The 'update' button is there now; I'll wait until I have the radio plugged in before trying (as the battery is low) however. I may be back for more advice if this 'upgrade' doesn't go according to plan! Thanks so much everyone for your help with this; and more widely I've received such useful and prompt advice each time I sought help on this forum over the years. Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Smart Radio and Squeezebox software upgradability
You could try to revert it to the Firmware before: Power the Radio down Hold the << button while you power it on again. This reinstalls the firmware that was running before the latest upgrade. If you only converted from UE to SB and didnt upgrade after that conversion, that should do the trick. karlek's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=64321 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=99027 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Smart Radio and Squeezebox software upgradability
It's a bit concerning that this poor little server has the power to make all new UE smart radios "useless" (as most people use them as squeezeboxes) Only the migration from UE to SB in the US is broken at this moment. The main service should be fully functioning. I kept that unopened UE Radio as a precious gift, and know I find out that it could be a worthless brick of some update server dies :( I'll do my very best to not let this happen. And even if the service was to go away, there's always a way to change firmware. It's a bit more involved, but people used to do it when the official migration path wasn't in place yet. Maybe after fixing this (which I hope comes quick :) ) would it be worth the extra time to start publishing some info about what theese services do & where they are so that, even in the case someone completely removes the plug on your side, these radios continue to work ? I'm not sure this would be time well spent. Because we don't know the situation when the servers are shut down. Will firmware images still be accessible? Will there even still be an interest in doing this? It's probably just a matter of a specific domain name to locally intercept & a file to serve to the box ; sharing that info (which anyone Exactly. A UE SmartRadio would call config.logitechmusic.com to get information about what backend to connect to, and what firmware to install. If that service was to go away, you could set up your own web server responding to this request and serving SB firmware. This would trigger the firmware change on the Radio and make it a Squeezebox. My hope is that if the day was to come, Logitech would be kind enough to leave that service in place, just moving every device to SB as they connect. Running such a service does cost "nothing", as it could be a simple .json file being served up from S3 or other cheap space. -- Michael ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

Connect Radio to MySB.com, log into your MySB.com account, go to Players > Radio. There is a button to click to Upgrade to UE. Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Smart Radio and Squeezebox software upgradability
No, I haven't tried Spotify on her one; more just thinking it may be supported as the screen made specific mention of it! But looking at the apps at https://www.uesmartradio.com/appgallery it looks like Spotify's been removed; I never used mine in its original form, as I was running two other Squeezeboxes and LMS so it made sense to run it as a Squeezebox. Now that's not the case I thought I could move to running it without LMS. Yeah, I'm running LMS on a Pi as well, and it's been pretty much perfect for the Radio - and I'm sure it's more a wireless issue with the controllers that caused all the hassles with the Duets, as opposed to the server itself. I just thought that if Pandora and Spotify worked on the original firmware it would save me having to run the Pi, but if that's not the case I may need to re-think this... jonathan.ibell's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=38948 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=99027 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Smart Radio and Squeezebox software upgradability
Is that for real, in that I won't be able to use Spotify if I revert back to the UE Radio firmware (even with a paid-for account)? I looked at my mother's UE Smart Radio this afternoon, which is still running the original firmware, and that mentions Spotify on the screen relating to apps. Look forward to any instructions on how to do the reversion, but would have to think carefully about doing so if it meant no Spotify... jonathan.ibell's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=38948 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=99027 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Smart Radio and Squeezebox software upgradability
Hey there A few years ago I got some great help on this very thread to assist me converting my UE Smart Radio to the Squeezebox firmware; we've been using it like that since and it's run really well, but have now had enough of the problems with our other Squeezeboxes (both Duets) and we have moved to another solution, so ideally I'd like to stop having to run LMS for this single device. As such, I've been searching everywhere for instructions on how to revert a UE Smart Radio that's been 'downgraded' to run Squeezebox firmware to the 'original' UE Smart Radio firmware; I've read hints that this is possible, but logically all the sites I've read are discussing the 'downgrade' route. IS THIS POSSIBLE, AND IF SO CAN SOMEONE PLEASE POINT ME TO INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO ACHIEVE THIS? Also, I'm assuming I'll be able to continue to run both Spotify and Pandora on an 'original' UE Smart Radio? I accept this means losing access to music on our NAS, but this is fine given how it's used these days. Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Smart Radio and Squeezebox software upgradability
Hi, I have a UE smart radio and would like to be able to add custom radio URLs and everything I have found online suggested using the Squeezebox OS to do this so I followed the instructions to install it and it appeared to work but after connecting to my WiFi I am never prompted to connected to the Mysqueezbox.com site where I have registered an account. If I go to My Apps or Favourites I get "An error has occurred with your account. Please try factory resetting your player." exactly like this http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?107852-Can-t-display-favorites. Factory resetting or reinstalling the firmware does not help. Network diags are passed (can reach mysqueezbox.com etc.) and if I play a station manually it works okay. I just can't connect all my favourites with the TuneIn app etc. because I can't link it to mysqueezebox. It is running 7.7.3 r16676. Any ideas how to fix this or if not is it possible to roll back to to the Logitech UE OS? Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Smart Radio and Squeezebox software upgradability
That worked, thanks! I'm curious, what was the problem? Similarly to what was causing the total UESR outage yesterday, the Pandora and Slacker problems etc.: Amazon installed kernel patches and rebooted systems, which caused updates of a few components, which turned out to not be 100% compatible with our configuration... -- Michael ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

I get from UE firmware V 10.0.1 r16964: "Failed to register your player for migration. Please try again." Ah, ok. That's good to know. I'll look into this. Error messages are there for a reason. It's good to know them verbatim ;-). In this case it's not registration on mysb.com or uesr.com, but in the configuration service which handles firmware up/downgrades in the UESR world. -- Michael ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
