[SlimDevices: Radio] Deleting old wireless networks
My SqueezeboxRadio lists a lot of wireless networks. Some, of course, are current or recent ones. But several networks no longer exist (they were ones I set up in a house I have moved from). Is there any way of deleting these from the list so that things can be tidied up? danco's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=210 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=112854 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

It does now look as if it is working ok. But I have another question. The list of wireless networks includes a lot of networks associated with my old home. Is there any way to remove them from the list of available networks as they are just clutter. danco's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=210 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=111753 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Battery low. Please charge me.
It's amazing how often just posting about a problem solves the issue. It looks as though the battery was just too low to do anything sensible. And plugging into the mains for a while charged the battery enough to make the machine responsive. I'm currently getting a normal screen showing the battery charging and an uptime of 2 minutes (though it's been plugged in for far longer than that. We'll see if it keeps going ok. danco's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=210 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=111753 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
[SlimDevices: Radio] Battery low. Please charge me.
I've just moved home, which is somewhat fun, but I've been in chaos for more than a week. In the old place I had my Squeezebox Radio connected to mains power, occasionally turned on but very rarely. After my move I am just ready to play with it and get it working. But when I tried to turn it on (without connecting to the mains) it just said "Battery low. Please charge me". So I connected it to the mains, after I found the charger, but kept getting the same message. What was stranger is that it then turned off (not a surprise in itself if the battery was low) and then spontaneously restarted. It kept doing that, and I couldn't get it to switch off. Just at the moment it is not giving that message but every few seconds (I've not timed it) the Logitech logo flashes and that's all. I'm going to keep it plugged in overnight and see if anything improves. And when I have a bit of time I might try removing the battery and seeing what happens if I try to run it only on mains power. danco's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=210 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=111753 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Reset IP address
Thanks. Connecting by ethernet and then going back to wireless seems to have cleared things. Now for a minor problem, whose solution should be easy. The time shown on the Radio is about five minutes behind the time on my computer (and my watch). How do I make sure the Radio picks up the correct time. Sorry to ask such a simple question, but I don't use the Radio often. danco's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=210 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=104971 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Reset IP address
I think that the other problem had caused the Radio to come adrift from the server, and it had been gradually losing time. Once it was properly connected to my computer, the times got back in sync. danco's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=210 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=104971 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
[SlimDevices: Radio] Reset IP address
When my Radio could not get an address automatically (using a wireless connection) I entered a manual address. Unfortunately, in a fit of madness the address I entered was that of my router!! Naturally that has caused all sorts of problems. I can obviously solve the problems by returning to factory settings. But is there a less drastic way of setting an address properly, either automatic or manual. I looked but didn't see an obvious way. danco's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=210 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=104971 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

