueezebox.com. I get long, unreadable error
messages (the overlay window is far, far too small to display more than
the first few characters of some URL the Radio is trying to show). But I
use only my iTunes library.

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] How do I control the SBR with the Web interface?

2010-03-01 Thread Bob S .

Thanks to all for the additional feedback. I did actually try running a
copy of the server on this laptop, but, confirming garym's comments,
it's problematic because there's a different iTunes library on it. (And
while I could connect to the proper iTunes library over my LAN, I just
feel like there are too many variables there; I'm fine with the regular
Web remote created by the desktop's server.)

Again, I appreciate all the kind help!

[SlimDevices: Radio] How do I control the SBR with the Web interface?

2010-02-28 Thread Bob S .

Hi all --

I'm listening to my iTunes library via SqueezeServer and would like to
adjust the volume occasionally, skip a song, etc. But when I load the
web interface remote control, it doesn't offer my Radio -- the dropdown
menu is empty. What am I missing?

Thanks!

Bob

That won't work if your Radio is connected to SBS on your computer.
Huh. Is there a way to listen to my iTunes library from my desktop
while connecting the Radio to mySqueezeBox.com? (I'm sorry if I'm
missing something obvious -- I'm switching to Squeezeboxes after many
years with the Roku Soundbridge, which always offered remote control
over Bonjour.)

Or are you launching the SBS server on your computer and selecting Open

It's two different computers -- the server is running on my desktop but
I want to control the Radio from a laptop. Not possible?

Thank you for the help!
