[RBW] FS: Bridgestone RB-1, Acorn Bag, Nitto, Silver Shifters, Wool Jerseys

2013-10-23 Thread Matt Gilkey

Hello,

Here are a few things for sale. All prices include shipping to the lower
48. I have tried to be as accurate as possible with the descriptions and
photos. I really want people to be happy with their purchases so please
ask questions. Payment via paypal, or check/money order if you are feeling
that trusting. Please respond off list to email
*mg...@hotmail.com*.
 Thanks.

-Bridgestone RB-1, 54.5 cm.

I purchased this frame off of ebay but it ended up being too small. So, I
built it up for my wife but she never used it. Has a very eclectic set of
components but everything shifts surprisingly well. The brakes leave a lot
to be desired however. Tried several different pads, but nothing seemed to
help. Price is $425.00 shipped.

Crank Set- Shimano 600 double 53/40

Wheels- Shimano 600 rear 11-24 7 speed, Campy front, Mavic
rims

Tires- Panaracer Pasela (non-tourguard) 700x28

Front Derailleur- Suntour

Rear Derailleur – Shimano Deore XT

Brakes- Shimano 105

Shifters- Shimano 105

-Ostrich boxy rando bag, olive green.

I love this bag. I am only selling it because I bought the tall rando bag
in the same color. The bag is in great shape. Price is $125 shipped.

-Nitto technomic stem 26.0 clamp, 7 cm extension.

A few scratches, but overall in good shape. $35.00 shipped.

-Rivendell Silver Down tube shifters.

The left shifter is a little loose, but once a shift cable is installed the
looseness goes away. An old beat up right shifter is included for spare
parts. $25.0 shipped.

-Ibex short sleeve jersey xl.

Measures 21 in pit to pit. Several tears and stains, particularly at the
back pockets. Please see pictures for details. $35 shipped.

-Ibex long sleeve jersey xl.

Measures 20 in pit to pit. Some stains and tears, but in better shape than
the short sleeve one. Please see pictures.

$40 shipped

Swobo long sleeve wool jersey blue, xl.
Just bought this off of ebay, but it a little too unflattering to my spare
tire area. Measures 22 in pit to pit. $50 shipped.

I have to say that pop up one is kind of cool. That green may even

[RBW] FS: 56 cm Atlantis

2013-04-15 Thread Matt Gilkey

Hello,

My name is Matt and I have a problem. I love bikes. Steel ones.
Lugged ones . Oooh green ones, I really like green bikes. As a result I
have too many bikes and would like to get down to just two. So I am selling
my Atlantis, which I never thought I would do. It is a great bike that I
really love; I just don’t use it that much anymore. It is a very versatile
frame. I have run it with 26x1.5 in tires, 26x2.1 tires, and 650b hetres. I
have used it for mountain biking, road rides, and camping.
I purchased the frame about 3 years ago from a list member in pristine
condition. Since then it has seen a lot of use, and has a lot of beusage in
the form of paint scratches. No dents or dings. Most of the scratches are
from being on a bike rack and from chain suck. The worst set of scratches
is on the top of the down tube and is from the pedal of another bike on a
bike rack. I have painted over most of the scratches with the correct color
paint. There is also a very small gouge in the drive side chain stay from
the chain getting stuck. I have taken multiple before and after pictures in
order to be as detailed and honest as I can. Also, I have removed most of
the shellac drips shown in the pictures. I want whoever gets this bike to
be as happy with it as I was, so please ask questions. I am asking $1700
which includes shipping to the lower 48. Sale includes the 26in wheels (not
the 650b ones), 26x1.5 schwalbe marathon racers, and panaracer smoke/dart
26x2.1 tires. Bottle cages are not included. Below is a build list. Please
contact me off list at *mg...@hotmail.com* . Thanks.