[SlimDevices: Radio] Music Folder listing
I don't use my Squeezebox Radio very often, and it is usually fully off. It had been running 7.5.0. I wanted to use it yesterday, turned it on and upgraded firmware to 7.5.4 r9408. My server is 7.5.4 r32171 running on an iMac under OS 10.6.6. When I go to My Music, Music Folder, I just get the little dot going round and round indefinitely (certainly for several minutes, I haven't checked to see if it ever stops), which prevents me accessing my music (because most of my items are radio downloads, things like Albums or Artists don't list very many of them). I thought this might just be an initial rescan, but a complete rescan of my library from the Web interface took only about half a minute to complete the scan of around 500 items in the library. So how can I solve the problem, or get further diagnostic information? -- danco danco's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=210 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=87271 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Major Radio and Router problems
My original report came from a conversation with Logitech support. Further discussion with Slimdevices people via bugs.slimdevices.com indicates that he was wrong. It is, however, true that most routers are currently going through an assessment process for compatibility with the Radio and Touch. It is therefore *possible* that routers are incompatible. Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Wrong item plays
I suspect it is actually a bug of some sort. Because I have noticed that the further I scroll don, the further the played item is from the intended one. That is, if I go to my B items, select and click, it plays the item before the one I have selected. But if I go to my T items then it plays the item four or five before the one I chose. But it does help me to know that I am not alone in having this problem. -- danco danco's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=210 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=70382 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
[SlimDevices: Radio] Radio frustrations
At the moment my Radio is only showing Now Playing, My Music and Settings. Nothing else, no Internet Radio, no My Apps, etc. Diagnostics reports mysqueezebox.com at 89.202.121.131. Ping and TCP ok and the Radio is registered. I would suspect a failed sever at mysqueezebox.com,except that when I pointed my SB2 to mysqueezebox.com it played fine. But I suppose that just because the two go through the same router that does not mean that they connect to the same machine at mysqueezebox.com. In addition, the Radio will currently not connect to my local Squeezebox Server. This happened before, and when restarting the computer, resetting the Radio to factory setting did not work, I ultimately got connectivity back by restoring my machine from a bootable backup of a day or so earlier. Here the Ping and TCP report Not Connected. I don't think it can be a firewall issue, as my SB2 connects fine to my local SBS. The fact that an earlier backup restored connection my SBS does suggest a software issue on my computer, but I have no idea what it can be. I have the Radio wired, but have tried both a wired and wireless connection, and both have the problem. I am using Mac OS 10.6.2. -- danco danco's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=210 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=70587 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
[SlimDevices: Radio] Major Radio and Router problems
After a long call to a Logitech support person, I finally got told that the Squeezebox Radio is incompatible with my router, a Netgear DG834G (v3). And that this was why my Radio works for a while and then drops off from connection to my Squeezebox Server (see my posts in other threads). So far I have had no problems with connection to mysqueezebox.com, other than one dropout that got resolved in a few hours and was probably due to connection to a server that was not currently working. He promised to send me a link that refers to this incompatibility. I will report further when I get the link. But if he is correct, I would warn buyers and potential buyers that there may be this kind of incompatibility. And, as regards Logitech themselves, there are two things to say. One is that a list of currently supported routers needs to be prominently available if there are router issues. In fact not giving such a list seems to me to amount to sharp practice. The other is that I need to know that this is an issue being addressed. I seem to remember there were similar issues with the original (or later) Squeezeboxes, which ultimately got solved after various firmware updates. At this point, and assuming that he was correct, I have three possibilities to consider. To replace the router which I don't particularly want to do, seeing that it is otherwise working fine. To return the Radio as unfit for its purpose (given that no warning about compatibility with routers was ever provided), which again I don't particularly want to do. Or to keep the Radio and wait for the firmware to be updated.I would be quite prepared to do that provided the matter is being dealt with. I appreciate that it may take some time for a solution to be obtained. -- danco danco's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=210 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=70602 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

snarlydwarf;479355 Wrote: That sounds bogus to me: if you can maintain a connection to MySqueezebox.com via wireless, then your Wifi between the radio and the router is fine. If the connection drops only on local playback, then you should look at other things (is SBS server crashing? is the server connected via wireless as well, effectively doubling the bandwith required?) Are you in the US or abroad? US support has always been excellent... Logitech proper support has been somewhat iffy it seems, certainly not on par at all with the support here. I'm in the UK, but phoned US support (as I get free phone calls to the US). Server is fine, and has a wired connection with router. Radio I've tried both wired and wireless. Wireless connection to my Squeezebox 2 is fine. Diagnostics on the Radio report Can't Ping. And I suppose it is possible that the Netgear dislikes pings on the local network. I felt it was a touch bogus myself, but he promised to send me a link to a (presumably internal) page confirming that. And we do know there were router issues with the original Squeezeboxes. I'm inclined to think something on my Mac (running 10.6.1) got changed without my knowledge, as I don't seem to have any problem connecting when I boot from a backup drive that was last backed up a few days ago. But admittedly I only try that connection for a few minutes and then I reboot to my main drive. -- danco danco's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=210 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=70602 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Can't connect to server
Thanks for the suggestions, though. I've no idea what the problem was, I have been tearing my hair out. But in the end, I realised that I had a bootable backup from before the problem (in fact, from before I even got the Radio). Tried booting from that and the Radio connected fine. So software issue, not failed hardware. Had to do a fair bit of juggling to restore from the duplicate and slowly add back files that had changed since that time. Currently working ok, though I would be happier if I knew what has caused the problem, so that I could deal with it if it came back. -- danco danco's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=210 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=70238 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
