"It's a Logitech UE Smart radio model 930-000136" Which isn't going to work as/with the Squeezebox universe unless someone specifically up/downgraded the OS in that unit to Squeezebox. The UE versions have a default different interface, but can be changed to Squeezebox. However, if your station become https *ONLY* you will be locking out not only Logitech UE users but a whole lot of older internet radios (e.g. Roberts, Noxon etc) users. Your station could still support at least one http URL to maintain listeners with older hardware - perhaps as a second station in the m3u URL so that when 1st HTTPS URL fails to play, the second station in list (a HTTP url) will be tried. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113586 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

"and it doesn't sound like the listener is technically able to have added it manually so I'm wondering where the listing would have come from" Yes, we can list anything on LMS (the server) or add it as a Favorite to the squeezebox.com listing. For example, I have one station with all 5 of their "listen here" links, as Favorites, and named for the QB device that uses that stream (Receiver vs Boom vs Radio) because they have different decoder abilities. She might have found your stream from a search, and then added it using LMS or web log in. Or, if she has the Radio and set it as a Preset button, that would add it to here Favorites list without her even knowing it. She can provide that link path to you for diagnosis. I tested both urls here in the US, they both play fine. As already mentioned, your listener is probably streaming from mysqueezebox.com (or even a touch using TinyLMS) neither of which support https streams. It makes sense that this is a "recent" change. I have a friend that recently "lost" stations, and he is using tinyLMS and it's due to the stream changing over (actually redirecting) to a https stream. slartibartfast wrote: > Your URL works for me. I think you need to find out how she is accessing > it. Is she using Logitech Media Server? Maybe direct her to this forum. > > It plays in the US. JakeUK, just in case you aren't familiar with squeezebox and LMS, what bpa and slartibartfast are referring to, a squeezebox device (radio, boom, touch, etc) can be setup to stream either directly from the internet (mysqueezebox.com), or through a server that can be setup on a separate "computer" (Windows, Mac, Raspberry Pi, server, etc.) which runs "LMS". Chances are if she is using, say a radio "stand alone" to just listen to internet stations (not her own music library), she is using mysqueezebox.com. As bpa mentioned, if the stream is https, it will not play on mysqueezebox.com (only http streams can be played). It should play on LMS unless their are regional restrictions. Many stations have recently changed from http to https which might explain why it used to work. Further complicating it is you can run a touch (only) on LMS without a separate server, it runs on the touch (called tinyLMS) and this also will not stream https. Thanks everyone!!!:D huh... The Logitech Harmony 200 arrived and somehow I found a suitable usb connection cable, set up a user through the web-interface and voila, It does connect to the base station. Now when I go to the LMS I cant find the player. Base station and laptop are connected via wifi on the same network. I checked the firewall and found nothing untoward and the same applies to the router. I have read 'this' (https://www.max2play.com/en/forums/topic/players-cant-connect-to-lms-panel-at-port-9000-connection-refused/) and 'How do you uninstall a plugin' (https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?110624-How-do-you-uninstall-a-plugin-without-the-web-UI-(Linux)&p=942053) though haven't seen the named server. So what else could it be? I agree with Paul. If you are using the radio without LMS then you have to add stream urls as favourites under your mysqueezebox account. Give us station names and we may be able to advise. Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Internet Radio Connection
Many radio stations are moving to use https (instead of http) to deliver their audio streams. This is not supported by many Squeezebox devices. The problem has been hidden for many users because they run LMS (aka SlimServer and other names) on their local LAN and then they access the problem streams by having LMS act as a proxy. "MySqueezebox.com" does not act as a proxy for streams. However, there might be a non-https stream available for the particular stations that you want to play ... in which case you can add the stream URL as a Favourite. Easiest way to do that is via the web interface at https://www.mysqueezebox.com/settings/favorites If you give the name plus some extra info (e.g. URL to their web site) someone might be able to help you with a stream URL. Does it help if you restart LMS ( not the linux machine ) ? Are your preferences ok , your mysqueezebox.com credentials entered into LMS settings . Radio menus comes from mysqueezebox.com . also have a look into the server log . Why you should try a restart is because LMS has it own DNS check and if cant find Internet when it's started you get this problem. You could also check if you can get to mysqueezebox.com at all with a web browser . And possibly also check the servers ip dhcp and dns settings Main hifi: Touch + CIA PS +MeridianG68J MeridianHD621 MeridianG98DH 2 x MeridianDSP5200 MeridianDSP5200HC 2 xMeridianDSP3100 +Rel Stadium 3 sub. If connected to SBS server on your computer there is no need to switch for internet radio or music services usage. But you can manually switch from SBS to MySB.com by adding a "switch to MySqueezeBox.com" Home Menu item. Radio > Settings > Home Menu > "switch to MySqueezeBox.com" (near the bottom of the list) If SBS server is not currently running then selecting Internet Radio or My Apps will offer a switch to MySB.com anyway. -- toby10 toby10's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12553 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=87421 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

General FYI, my Touch lost it's Internet Radio menu item yesterday as well. A quick reboot got it back. I think they are doing some serious MySB updates or something. My Boom on MySB keeps waking the screen and front panel buttons several times an hour. It is set to completely dark while playing (idle) so something is causing it to come out of "idle". If you mean actually switching servers from SBS to MySB.com, then your player is correctly registered on MySB.com, but that is different than your SBS server being properly validated with MySB.com. As suggested, check SBS > Settings > MySqueezeBox.com, make sure your MySB login info is present and you do not see any "Invalid MySB account" messages. Another check is to navigate your player to My Apps while connected to SBS, if SBS allows you to utilize your Apps without switching you to MySB then your SBS is correctly configured with MySB. Using anything in the SBS > Internet Radio menu item (when in is present ;)) does not require any MySB account whatsoever. -- toby10 toby10's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12553 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=86917 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