56 cm Atlantis frame

Sugino XD2 triple crankset 46x36x24

Shimano slx front derailleur

Shimano xt rear derailleur

Shimano 8spd bar end shifters currently set up for friction shifting

Nitto moustache bars with shellacked cloth over cork tape

Nitto dirt drop stem

Phil Wood “Rivy” freewheel wheel set with velocity aeroheat 26 in rims,
built by Rich at Rivendell

IRD 7 speed 13-32 freewheel, no issues with this one. I will also include
an extra used suntour freewheel.

MKS touring pedals that are a little beat up but spin smoothly

Brooks flyer saddle

Nitto seat post

Shimano deore v-brakes, have enough adjustability for 650b wheels
Phil wood 108 mm bottom bracket (runs the chain rings a little close)

[RBW] FS: Nigel Smyth Big Loafer, Nitto R-15, Technomic Standard

2012-02-14 Thread Matt Gilkey
Hello All,

Just joined the group, but I have been a reader for some time. Sorry
my first post is a for sale one. I promise to contribute more to the
rbw-verse in the future. Here goes.

https://picasaweb.google.com/116766706625339314401

-Nigel smythe big loafer rear trunk sack in green tweed $110.
This is an older model with the zipper fully covered. I absolutely
love this bag, and I think I would buy anything
made out of this material. Unfortunately I never use it, and I want
to get a rando-style handlebar bag.

-Nitto R-15 rear rack $75
I recently replaced on of the lower struts because I bent it with an
overloaded pannier.

-Nitto technomic standard 26.0 clamp 5 cm extension $35
Never used or installed, just sitting in my parts bin.

All prices above include shipping to the lower 48. We can discuss
shipping to other locations. I am willing to consider trades for a
handlebar bag like an acorn or berthoud. I will sell the bag and rack
combined for $160. I use paypal. Please contact me off list if
interested. Thanks

[RBW] FS Acorn bag, Paul Brakes, Shimano Shifters, Silver Shifters

2014-04-16 Thread Matt Gilkey

Hello,

Here are a few parts for sale. I have tried to take good pictures and
describe them accurately, but everything is used so please ask questions if
you have any. All prices include shipping to the lower 48. Thanks.

-Matt

 https://picasaweb.google.com/116766706625339314401/ForSale41614#

-Acorn Boxy Rando Bag $125- Olive waxed canvas, great shape. I love this
bag but I needed the bigger one.

- Shimano Shifter Group $100- Dura ace down tube shifters 9 speed
indexed/friction. Ultegra 9 speed rear derailleur scratched but shifts
great. Dura ace rear cassette 12-27.

- Paul tour canti brakes $115- Polished finish version. Comes with rack
mounting bolts, don’t know if I have any regular ones. Because these
brakes mount onto an additional bushing they stick out really far which
may make a front rack not sit level (why I am not using them). Otherwise
they are great brakes.

- Silver Down Tube Shifter/parts $35- includes one fully functional set of
shifters and a second set to be used for parts.

[RBW] Re: One week without a front derailleur

2014-06-16 Thread Matt Gilkey
I converted my mountain bike to a 1x9 setup and really loved it, but I
occasionally dropped the chain. I tried various retention devices and
finally went to a wide-narrow chain ring like this one.

http://www.raceface.com/components/rings/rings/single-ring-narrow-wide/

It works great, and I haven't had the chain drop since, even on
exceptionally rough trails. Hope that helps.

[RBW] Tucson S24O suggestions

2016-09-06 Thread Matt Gilkey
Hello Matt,

It will vary depending on what part of town you are in. Unfortunately there is
a lack of dispersed camping near town. There are quite a few nice campgrounds
along Mt Lemmon highway. The pepper sauce campground on the north side of Mount
Lemmon is nice with lots of shade and not too crowded. There are some nice dirt
roads and trails off of Golder Ranch road near Oro Valley. Please post some
pictures from you trip. I'm always looking for new spots near town.

