Re: [RBW] Re: Let’s talk: 1 Up USA, Quickr Racks

2024-07-31 Thread Jacob Tobey
Figured I'd add my perspective, as I recently found a great solution to
putting a fendered bike on a 1up rack.

I've run a few fendered bikes on my 1up over the years, and while it does
work *ok,* i've never felt as confident in the bike's stability compared to
how sturdy a non-fendered bike feels. On top of that, my clem's fender had
gotten pretty beat up from being hauled around town on the 1up. Then I saw this
video by Brain Chapman
 and
decided to rinko by Clem's rear fender with the explicit purpose of having
a better way to run it on the 1up.

It took a few hours of tinkering in the garage, but the effort was worth
it. The only special parts you'll need is a rinko nut
 from
Rene Herse and an extra section of fender. I used some saddle rivets from
Selle Anatomica to attach the inner support and found a d-ring from an old
silver bar end shifter to secure the sections of fender together.

[RBW] FS: Pacenti Forza Classico 700c wheelset

2024-08-18 Thread Jacob Tobey
FS: Pacenti Forza Classico Wheelset
—700c,

100mm front, 135mm rear, 32 spokes. Hand built with Bitex hubs and weighing
in at 1540g. These came on my Atlantis and I've just replaced them with
something more touring focused. Not sure of the mileage, but they spin true
and have plenty of life left on the brake track. I'll remove the cassette
prior to shipping.

These were $700 new. I'm asking $375 + shipping from Madison WI.

More photos can be seen here.

[RBW] Re: FS: Pacenti Forza Classico 700c wheelset

2024-08-19 Thread Jacob Tobey
I don't think it would be considered exceptionally light when compared to
carbon or a lesser spoke count, but I think they're on the lighter side for
a 32 spoke 700c wheelset. That's my understanding at least. I can say with
certainty that they're considerably lighter than the cliffhanger wheelset I
replaced them with, but that might not be saying much!

Your best bet would be to weigh your current wheels if you're looking for
a comparison, but I imagine these would have them beat. They'd look amazing
on a Roadini!

I run 650bx48 Ultradynamicos on Velocity Synergy rims with paul racers on

Re: [RBW] Re: FS: Pacenti Forza Classico 700c wheelset

2024-08-24 Thread Jacob Tobey
I've heard of people doing this by removing spacers from the non drive side
and redishing the wheel, but I'm 100% sure. I've never done it myself. I
have reset a steel frame from 130mm to 135mm though! That's probably the
easier move, but it depends on how precious you are with the frame.