Can you offer any suggestions. > > Also, is Nancy Grace available? Ikabob - Like you I have found getting the correct URL to be problematic. It seems to be very random. Some sites are very clear about their subscription URLs and others act like they don't want you to know. Sometimes the subscription URL ends in .xml; others are rss feeds. You sort of have to thrash around and experiment. Sometimes the feed won't play on the radio because it is in a format that requires special proprietorial software to play or because is a video feed. I am afraid that Nancy Grace is a video feed. I couldn't get it to play. An easy way to get the correct feed is to go to http://www.podcastalley.com/index.php and either browse or search for what you want then click on subscribe and up will come a page with the subscription URL in a box. Just past it into the "add a feed" box on the Podcast Player app and add it. You can also try using the Mediafly app. I used for a while but it was so user hostile I gave it up in frustration. But you can use http://mediafly.com/Welcome to get ideas of podcasts that you may want to subscribe to. If you see one you like that has a tiny headphone icon (to indicate audio), you can click on it and where it says "show details" there will be a little orange icon for the rss feed. If you right click on that and copy the location, you can paste that URL into the Podcast Player app and that should subscribe you and that way you can bypass using the Mediafly app if you can't stand it. It is all kind of hit or miss, but what can you expect with everyone in the universe out there on the web doing their own thing. It is really kind of cool, but I keep feeling that I am missing something if I don't listen to them all. I gotta get a grip. -- mpower9 mpower9's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=33930 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=81063 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

Plus it should be noted that subscribing to the Sirius online streaming service does not get you satellite radio service. You pay one fee for online streaming and one fee for sat radio service. Also, all stations that are on their sat service ARE NOT streamed on their online service. A good fourth of them, mostly commercial stations like MSNBC, FOX, etc, are not streamed. And I don't believe their sports stations (NFL, etc) are streamed either. -- BLatSD BLatSD's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=38631 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=81063 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Internet Radio Content comparison to Sirius payfor content?
The biggest advantage to Sirius/XM is that it is very mobile. Beyond that, unless you just have to have Howard Stern, it has very limited content. Whereas a SqueezeBox type device has almost limitless content with literally tens of thousands of streams from every corner of the globe. However, far less mobile compared to sat radio. Two quick comparisons: Subtract out all of the Sirius/XM stations you do not listen to, what are you left with? Maybe 6 stations you actually utilize (and with commercials)? Within just a single genre inside ShoutCast I'll have well over 6 commercial free, high bitrate stations to choose from (many commercial free). There are 300 other ShoutCast genres to choose from, plus all of the other services offered beyond ShoutCast. Think of Sirius/XM as over the air TV broadcasts, very mobile but very limited choices. Whereas SqueezeBox is cable TV with many more choices and video on demand. Except in this comparison you are paying for limited over the air TV and getting cable TV for free. ;) My humble summary: If you really want mobile content (like when driving) then Sirius/XM is a great choice. If you really want better audio quality in your home with FAR more choices and flexibility then a SquuezeBox type solution is the better choice, albeit less mobile. -- toby10 toby10's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12553 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=81063 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

Basically, any radio station that provides streaming audio to the internet is available on the Squeezebox Radio. Also available are audio podcasts. If you have favorite stations or programs, go to their websites and find out if their programs are available. If you are not looking for anything in particular and just want to get an idea of the breadth of material available, you can browse the offerings on http://radiotime.com/index.aspx or for podcasts http://www.podcastalley.com/index.php Sometimes you can even get the audio from video programs. For instance, on the Squeezebox Radio, I can receive not only C-SPAN Radio, but also the audio from C-SPAN TV, C-SPAN2, and C-SPAN3. It's amazing what is available. It makes shortwave radio look meager. The advantage of Sirius is that you can get it when driving in your car. (Of course if you have one of those wireless broadband wi-fi receivers and a battery pack, you could take your Squeezebox Radio with you in the car.) -- mpower9 mpower9's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=33930 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=81063 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

Yes, that's exactly it. RadioTime (who provides that whole menu thing) uses some sort of GeoIP service which maps IP numbers into locations. These can be pretty accurate, but they can also be completely nuts. My parents routinely move from Fremont to Hollywood, even though they actually live in neither location google's GeoIP and Comcast's DHCP assignments just make them virtually move. The solution is to create a radio time account at http://www.radiotime.com/ and the attach your MySB account to that at MySqueezebox.com. This will tell their servers to NOT use GeoIP guesses to locate you but just use the provided location. -- snarlydwarf snarlydwarf's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1179 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=75429 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

I'm experiencing something similar. I took my Squeezebox radio to work today and have it connected to our WiFi Guest network. Normally, when I go to select "Local" internet radio, I see my location of Washington, Michigan at the top of the screen and a list of Detroit area stations underneath. But when I have it here at work (in Troy, Michigan) and select Local, for some reason it says "Westerville, Ohio" at the top of the screen and what I see underneath are all stations from the Ohio area. What the heck? My work location is in Michigan, so I can't figure why it thinks I'm in Ohio? I suspect this is something involving the IP that is dished out via DHCP whatever service you're connected to. Otherwise, why does "local" change.
