Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Replace Radio screen
Okay, it's harder than i thought, sorry. The display does not show an evident model number or even manufacturer. The display module is glued into a plastic frame that covers its entire backside and most of the connector. I am afraid that digging into it will destroy something. Would be a shame as the display is fully functional. But what I found is that the Logitech G19 keyboard apparently uses the same display. So the cheapest way out might be acquiring one of them and extracting the LCD from it as described here: 'http://squeezeboxman.blogspot.de/2015/07/fixing-logitech-squeezebox-radio-white.html ' (http://squeezeboxman.blogspot.de/2015/07/fixing-logitech-squeezebox-radio-white.html) 1x Squezeebox Classic SB2 5x Squeezebox Classic SB3 (one waiting for repair) 7x Squeezebox Boom (two waiting for repair) 1x Transporter 1.5x Controller (one waiting for repair) 1.5x Touch (one waiting for repair) JoeMuc2009's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=23131 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=107874 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Replace Radio screen
Hi Philippe, sorry, missed your post until now. I will have a Radio here tomorrow and will check what model the display is. In the Squeezebox Controller I know it's an Evervision display that is no longer available or being manufactured. I spoke with one of their sales rep and it looks pretty hopeless. Also no data sheet so no chance to find anything else compatible. Another advantage of the beloved Noritake VFD displays... There might be a similar problem in the Radio, we'll see. If a line is white, it could also be a bad contact in the edge area of the display which could be resolved by applying a little more pressure there. You may want to try giving the display edges (the ones orthogonal to the white line) a gentle manual pressure and find out whether the line recovers. You will have to run the device open for this test of course. Not really a challenge for you, right? Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Replace Radio screen
I have an original Radio that blew the power control component(s) as seen in these topics: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?95865-Inside-Squeezebox-Radio=862112=1#post862112 http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?103458-What-part-is-this-that-burned-(photos-included)-TIA http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?101548-SB-Radio-won-t-power-up-but-is-ticking/page2 It is packed in a box, but disassembled (how I got it back from the guy who was supposed to fix it). I'm pretty sure all the little bits are there (chrome buttons, etc) and I know the big parts are there. The screen should be fine; there was nothing wrong with this radio when it just died while listening. I always had it go into screen off mode and wasn't using it as a clock display. I would accept $50 US and you pay shipping. I am in Montana. Give a Private Message with contact info, if you want me to follow up. Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Replace Radio screen
I've changed a couple that have suffered from white screen, pretty easy to do. Here's a write up that go me under way: http://squeezeboxman.blogspot.co.uk But replacement screens are difficult to source these days, I tried to get a friend from Germany to buy some of the screens from Eisgold, but she never got back to me so I do not know if they still have availability. I managed to find some on eBay, they were borderline on cost though being fairly close to the price of a complete secondhand unit on eBay and I've since gone down the route of watching SB Radio sales on eBay and picking up a few spare units at the right price (for me) including some bargain "for spares" broken ones (power circuit failure is another common failure). Unfortunately as time goes on, although there are plenty coming up for sale the price of second hand ones seems to be rising. Also look for the whole G19 gaming keyboard on eBay, I successfully bid and won one with broken keys, screen was OK, unfortunately and annoyingly the seller refused to complete the sale at the price I got it - wasn't worth his time and effort posting it out to me, much to my surprise eBay supported his decision and cancelled the sale down. [SlimDevices: Radio] Replace Radio screen
One of my Radio has a damage screen (a vertical line, which I assume means a damaged chip driver, whioch is probably under the glass). Did anybody try to replace it and know a reference to buy? Jo :-) ? Thanks LMS 7.7, 7.8 and 7.9 - 5xRadio, 3xBoom, 4xDuet, 1xTouch, 1 SB2.