[RBW] FS: 650b wheels, Nitto Rack, Hetre tires

2016-02-04 Thread Matt Gilkey

650b Wheel set: $265 shipped CONUS

- Shimano Dura ace 7700 (I think) rear hub 8/9 speed 130mm. Ultegra front
hub. 32 spokes for both. Generic Shimano quick release skewers. Pacenti
PL23 650b rims. These are the first run rims which had problems with the
eyelets cracking. The eyelets are bulging, which is visible in the pictures
but no cracks. I believe the rims will be replaced by Pacenti if this
happens. I weigh 215lbs and have put about 1,000 miles on them. I just
don’t need a second set of wheels.

Nitto M12 Rack: $45 shipped CONUS

-For canti brakes. Includes Nitto rack mounting bolts. Light mount on right
side of rack.

Grand Bois Hetre tires 650bx42: $13.45 shipped CONUS
- These are essentially free, just charging for the price of the flat rate
box. Used, about 1,000 miles on them. Stan’s sealant residue. Ended up not
running tubeless. Just wasn’t comfortable with it at my weight but they
sealed fine.
Pictures:
https://picasaweb.google.com/116766706625339314401/February32016

Payment via paypal please. Feel free to ask any questions. I will also be
selling a green Jamis Dragon 650b frame 19 in if anyone is interested. If
it helps the sales will be going to fund the purchase of a Jones Plus bike.
It’s funny how I am still a sucker for telling myself, “this next bike will
be the last one, then that’s it!” I’m pretty sure my wife saw through that
a long time ago. Please contact me off list. Thanks.

[RBW] Re: Pondering fatherhood

2016-02-11 Thread Matt Gilkey
Congratulations and Good luck Jim!! As a father of two sons, two and four,
and working full time while going to grad school I have to say that
becoming a parent is the single most difficult thing I have ever done. But
it is by far the most rewarding thing I have ever done, and has changed me
for the better in more ways than I could have possibly imagined. You truly
gain a new perspective on life. This change comes on slowly though, so
don't expect it to all happen right away. I second the recommendation of
finding a good bike trailer. Being a parent has definitely cut down on my
riding and wrenching time, but incorporating your children into your riding
helps.

[RBW] My Debate

2016-12-12 Thread Matt Gilkey
I have owned a 56 cm Atlantis and I currently own a Jeff Lyon L'avecaise. I
loved the Atlantis and primarily used it as a mountain bike. If I were forced
to own only one bike I would have to pick the Atlantis for it's versatility.
That being said I absolutely love my L'avecaise, and will never sell it. The
feeling of the L'avecaise on the road is amazing. The handling is fantastic and
it is by far the most comfortable "road" bike I have ever owned. And Jeff was
great to work with, but so are the riv folks.

I would say the choice comes down to what type of bike you are looking for. If
I were in the market for mostly dirt road rides and touring I would get a riv.
If I wanted a comfortable road bike that is also great on dirt roads I would
choose the L'avecaise. I feel that perhaps riv's are more versatile, but I
love the feel of the L'avecaise. Hope that helps with the tough choice.

[RBW] FS/Feeler Jones Truss fork

2017-06-29 Thread Matt Gilkey
Posting to see if anyone would be interested in purchasing a Jeff Jones
Truss fork. I have it on an older Jamis frame and have been very happy with
it, but am now saving to buy a full Jones frame set. Fits 135 mm front
hub, I am using a Paul whub. I believe it can fit 29+ tires but I am
running Panaracer fat b nimble 27.5x3 tire. Fits 1 1/8 headset but uses
Jones specific headset. $325 plus shipping for fork and headset+aluminum
steerer tube? Please contact me off list. Thanks.

[RBW] Re: Tucson Stolen Bike Alert

2018-04-25 Thread Matt Gilkey

Sorry to hear about your bikes. I will do my best to keep an eye out.
Fortunately they are both very distinct bikes. I understand your pain,
having had 2 bikes stolen in Tucson. I agree with everyone's advice with
checking local bike stores. I would also advise posting a notice at BICAS.
Checking any pawn shops within a few miles of your house would be a good
idea. I believe that the Tucson Police Department holds an auction once or
twice a year to sell recovered bikes. Might be worth a look. Good Luck!
